We have heard the dreadfully sad news that RubbishMantra’s husband died suddenly last month. Mental ill health is such a cruel and devastating illness. Bless his heart. Bless them both. We send RubbishMantra our love and are so sorry for her loss. She is in our hearts and thoughts.

We are so glad that she has accepted our offer of a Woolly Hug, we hope it may give whatever comfort it can. There will be love crafted into every stitch. RubbishMantra’s thread is here…

Yin-yang signs were of great importance to the couple
Their Star-signs are Sagittarius and Virgo.
If anyone can embroider onto a square we have their secret nicknames for each other.
He had purple and white roses at his funeral.
They loved their cats.

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Hello lovely people,

I just wanted to pop in and thank you. All the squares sound beautiful, so much work and kindness. I've bought a beginners' guide to crocheting, so maybe I can contribute to somebody else's Woolly Hug once I've had some practice.

I received my memorial jewelry this week - our 2 wedding rings melted together with a glass heart set into it, with some of DH's ashes in the glass heart. They look like stars, twinkling in a night sky. His fingerprint is etched onto the shank of the ring.

Here's a photograph of the ring I had made from DH's and my wedding rings. The sparkly bits (like star-stuff) in the glass heart are some of his ashes.

I received my woolly hug today. I can't put into words how much I love it, because words don't do this beautiful creation justice. It's not a blanket, it's a 3 dimensional work of art.

I've looked at every single square, and marvelled at them all.

I think I may have mentioned upthread that DH used to make a lot of collages. So to have a big, woolly collage made by you all is the best thing ever.

Thank you also for the lovely cards and sentiments inside them.

It came early this morning, and I took it up to bed with me and had a little snooze, cuddling it.
