This is a project to help community nurses who are on the hunt for more of these valuable props to enhance their breastfeeding support sessions. With so many babies born every year, they really do get through a lot! Breastfeeding is not always easy, and the woolly knockers are fabulous to help with latching, feeding, positioning and expressing demonstrations, and are such a useful tool for both new mums and staff.

Some of you will remember we have run very successful similar projects for the Brompton and Portsmouth a few years ago. Heading photo on this page from back in 2015. Thanks

All the money in the world cannot buy this product so it’s a labour of love for the team. It's fun too! Thank you. x

“It doesn’t matter about the colour, shape or size, we are really thankful to everyone who knits and makes donations to us, and we would be very grateful to receive any more- the more the better!”

We’d love to be able to help them, will you join us?

Crafting info...

The Knitting pattern is here, on the Breastfeeding Network…

A suggested crochet pattern is here on Ravelry….

If you find others, do share any with us, so we can pass the info on. Thank you.

We’re suggesting any DK wool that can be machine washed, it's a great stash buster, but we do have yarn available if needed. Just message us x

If you are able to stuff them, please do, but we will also love to receive them flat, cheaper for you to post too, and stuff this end, if this option, please leave a long tail for finishing off.

Once your knocker is finished, please contact us we will give you all the details for posting, it will be the Woolly Hugs, South coast address.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, we really aren’t making a standard knocker here, differences are good!

If you need any more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We could do with more than a handful. 😀

As ever, many thanks.
Bless you… and your knockers. xx

I disguised mine in with a stack of squares. Grin

I made some for a friend who is a breastfeeding support worker. DS (10) was a wee bit freaked out when he saw them looking rather perky on the side table GrinGrin

NormansNipple · 29/06/2017 20:20

I sent mine with a few squares but you could still feel the roundness in the bag. book I think some post people are familiar with woolly hugs because they don't ask what's in my package. Why do they need to know anyway I wonder?

My friends have been fascinated with them. I think we are a boob obsessed society!

Woolly Grin at your son! Hope you're doing ok, how's the shoulder?

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/06/2017 20:34

I had a cortisone injection a couple of weeks ago which has reduced the pain quite significantly but hasn't increased my movement so I'm going under the knife in August Norm. I'm looking forward to being waited on by my ever loving family HmmGrin while I recuperate. I've already been out and bought some new Jim-jams especially for my hospital stay.

Woolly - and you are still managing to crotchet amazing stuff! Hope the op sorts it out for you - it's a bone spur isn't it?
They are learning now at the PO - but they still ask - I seem to get a different one behind the counter every time ( mind you, there are 5 or 6 who work on a rota I think)
All I got was DH saying they aren't very life like are they ......!

NormansNipple · 29/06/2017 22:30

That's good news Woolly hopefully they will sort it out for good and you will be a new woman! I'd get the family practising now if I were you. Request a few foot rubs and the like. You could even wear your new jim jams Grin A bone spur sounds very painful though, Wine for you.

book maybe your boobs would have been more life like if you'd stuffed them Grin

KnottyAndPistey · 30/06/2017 08:14

Norm - your party knocker made us WEEP Grin

One solitary small knitted boob dropped off at Seeded this afternoon!

NormansNipple · 02/07/2017 20:35

I'm glad Norman the Knocker didn't disappoint Grin

Please don't worry about your lonely boob campervan I'm sure it will soon find many friends to jiggle around with.

PurpleFrog · 06/07/2017 14:18

Sorry - I discovered yesterday that I had remembered the wrong last posting date for this. Blush There is one in the post to Teddington Towers as of lunchtime today with a bundle of other stuff. It is already stuffed, but if it doesn't make this batch I'm sure it can used for a later one.

KnottyAndPistey · 13/07/2017 09:25

Perky nork Purple, thank you! x

Did you get a yellow/pink pair from me?

Younger DS thought it hilarious Mummy had knitted a pair of bobbies and kept giggling over them. He insisted that more stuffing could be fitted in.
