The Blanket for FiveGoMadInDorset and her family, lovely folk, we need help.

Such sad news from lovely FiveGoMadinDorset, her wonderful DH died towards the end of July from the bastard illness which is cancer. We send so much love to Five and her two wonderful children, aged just 13 and 11. Cancer is so cruel, and we are so sorry they are now without him, we send huge hugs to all who love and miss him. Her thread is here… if anyone would like to post.

FiveGoMadinDorset is one of our brilliant Woolly Hugs’ crew, such a compassionate soul who has helped countless families on here and with our other projects too, it’s time for us to do something woolly for her now. We are so glad she has accepted our offer for a blanket for her and the children. Can you help us? We shall need crafters and donors alike.

Five and their children have had a think of ideas to help make this a real tribute to him, a true celebration, and there's lots we hope folk can tackle, but please don’t feel daunted, simple squares are needed too.

Their ideas...
Star The family’s initials are D, S, E and S. But they all called him by his nickname Titch

The blue square is just about 6 inches if it's stretched out - it'll go over 6 if I crochet another row on though.

Oh wow. Never clicked on a woolly thread before, didn't know what it was.

You people are amazing.

I can't quite crochet a neat shape so I can't help, but I've been attempting something with the kids which is intended to be a family blanket one day. It's going to be so raggy and awful but it'll be ours.

I'll come back if I ever get good at it, this is beautiful. And I'm very sorry for your/ their loss Flowers

Inky - all levels are welcome - its the love that matters . Your family blanket sounds wonderful , and will be full of memories . Go and check out the Woolly Hugs threads , people are so wonderful , and help with so many different projects :)

I've done 4 very plain squares, not got much creative energy at the moment, but done with lots of love. Will get to the PO on Friday or Saturday.

I can’t do anything crafty, I consider myself competent if I manage to get all buttons in the right place when putting on a shirt. But would like to contribute in some way. Cash for wool supplies, or stamps to cover postage of stuff back and forth, I’d be grateful for any other suggestions
