Happy Easter to you all.
The talent and work ethic is awe- inspiring :)

Huge thanks to lovely Cecilia (from our Helpston, Peterborough Chernobyl group) for this message, means so much xxxx

Just a quick thank you to all you wonderful ladies (and gentleman) who are making blankets for the Chernobyl Children. I can't impress on you how much they are treasured and loved by the children. Also for their mothers who struggle so much and work so hard to just keep their children clothed and fed, to have a warm, pretty, colourful blanket in the house can make a massive difference to their emotional welfare - a stranger somewhere cared enough to make this for them. I see this first hand when I visit the families and are really grateful for you for bringing these hugs of love and hope. Thank you x

Yes thank you K&P - have you got chocolate poisoning ? Grin
It has been glorious here , but have been gardening rather than crafting .
How is the count going - still on track?

WitchDancer · 23/04/2019 19:50

I've eaten my own body weight in chocolate, but have tried to work it off in the garden too. I think I'm a little too late to do anything for this, but can be on standby for extra squares if necessary?

KnottyAndPistey · 24/04/2019 08:23

Morning!

The count is going very well and we are very optimistic. The deadline for whole blankets is yet to come, although it is very soon, and then Knots has three silver sacks of Chernobyl squares yet to sort. I have one. We always feel we are winging this project as it is impossible to tell for sure. But we are feeling very positive!

KnottyAndPistey · 24/04/2019 08:23

No idea why I say these things Gin

KnottyAndPistey · 24/04/2019 08:24

Normally we have the deadline for squares at the same time as whole blankets and that for us worked better, but crafters wanted longer, we totally get that!

KnottyAndPistey · 24/04/2019 08:26

What i do know is that I have 90 blankets stacked upstairs! And next week will be looking to sort blankets/extras for the first group arriving, which is always the Isle of Wight and they arrive on May 22nd.

I'm not sure if everyone has seen, but Knotty and I are off this morn to Belarus along with the Bristol Chernobyl group, amongst other things we get to visit the school the children come from and meet last year's group again plus the children coming this year. We are also able to deliver Billie's Blankets to some very sick children in Minsk. We are back on Sunday, so not long and will try to check in here as best we can. Both our families are still at home so parcels will be put carefully to be ready for us.

We are blogging and who knows even vlogging! Please do follow us.

Huge love to everyone Thanks xxxx

I'm really enjoying reading the blog! Those potato pancakes, I wonder if they're like the ones we were eating in Prague last month - if so they're very good and something I must attempt to make.

IDoLikeARainbow · 27/04/2019 13:50

lovong the blog and seeing the difference you are making. I’ve watched the project from afar but haven’t got round to making anything yet. Seeing your trip and doing some more research and it’s really hit a nerve, those kids just trying for a normal life. I know it’s too late for any more square this year but I’ve sent some extra bits over for you and as soon as I’ve finished the couple of baby blankets in my queue I’m starting on squares and hopefully a whole blanket for next year.
Huge thanks to all the crafters on this thread, what a lovely lot you are Smile

KnottyAndPistey · 30/04/2019 13:01

We are back!

I'm not sure we’ll ever make sense of it all or take it all in. Life changing. So glad we could and did. What an incredible adventure. Feel energised and inspired!
