Just devastating. Like many we just couldn’t take it in that CatThiefKeith had died so suddenly from the bastard illness meningitis. Utterly shocking. Words really do fail, we are just so very sorry life has been so cruel to her, her DH, young daughter, their families and friends. We are so pleased to say that her DH has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, and we hope that he and their DD will feel our love and support and that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them. There is a thread here if you would like to post condolences She brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life, Mumsnet is a sadder place without her here.

We want to make it a real tribute and celebration of CTK, will you join us?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

Our palette for CTK is quite specific, so please do read carefully

  • Red, her DH has asked for it to be predominantly red, and we will be using these 2 for consistency one of these please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please. *Turquoise and lighter blues *Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white *Apple, pistachio and lime greens

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
Her DH has asked for any camper van motifs or designs and then ideas to come from her MN friends. Now different folk knew her in different ways, whether it was debating the existence of goldfish in funfairs or taking dogs on trains, many many stories were shared, and we would like to reflect these, so please, if you have an idea that you would like to share, please do, or post on the thread and we will try and get someone crafting it, but what we ask is that you send us a note we can pass on with the blanket to explain your ideas, help create a memory blanket for her DD. We hope that makes sense. xxx

I have only just found this thread. So glad a Woolly Hug is being made.

I’m trying to work out how I can donate (or otherwise) from Canada.

MadisonAvenue · 01/11/2017 18:15

HeartsTrumpDiamonds if you go to www.woollyhugs.org there's s a Paypal button towards the bottom of the page for donations if that helps?

My squares are ready to post, just 3 plain red with different textures.

Is the posting address the same as always?

catmadcaz · 02/11/2017 20:36

Cat - that is fantastic.

I still giggle when I recall CTF in the tent, in the garden. in the pouring rain. She was a lovely lady and a FANTASTIC MNer!!

WitchDancer · 03/11/2017 08:09

Bewitched - the paperwork I had that came with the wool said The Teddington address x

I love that tent Cat! It was a thread that made me chuckle too

Jux · 03/11/2017 12:10

Love the tent, Cat. I remember that thread too - it was soooo funny!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 03/11/2017 17:10

Thanks WitchDancer.

WitchDancer · 03/11/2017 19:03

I'm done. Not the most exciting squares but they should offset all the themed ones 😁

Witch - they are lovely, as always.

WitchDancer · 03/11/2017 23:01

Thank you Book. A couple are slightly undersized because I ran out of wool, but I'm hoping that won't be too much of a problem.

Now all I need to do is get going on some Candy hugs to fill the box 😁

bookbook · 03/11/2017 23:13

I don't think it will be a problem - I am just finishing a construction, and they do vary a bit in size , but it seems to sort itself out in the end - well with this one , just about! :)

WitchDancer · 04/11/2017 09:50

You're brave Book! I don't think I've advanced enough to construct just yet. My own stuff maybe, but not something as important as a hug. Plus there's the 'not enough hours in the day to do all the projects I want to do' factor too.

catmadcaz · 04/11/2017 11:42

Lovely squares witch I love the crochet ones but I can only manage granny squares in crochet. That's why I always knit my squares and that's all thanks to my mum who taught me when I was a child. Sadly she died many years ago but I always think she carries on through my knitting Smile

TheSquatLobster · 05/11/2017 23:42

These squares are just fabulous, you are all amazing. I've used up all the wool you sent me, K & P and 4 squares will be on their way shortly. I think you will be inundated with squares but please let me know if you need more. Otherwise I'll go back to my Candy's Hugs.

Okkitokkiunga · 06/11/2017 13:27

Well I have been practising 'themed' squares and they're awful so I'm back to my original idea of plain ones. Everyone has produced such lovely squares.

KnottyAndPistey · 06/11/2017 17:22
