Just devastating. Like many we just couldn’t take it in that CatThiefKeith had died so suddenly from the bastard illness meningitis. Utterly shocking. Words really do fail, we are just so very sorry life has been so cruel to her, her DH, young daughter, their families and friends. We are so pleased to say that her DH has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, and we hope that he and their DD will feel our love and support and that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them. There is a thread here if you would like to post condolences She brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life, Mumsnet is a sadder place without her here.

We want to make it a real tribute and celebration of CTK, will you join us?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

Our palette for CTK is quite specific, so please do read carefully

  • Red, her DH has asked for it to be predominantly red, and we will be using these 2 for consistency one of these please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please. *Turquoise and lighter blues *Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white *Apple, pistachio and lime greens
  • Orange - one of these please, Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK - Pumpkin (373) orDebbie Bliss Rialto DK - Tangerine (56) or Debbie Bliss Rialto DK - Burnt Orange (43) *Coral - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 55 only please *Lighter silver Just for embellishments please - Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe -

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
Her DH has asked for any camper van motifs or designs and then ideas to come from her MN friends. Now different folk knew her in different ways, whether it was debating the existence of goldfish in funfairs or taking dogs on trains, many many stories were shared, and we would like to reflect these, so please, if you have an idea that you would like to share, please do, or post on the thread and we will try and get someone crafting it, but what we ask is that you send us a note we can pass on with the blanket to explain your ideas, help create a memory blanket for her DD. We hope that makes sense. xxx

its not just ears... Wink

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 17/11/2017 23:34

Glad they arrived Smile

That sounds genius Soupy, what is it as well as ears? Did you take a pic?

SoupDragon · 17/11/2017 23:49

Oh, it's just a head. I did contemplate a whole removable cat but I'd left it so late I thought better of it!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 19/11/2017 19:28

Perfect interpretation of CatThiefKeith, she would have loved the swagbag Flowers

FiveGoMadInDorset · 22/11/2017 22:24

Finally finished my squares, will put them in the post on Friday

WitchDancer · 22/11/2017 23:33

I've finally finished filling my little box with extra candy squares so I'll be posting tomorrow. 💕

MrsHathaway · 23/11/2017 00:02

I think the nameless ones will have been mine, yes Blush I had to split the parcel after doing a Daddy Pig ("SIXTEEN POUNDS?!") and the nice post office lady pointing out I was only just over the weight limit and would be saving lots of money by splitting. Only I only put a note in one parcel...

EllenJanethickerknickers · 24/11/2017 14:37

Finally got to the post office! My squares have been finished for weeks but I can only get to the post office at weekends and had a couple of busy ones. Inset day today, I don't work insets. Grin Got my first bit of Christmas shopping done and had lunch out. Happy sigh.

Love the sound of the swag bag cat! Mine are just normal patterned but you need some plainer ones to make the gorgeousness stand out.

Knotty I am a numpty - I put mine in a dinky box with some candy Hugs on top of the purple bag that these squares were in but didn't put a note in 😊

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 27/11/2017 16:31

I finally got mine done (and you may have to squint/use your imaginations a little) Grin

One photo is of a set of squares from the Jan Eaton book, and the other set (which is going to require explanation) is based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld....

Top left - Rincewind's Hat
Top right - Rincewind's Luggage (a kind of sentient trunk with many legs, teeth and a big tongue)
Bottom left - A wee free man (fighting, thieving, tiny blue-skinned pictsies who were thrown out of Fairyland for being Drunk and Disorderly)
Bottom right - a very simplified version of the Great A'tuin (Giant Star Turtle who travels through the Discworld universe's space, carrying four giant elephants who in turn carry the Discworld.) I couldn't fit the elephants on Wink so it's just a turtle but the shell is done in the colours of the disc.

Lovely designs, Raptor.

Okkitokkiunga · 28/11/2017 10:20

What fab squares Raptor. Now I want to read the Discworld series.

K&P - I posted mine off yesterday but I sent one big parcel with the Hug I've joined and some Candy's squares. Hope that's ok.

SpiralArchitect · 28/11/2017 15:50

Raptor - those are fabulous!

I have finally posted mine Blush
The bottom right red and cream one is a pattern called Garden Gate, in honour of all those threads on the subject of the gate CTK's NDN put in the fence Grin

❤️❤️Love❤️❤️ those squares Raptor

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 02/12/2017 15:55

I'm really sorry. I missed the deadline - by a few hours! Blush I'm not sure if you'll be starting the construction over the Christmas break so I'll send them in January with squares for the other ongoing Woolly Hugs, and you can use them for this or for another project Flowers

VintageTeacup · 02/12/2017 21:05

Me to WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo just noticed the post on facebook. I'm wondering if it would be ok to do 1st class on Mon morning.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 02/12/2017 21:12

Oops. Though also a bit glad I'm not the only slacker Smile I think they're understandably quite strict about the holiday posting deadlines, but worth asking

VintageTeacup · 02/12/2017 21:20

I think I'll ask, my thinking is that if I post 1st class it has a chance to catch up with the other parcels.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 03/12/2017 18:10

Vintage please could you let me know if they say yes and I'll send mine too? :)

jetSTAR · 03/12/2017 20:56

Me three. Blush I missed the deadline too Sad think I will post tomorrow 1st class. ♥️ K&P

VintageTeacup · 04/12/2017 07:28

jetSTAR I'm going to do the same. I think most people would post 2nd class (makes sense with parcels) so if we do 1st they would arrive about the same time. And I'll write the next deadline on my calendar.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 04/12/2017 09:51

I’m going to post 1st class today too. One stripey and one embedded lacy goldfish square. It’s a bit of an experiment but it behaves as a square when pinned on the ironing board Wink
