Jingle - you could drive Newbury-Basingstoke-Alton-Selborne-A3 to Portsmouth in about 1.5 hours, bit of a long way round but fairly straightforward.

Ah thank you @meetontheledge will take a look at that route.

Dd has given me a very stern talking to about meeting up with people I have met on the internet. She was warning me about 'catfishing' and making sure I left my written contact details at home. Grin Bless her.

Elephant awwww. Bless. How old is she?

Jingle. I checked out the trains too. Rail replacement busses on most routes, so I decided I’d rather be in my own car stuck in traffic than RRB’s!

That's me rumbled elephant Grin .
But in reality - top marks to you that she knows all about it :)

LOL at “catfishing” 😂 people posing as yarn freaks to lure other yarn freaks to their doom.

I'm also going - I have a name badge and everything!

Another one bringing the family, DH and DS x 2 will be occupying themselves with something (not sure what but we have visited Portsmouth quite a bit in recent years and the DC love the museums). We are making a weekend of it - going to Southampton tomorrow to see the Titanic exhibit at the SeaCity museum as that is DS1's current history topic then driving across to Portsmouth for dinner and an overnight stay.

Sunday is also DSis's birthday so we need to get back up the A3 for her birthday dinner!

I have squares for the latest MN Woolly Hug, a blanket for the Little Hug project (I think) and most of a 12" square for the endeavours on Sunday (I got a little carried away the other night in anticipation). I had also hoped to finish an Angel Hug but I ran out of yarn and won't finish it tonight.

ChippingIn Dd is 13 Smile. I cut my name badge out at work today and resisted the temptation of glitter and leds.

WTAF I just assumed you’d be there!! Come on mate! You have to come!!

WhenDoISleep excellent. Organised with your name badge. I ran out of —creativity— time.

Elephants. Well done on getting that through to your DD. Though I agree with soupy...yarn catfishing 🤣. Your badge sounds interesting?

Have you gone with MN name, real name or both?

I’m in Southsea already - maybe I can get something Uber tacky at the pier tomorrow with my name on it 🤣

Report
SoupDragon · 28/09/2018 20:22

Sadly I can’t come as I have sad family duties this weekend.

Soupy I’m so sorry to hear that 💐. Maybe next time?

ChippingIn The schools are into e-safety, I am a teacher so I have to the course every year. So I suppose it is just ingrained, as it should be and my Dd gets the message loud and clear. As for my badge the clue to my MN name is in the graphic with my real name underneath.

Have a wonderful time everyone, I shall be thinking of you and turning greener and greener with envy by the hour (me ->Envy)
Safe journeys to you all! Smile

Elephants. That’s really good about the school. But even funnier in a way that she felt the need to tell you 🤣

I look forward to badge spotting!

Madison 😢 are you SURE your cousin doesn’t want to change the venue? The castle in Southsea looks very pretty inside & does weddings Excellent photo opportunities with the cannons etc outside 🤔

It’s such a shame - of ALL weekends 😣

I have done a very basic badge ( as I sort of forgot and ran out of proper creative time) , but I will be easy to spot. - I'm the oldie Grin
We will be setting off in an hour or so, so we have a few hours to mooch around Portsmouth , but just about to do a bit of crochet while DH gets himself up !

elephantoverthehill · 29/09/2018 08:56

ChippingIn, have you found someone to have dinner with yet? If you fancy jumping on a hovercraft I am more than happy to cook or suggest somewhere we can eat in Ryde. The invitation is open to anyone else at a loose end in Portsmouth tonight.

we have arrived in Southsea :)
Cor, how on earth do people cope with the M25 on a daily basis? We only had to do a little bit of it, and it was jammed and barely moving !

Meet0nTheIedge · 29/09/2018 14:53

I've been getting all my stuff ready, old pound coins, squares etc. I think I will come down a bit early tomorrow if the weather's nice, I like mooching around down there.

Sorry to link to Daily Fail but they have a much clearer illustration of the closures here.

@JingleBells99 I'm also coming down the A34 from Newbury and if I read this correctly I don't think we need to worry - at least getting there - not sure about coming back...
