This is a project to help community nurses who are on the hunt for more of these valuable props to enhance their breastfeeding support sessions. With so many babies born every year, they really do get through a lot! Breastfeeding is not always easy, and the woolly knockers are fabulous to help with latching, feeding, positioning and expressing demonstrations, and are such a useful tool for both new mums and staff.

Some of you will remember we have run very successful similar projects for the Brompton and Portsmouth a few years ago. Heading photo on this page from back in 2015. Thanks

All the money in the world cannot buy this product so it’s a labour of love for the team. It's fun too! Thank you. x

“It doesn’t matter about the colour, shape or size, we are really thankful to everyone who knits and makes donations to us, and we would be very grateful to receive any more- the more the better!”

We’d love to be able to help them, will you join us?

Crafting info...

The Knitting pattern is here, on the Breastfeeding Network…

A suggested crochet pattern is here on Ravelry….

If you find others, do share any with us, so we can pass the info on. Thank you.

We’re suggesting any DK wool that can be machine washed, it's a great stash buster, but we do have yarn available if needed. Just message us x

If you are able to stuff them, please do, but we will also love to receive them flat, cheaper for you to post too, and stuff this end, if this option, please leave a long tail for finishing off.

Once your knocker is finished, please contact us we will give you all the details for posting, it will be the Woolly Hugs, South coast address.

Women come in all shapes and sizes, we really aren’t making a standard knocker here, differences are good!

If you need any more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We could do with more than a handful. 😀

As ever, many thanks.
Bless you… and your knockers. xx

Ahhhh Jux!

I have bad news on my booby front. I started sewing the two bits together, realised that I had put them together right side/wrong side, so started to unpick, hit a snag, got the scissors out............

Sad Alas my booby is no more.

I do, however, have a large number of squares. I think the colours are all mixed up, and I have used a lot of what I think is clematis. There are Zombie colours and Candy colours definitely, but I think there may be others too.

bookbook · 29/05/2017 17:22

oh no Jux - thats heartbreaking.
I have put this to one side, as am frantically doing Manchester squares - they need those soonest.

Jux · 29/05/2017 20:19

What colours for Manchester?

TheWoollybacksWife · 29/05/2017 20:41

I've looked for a Manchester thread but can't find one, so apologies for the slight hijack.

I can do construction for a Manchester blanket if required.

bookbook · 29/05/2017 20:56

Woolly - I have found it! - It's on the Babettes/Billies Blankets/Little Hugs thread - I have just posted on there

Is anyone else struggling with the crochet booby pattern? The top bit is ok but I'm confused with the stitch counts on the base bit.

This part....

Base for boobs
Make magic ring with main breast colour
Round 1: 6dc into mr
Close ring
Round 2: 2 dc into each stitch (6)
Round 3: (inc, dc) x 6 (12)

I feel I should be able to work out what to do but my brain is not working properly! Has anyone else got a corrected version?

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/06/2017 21:36

For round 3 you work 2dc into every stitch of the previous round - turning 6 stitches into 12.

NormansNipple · 07/06/2017 22:45

Thanks Woolly but you start with 6dc in your magic ring, then it says for round 2 do 2 dc in each stitch which means you already have 12 before you start round 3. I've decided to just ignore the stitch counts. My boobs might be a bit wonky on the bottom but the tops look nice Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/06/2017 22:47

Same here and mine aren't even woolly Sad eyes wonky knockers ruefully

NormansNipple · 08/06/2017 12:38

GrinGrin oh sorry Woolly but that made me laugh! Flowers for your wonky knockers. If it makes you feel any better I'm getting nipple envy. Mine are looking very petite compared to their crocheted counterparts. Maybe I should use a smaller hook...

KnottyAndPistey · 14/06/2017 10:02

Women come in all shapes and sizes and degrees of wonky! It is all just fabulous, thank you xxxxxx

NormansNipple · 29/06/2017 18:40

That was Norman the party booby! I'm glad he got there safe. I think K&P liked him Grin Has anyone else had the embarrassing conversation at the post office counter? I used the PO in Waitrose which made it even worse!
Waitrose PO lady: What's in here?
Me: I crocheted some stuff for charity.
WPOL: Clothes?
Me: No I crocheted some boobs Blush
WPOL: Boots?
Me: Yes Blush
WPOL: HmmConfused

bookbook · 29/06/2017 19:22

I wimped out and sent them flat in a large letter envelope! Problem solved :)
Though I do have lots of conversations in the PO when I do send a parcel- people are very interested
