Woolly Hugs : A Blanket for Shefliesonherownwings. Crafters and donors, please, we need your help.

I am afraid we bring very sad news. The lovely poster Shefliesonherownwings’ beautiful baby daughter Isla was stillborn at 41 weeks. Bless them all, such a devastating loss, we are so very sorry. No words really are there? She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts, and we send them our love.

We are so pleased that they have accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, see her message below, there will be love for Isla and them all in every stitch. We hope it may give whatever comfort it can to Shefliesonherownwings and her family.

Our listed yarns are all easily available online - Try Wool Warehouse, Wise Badger, Laughing Hens.

If you have any yarn suitable from us for previous blankets please do use that. We can still get yarn out but it isn’t as straightforward or reliable at the mo.

We would love her name represented across the blanket and her initial I. Then thinking angel wings, footprints, hearts, flowers.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts. Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you!

Because of the current situation re Covid, we have suspended posting to us until after June 1st and because getting yarn out to crafters will take longer we are looking provisionally at a last posting of July 1st.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for Isla’s family, please do, we will pass it on.

From Sheflies… I’m amazed that people have reached out and offered to do this for us and Isla, I really can't put into words how much this has meant to me. I'm very grateful and thankful to all those kind people.

I sent mine in for this a while ago along with my Chernobyl squares, hoping they arrived.

Scratch that, they must have arrived because they were packaged with other hugs squares which were definitely recieved so I know they're there safely

I missed a comment further up where you said they'd been received I'm putting it down to being off my chops on morphine for all of that week.

Hello DH and I opened the Woolly Hug on Tuesday which was Isla’s first birthday and we were blown away by how beautiful it is. The care and love that has gone into it is evident and I didn’t expect anything so lovely and huge! We loved the frame with Isla’s name in it too and it has pride of place in the nursery.

We really are so so grateful to everyone who donated their time and money to putting the blanket together and it is so wonderful to have something for Isla and James that has been made with so much love by people that don’t even know us. It has really filled my heart with so much joy and I look forward to treasuring it forever. I really can’t thank you all enough for doing this for us. We are very thankful and grateful. Sending so much love to you all.
