Just devastating. Like many we just couldn’t take it in that CatThiefKeith had died so suddenly from the bastard illness meningitis. Utterly shocking. Words really do fail, we are just so very sorry life has been so cruel to her, her DH, young daughter, their families and friends. We are so pleased to say that her DH has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, and we hope that he and their DD will feel our love and support and that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them. There is a thread here if you would like to post condolences She brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life, Mumsnet is a sadder place without her here.

We want to make it a real tribute and celebration of CTK, will you join us?

We shall need crocheters, knitters and donors. If you would like to donate wool or funds, we can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, we can help there too. Please message with your offer of help.

Our palette for CTK is quite specific, so please do read carefully

  • Red, her DH has asked for it to be predominantly red, and we will be using these 2 for consistency one of these please, Drops Merino Extra Fine 11 Red, or Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM6 ‘Ruby’ please. *Turquoise and lighter blues *Cream, one of the following - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 02 ecru, Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM4 cream, or Drops Merino 01 off white *Apple, pistachio and lime greens
  • Orange - one of these please, Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK - Pumpkin (373) orDebbie Bliss Rialto DK - Tangerine (56) or Debbie Bliss Rialto DK - Burnt Orange (43) *Coral - Debbie Bliss Rialto DK 55 only please *Lighter silver Just for embellishments please - Jenny Watson Pure Merino DK WM7 Taupe -

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
Her DH has asked for any camper van motifs or designs and then ideas to come from her MN friends. Now different folk knew her in different ways, whether it was debating the existence of goldfish in funfairs or taking dogs on trains, many many stories were shared, and we would like to reflect these, so please, if you have an idea that you would like to share, please do, or post on the thread and we will try and get someone crafting it, but what we ask is that you send us a note we can pass on with the blanket to explain your ideas, help create a memory blanket for her DD. We hope that makes sense. xxx

Late to this but could I please have some wool? I'd like two colours if possible but happy to do plain otherwise. I've not done much for Woolly Hugs lately as RL has become rather busy, but I'd like to do something for CTK. I'll PM you, K & P.

diamantegal · 24/10/2017 18:54

That's because I was being confusing! Don't worry, I'll Wool Warehouse it now. Squares to follow in a few weeks!

MadisonAvenue · 25/10/2017 10:54

My squares are on the way to you.

Whatsthatbrightlght · 25/10/2017 12:24

Had a wool delivery this morning, second time lucky as the first lot didn't arrive, so I'm ready to go. I have blue and white. Are there any ideas for squares that haven't been made? I don't have a specific memory if CTK myself just that she was always so funny and kind. I can do initials in bobble stitch if initials are known and needed, or any other inspiration gratefully received.

Jux · 26/10/2017 14:23

DoubleR you could so CTK; it would be like a secret code Grin

MrsHathaway · 26/10/2017 14:34

Just wrapped my parcel and will drag DC2 to the post office after school 👍

Hotchick1972 · 26/10/2017 15:38

A bit late to the party, but I have made a small donation via paypal for this excellent project x

MrsHathaway · 26/10/2017 16:10

Back from post office. Splitting into two parcels will save nearly £8 in postage (!!) so I'll try again tomorrow.

bookbook · 26/10/2017 16:25

I'm a big fan of the small parcel 2nd class at £2.90 . I now just parcel up when it about right -size rather than weight is usually the issue ( needs to be no bigger than 45 cm x 35 cm x16 cm , so a lot of squishing goes on! And - I sent mine on Tuesday afternoon, and it is already there :)

MrsHathaway · 26/10/2017 17:57

It was weight this time: maximum is 2kg and it was 2090g Hmm I think 90g was packing tape tbh. There's a construction project in there as well and I was trying to be efficient . Never mind. Ted Towers' postie loves parcels by number rather than by weight...

BigApple11 · 26/10/2017 20:35

@HemanOrSheRa pics coming up... I got a bit stuck with these. Very odd. Like writers block....I put it down to explaining to my children who I was making these squares for...I told them they are for a blanket for a little girl whose mum died very suddenly. It threw me for a while...anyway here they are.
Roses, because, well LOVE.

Sorry they posted upside down!!

MrsHathaway · 26/10/2017 21:52

Very nice indeed.

What's the pattern for the red one next to the hearts one? Love the detail.

bookbook · 26/10/2017 21:57

MrsH - always the way - I posted out books a lot while still working, so am super vigilant about weight even now !
BigApple - beautiful squares

BigApple11 · 26/10/2017 22:08
