Many of you have followed Niffler’s posts and have been very supportive as first her DH’s cancer was diagnosed as terminal back in October through to the devastating news of his death. Absolutely horrendous and so desperately sad, we are sorry that life has been so cruel, we send so much love to Niffler, we are thinking of her and her wonderful DH. Her most recent thread is here…

We are so glad that Niffler has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, there will be love in every stitch for her for sure, so we shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we shall need both and we can match you up. Lovely Niffler has given us many ideas for this Woolly Hug, it really will be a tribute to her DH.

He adored our dog (black and white Shih Tzu), his favourite colour was red and it was our colour scheme at our wedding.

He was a big Manchester United fan.

He worked in a toy shop and was very well respected.

He enjoyed gaming (Xbox mainly), watching tv shows (like supernatural, Grimm, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who)

He loved reading and read Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter a lot.

He loved history and went to see a Roman event a few months before he died. He loved the stars and could spend hours just looking at the night sky.

Lots of beautiful ideas for squares, but please don’t feel daunted, simple squares are needed too.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.*

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook. Please knot off carefully when finishing or changing colour and sew your ends in, thank you! Previous blankets can be seen on our website

When ready for posting, it will be the Teddington address, if you would like to include a card for Niffler, please do, we will pass it on.

Posted today - my attempts at stars in a night sky and hoping that the flower one isn't too holey.

My wool arrived, thank you so much - lovely Man Utd red so I'm having a think what to do with that, if I can do something Utd related.

My donated wool arrived yesterday - thank you. I've started on a knitte square today.

It looks fabulous. Lovely even stitching.

You need to darn in your loose ends (peskies) but don't block (pin out a dampened piece of work to size and leave to dry) - sorting your peskies makes it easier for construction, blocking makes it harder.

Thank you I need to go hunt for a darning needle.

I've run out of wool but have got one that's 5 inches rather than the required 6. I'll send it in with the others in the hope that something can be done with it. 😊

Right, so it seems I'm an imbecile. Despite the note from K&P reminding me which colour to use for which blanket, I've used the blue to make squares with stars.

I blame book - I remember seeing stars and blue in her picture!

Never mind, I think these are denim so will still be okay, I'll just have to try and get hold of some more blue for Iwant's blanket.

And I haven't even opened the wine yet!
