Woolly Hugs. Remembering Joseph, we are making a blanket for Trazzletoes and family, can you help?

Sitting here trying to find the words as with true sadness we are starting this thread for our wonderful Trazzles. Her beautiful, smiling, sparkling Joseph devastatingly died from neuroblastoma in July. Many of us followed their ongoing journey, that rocky old road, dedicating our ‘splodges of light’ around the globe as we thought of them, always sending love. Joseph touched the hearts and lives of so many, as did his mum, ours included. We are so sorry. He will live long in our memories, bless him.

We are so glad that Trazzletoes has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, it will truly have love in every stitch for her, DH and DD, and as a tribute and celebration of a life filled with love for Joseph.

She said… His favourite colour was pink, followed by blue. He loved swimming, water and the seaside - we spent a lot of time on the beach in Scarborough. We had a lot of nicknames for him, but the most common one was "fish". He enjoyed rock climbing in the Pennines and watched Pokémon endlessly. He was always happy and never stopped smiling, he was full of love.

Thanks

Now parallel to this Knotty and I would very much like to organise a fundraiser in Joseph’s name, and we would like to make a blanket in this colour scheme to auction in the run up to Christmas. We asked Trazz to think of a charity she would like us to support and she has chosen the Candlelighters charity who support families facing children's cancer in Yorkshire. They get involved in all sorts of different projects to help ordinary families who are facing extraordinary circumstances, and they supported Joseph and his family over the years. So pleased we can do this for them too with your love and support. xx

So we are asking for extra squares. Please help with this too if you can, and parcel them separately ‘Candlelighters’

I have lovely grape, turquoise and jade in sublime merino. Does anyone know off top of their head how many stitches for 6inches? I'm too lazy to knit a tension square! Also can you on me the address to send finished squares to? Thanks kat

I am in, but would need to be paired for some yarn. I will do some block colour squares if that's ok?

Will happily make for both. This is my first Wooly Hug so what do I need to do?

jester - I am a loose-ish knitter , I find 30 stitches about right for me for 6" so be prepared

Report
jesterkat · 18/09/2017 21:05

I did 33 and knitted 5 rows in ss it measured just 15 cm and then I looked up conversions 6 inch is 15.9 cm so I think I'm going with 34 stitches.

Report
bookbook · 18/09/2017 21:14

15 cm is just about 6" I think? It is easier for the constructors if its a tweak small, rather than a tweak big IYSWIM :)
