Just devastating. Like many we just couldn’t take it in that CatThiefKeith had died so suddenly from the bastard illness meningitis. Utterly shocking. Words really do fail, we are just so very sorry life has been so cruel to her, her DH, young daughter, their families and friends. We are so pleased to say that her DH has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, and we hope that he and their DD will feel our love and support and that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them. There is a thread here if you would like to post condolences She brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life, Mumsnet is a sadder place without her here.

We want to make it a real tribute and celebration of CTK, will you join us?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

Our palette for CTK is quite specific, so please do read carefully

  • Red, her DH has asked for it to be predominantly red, and we will be using these 2 for consistency one of these please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please. *Turquoise and lighter blues *Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white *Apple, pistachio and lime greens

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
Her DH has asked for any camper van motifs or designs and then ideas to come from her MN friends. Now different folk knew her in different ways, whether it was debating the existence of goldfish in funfairs or taking dogs on trains, many many stories were shared, and we would like to reflect these, so please, if you have an idea that you would like to share, please do, or post on the thread and we will try and get someone crafting it, but what we ask is that you send us a note we can pass on with the blanket to explain your ideas, help create a memory blanket for her DD. We hope that makes sense. xxx

I would love to make a camper van but I only have DB Rialto Taupe and and Tangerine. Would that be OK?

I see that you already have some very fine campervans!

flutterworc · 18/10/2017 12:49

Here’s my first effort!

All these squares are incredible. You're all so skilled. It's not one of my skills so I said I would donate instead and it's fantastic to see what the results are. BrewCake to all the crafters.

catmadcaz · 18/10/2017 12:56

Flutter I love your square!

Iwantacampervan · 18/10/2017 12:56

The squares are lovely - I partcularly like the Campervan (I think a knitted motif will be the nearest I get to one!) My contribution will be a couple of hearts unless I get creative over the weekend.
Do we have a last posting date please?

CommunistLegoBloc · 18/10/2017 12:57

Many, many thanks to my lovely donor. I've already done a few squares, but the ones on here are incredible Blush I fear my campervan looks more like a portaloo with an awkwardly placed window...

KnottyAndPistey · 18/10/2017 13:23

"a portaloo with an awkwardly placed window..."

Made me howl Grin

and even if it did, it kinda feels perfect for CTK!

Beautiful squares, you folk have such skills!

Thanks

my yarn has arrived. Thank you lovely donors.
I have orange with blue for accent/embelishments.

Any ideas about what I can knit? was going to keep it simple but I am loving the squares and want to do something fun. Trouble is I can't think of anything in those colours.

So, orange and blue?

Actually, I could do orange frame, blue water and a gold (orange) fish....

steppemum · 18/10/2017 15:16

Where did CatThiefKeith's name come from? I seem to remember there is a story behind it...

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 18/10/2017 15:44

My yarn has arrived, thank you so very very much Smile

Now I just need to crack on with it Gin

IDoLikeARainbow · 18/10/2017 21:30

Donor wool arrived, gorgeously soft red and white. Will get started on some squares at the weekend.

steppemum · 18/10/2017 21:31

well, I just sat down to have a knit and it is such a long time since I knitted a square that I can't remember - how many stitches for a 6 inch square?

I have found some lovely cat squares on-line too, now just have to decide which one to do

elephantoverthehill · 18/10/2017 21:36

Steppemum read the thread - the answers you seek are within. Wink

steppemum · 18/10/2017 21:37

Oh I've been searching the old threads and I've found it!

steppemum · 18/10/2017 21:38

sorry elephant, I read the first couple of pages and didn't see it, but found it in old threads!

elephantoverthehill · 18/10/2017 21:41

Please link to it on here Steppemum and the answer to your other question is 33 depending on your tension Smile.

steppemum · 18/10/2017 21:59

yes the answer i found was 33, which I now remember of course.
Sorry I have closed the other thread now.

flutterworc · 18/10/2017 22:16

Hoping this will block out a bit flatter! The white edge of the heart is 3D. In theory... Hmm

Flutter I think that is great and will block well. I just can't get my 'crochet head' on but that may be down to Dd nagging me to a few rows herself.
