I'm afraid we bring sad news. Jchocchip's husband died very suddenly and unexpectedly in July. Such devastation for this poor family, we are so sorry that life has been so cruel. Our love and thoughts are with her, their three children, family and friends. Jchocchip’s thread is here if you would like to send a message.

We offered to make jchocchip a Woolly Hug to show our love, support and to offer what comfort we can, and we are delighted she accepted. So we will need help from our wonderful blanketeers once again - crocheters, knitters and donors, (of funds or wool) can anyone help us? If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM me (RatherBeOnThePiste) with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, I can help you with all of it. We can't really say thank you enough.

Thanks Thanks Thanks

Ideas and suggestions for squares.
jchocchip and her DH had recently celebrated their Silver wedding anniversary, and he absolutely loved board games, so jchocchip suggests dice, other ideas there too.

Squares to be 6 inches, using 4mm hook or needles. All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts. Post crafting/ colour queries on here or PM Knotty (KnottyLocks) she will be able to help you. Please remember that we love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and play a vital role in the overall effect.

Our Crafting Guide is a good place for support, and if new to us previous blankets can be seen on our website too. This will give you an idea of the sort of blankets we make.

When finished please sew in those ends but don’t block your work. Then PM for details for posting.

If not already, please do join us on Facebook MNWoollyHugs and Twitter @MNWoollyHugs These are both good ways of keeping in touch.

As always heartfelt thanks for your support. Thanks

Thinking of jchocchip, her beloved DH, their family and friends.
Pistey and Knotty xx

sorry I see that board games is quite a big genre, so what are we thinking snakes and ladders, monopoly pieces, scrabble letters, mousetrap?

pistey would a snake and a ladder be OK? I could do that.

HorsesDogsNails · 23/11/2014 20:55

What sad news, count me in for a square..... Will pm now

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 23/11/2014 20:58

So sorry to hear the sad news. Love and best wishes to jchopchip and family.

Knotty, would grey count as silver, for the embellishments? If not, which particular shades are appropriate, please?

KnottyLocks · 23/11/2014 21:25

Fan, snakes and ladders sounds fabulous.

YeGods, grey counts as silver here Smile

MarthaCostello · 23/11/2014 21:39

Signing in, I will do a couple of squares, will PM too. Thank you all for organising this Flowers x

Allalonenow · 23/11/2014 21:43

Such sad news.
I'd be glad to join in with plain squares. I've got some Rialto blues, so don't need yarn.

Thinking about the embelishments, on the WH facebook page for the craft sale is an incredibly clever knitted O&X game, maybe that would work, with the board as the square and a drawstring bag for the knitted or button counters? Just a thought, I wouldn't even know how to begin to make something like that.

Primrose123 · 23/11/2014 21:43

I would like to help, I will PM Pistey.

KnottyLocks · 23/11/2014 22:06

The tic tax toe game would make a lovely square, although we try to avoid using buttons as they affect the wash and wear of the blanket.

WhoremoaneeGrainger · 23/11/2014 22:13

Hi Pistey and Knotty. Have pm'd you Pistey about other stuff, but have a question for Knotty about silver embellishments. Do you mean silver grey, or can I use silver sparkly yarn?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/11/2014 22:47

Hello lovely Whore. Tis probs best to stick with the yarns listed so we know they will wash and wear, but there are some lovely silvery greys to be had.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/11/2014 22:48

Thank you everyone, such an amazing response. Thanks

Will PM you.
I will do some squares. So sad to be doing these again.

Jacksmania · 25/11/2014 00:08

I'm in for this one, too.

Jacksmania · 25/11/2014 00:09

I think for a previous blanket, we said that Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK in Julep was close enough for Duck's Egg Blue?

Jacksmania · 25/11/2014 03:56

I've finished one square in a pale ducky egg blue. Played around with a stitch variation, I think it's quite pretty. Will post tomorrow.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/11/2014 09:15
