I am afraid we bring very sad news. The lovely poster Shefliesonherownwings’ beautiful baby daughter Isla was stillborn at 41 weeks. Bless them all, such a devastating loss, we are so very sorry. No words really are there? She and her family are in our hearts and thoughts, and we send them our love.

We are so pleased that they have accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, see her message below, there will be love for Isla and them all in every stitch. We hope it may give whatever comfort it can to Shefliesonherownwings and her family.

The colours…
Warm purples
Pinks
Pastel blues
Apple/meadow/pistachio green
Then for accent colours (not whole squares) and embellishments
Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white

The Yarn we are Using….
Artesano Superwash Merino DK
Debbie Bliss Rialto DK
Drops Merino Extra Fine DK
Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK
Katia Merino 100% DK
King Cole Luxury Merino DK
Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
Patons Merino Extrafine DK

Just from the brands listed please because we know they combine for wash and wear. If you still have any of our wools that have been discontinued - Rowan Cashsoft DK, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK or James C. Brett Pure Merino DK in your stash, please do use them.

Our listed yarns are all easily available online - Try Wool Warehouse, Wise Badger, Laughing Hens.

If you have any yarn suitable from us for previous blankets please do use that. We can still get yarn out but it isn’t as straightforward or reliable at the mo.

We would love her name represented across the blanket and her initial I. Then thinking angel wings, footprints, hearts, flowers.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts. Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off VERY carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you!

Because of the current situation re Covid, we have suspended posting to us until after June 1st and because getting yarn out to crafters will take longer we are looking provisionally at a last posting of July 1st.

When posting, it will be the Teddington address, please make sure you add your name and who the squares are for, and if you would like to include a card for Isla’s family, please do, we will pass it on.

From Sheflies… I’m amazed that people have reached out and offered to do this for us and Isla, I really can't put into words how much this has meant to me. I'm very grateful and thankful to all those kind people.

Thank you so much everyone, remembering Isla, love to her family xxx

I think the Swiss embroidery was how the Harry Potter jumpers were made. But that’s another story Smile

Truly gorgeous squares on the thread, thank you so much. Thanks

Parcels have been arriving, what we are doing is storing them for a wee while to hopefully avoid importing the virus into our house ( I know I m paranoid!) then will get about opening and posting. But so many are safely here, thank you xxx

It's not about what is in the parcels that is a worry, it's just anything they may have picked up in transit xxx

DH will tell you I am paranoid Confused

I’m the same K&P.
The girlfriends of both of our sons had their birthdays last week so all presents were ordered online...so that meant many deliveries. I was leaving the packages in the utility room but each time I’d go through a paranoid episode of washing hands, wiping things down and using hand sanitiser, and then wondering if I’d disinfected the door key or the handle and going through the whole process again.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/06/2020 14:08

Quick question. I've knitted an "I" square in Drops apple green. I've got a little bit of purple and I crocheted a heart to add to the knitted square. Before I sew it on does it look better with or without the heart?

Okki · 10/06/2020 18:09

Well I'm going to be no help because I like both. Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/06/2020 18:29

Thanks Okki 🤣

I have checked with my creative department (DD1 and 2) and they say with so I'm going to sew it on.

ExpletiveDelighted · 10/06/2020 19:19

I think it's a nice touch.
