Mia’s Wood is an area of woodland bought in memory of beautiful red headed Mia who was just 13 months old when she very sadly died in October 2011. If you have read MiaAlexandrasMummy’s threads about her daughter, you will not have failed to be moved by her love which pours out.

In her memory, Mia's family are developing this natural space for the local community around Milton Keynes and in Buckinghamshire to love and enjoy, and already trees and flowers have been planted. They have great plans to take this forward and develop the site further, making it truly magical. It really is such an inspirational, fantastic project, and in September we are planning a fundraiser to help them do this.

What the family say about Mia's Wood
Mia's Wood hopes to pass on Mia's love of nature to local families, children and young people, and especially to bereaved families. At Mia's Wood, we want to create an environment which promotes an innocent wonder of nature, to stimulate curiosity and imagination, to encourage children to preserve our fragile natural woodland through both visits and special events. For bereaved families in particular, we would like to think that visits to Mia's Wood will provide both hope and solace.

Just beautiful.

We are going to run an online Woodland themed Craft sale in a very similar way to our successful Christmas and Easter fundraisers. We will also be auctioning a beautiful Autumnal and Woodland themed Woolly Hug as part of our fundraiser.

Information for Crafters.
We are looking to make and sell small/lightweight Woodland/ Autumnal items, sewn, crocheted, knitted, crafted, the how is up to you! To keep postage costs to a minimum we ask that ideally anything made can be sent on to a buyer in a Large envelope, which is 35cm by 25cm, no thicker than 2.5cm, 750g max. Or smaller obvs :)

So we are thinking :
Leafy and trees
Squirrels
Snails
Rabbits
They have sheeeeeeep!
Birds

BIRRRRRDDDDDIIIEEEESSSS!

So excited Grin

stealthsquiggle · 14/07/2014 23:27

Um...little mini birdies - any use to you? Lousy photo as they're not very good at posing but that is a 1p piece for scale - there are 2 more robins nearly finished and I am sure I could produce a few more between now and the deadline? Do say if they're not right as I am sure I can find them another home if need be...

MrsKwazii · 15/07/2014 08:00

SWEET TINY BIRDIES!

SarahAndFuck · 15/07/2014 08:10

I kept misreading 'birdies' as 'brides' and wondering what I was missing. I think it's more coffee. Grin

The bunnies, the birdies (and the tiny minion) are all lovely Smile

Galena · 15/07/2014 08:20

Off to get hedgehog eyes today... (now that's a phrase I didn't expect to say - ever!)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/07/2014 09:01

Morning everyone :) Brew

Arf at us selling teeny brides, never say never though Grin

And Galena - enjoy!

stealthsquiggle · 15/07/2014 10:17

mini brides could be more complicated to make than the birdies!

OK, it seems I will be making some more robins (and chicks?) to add to the flock before they take off, then. I may also have made the mistake of looking at the Pinterest board, but who knows if I will have time to do anything with all that inspiration...

I need that slug. He is amazing.

SarahAndFuck · 15/07/2014 11:52

If we started selling tiny brides we would also have to make one tiny green bridezilla to go with them.

That slug is mine stealth, mine!

Galena · 15/07/2014 11:58

Loooooooook!

MrsKwazii · 15/07/2014 15:01

I don't know why, but I think I need a woolly slug in my life.

MrsKwazii · 15/07/2014 15:04

I love the hedgie too! Uh-oh, the woolly-want-mist is descending again Confused Wink

PastaBow · 15/07/2014 15:49

This sale is like the Lakeland Plastics of yarn. 'I didn't know I needed a knitted slug until I saw him'.

Galena · 15/07/2014 16:32

I may have bought some autumnal wool to make another mousy...

PeachyTheSanctiMoanyArse · 15/07/2014 18:42

I shall see what I can sew, carnival costume making kicks off soon so perfect timing to get back in swing

Tarlia · 15/07/2014 19:44

Don't know about a woolly hug auction, I think we will need to have a slug auction!!

Lovely photos, Ladies! Rabbit baby rattle, just short of an ear.

You can do it, pants, just lots of pinning before sewing, you sort of stab the pins in to anchor, very different to normal pinning. I hadn't even considered woodland stories...

HoggyTruffle · 15/07/2014 20:45

I'm signing up for this one and will see what I can come up with. The only problem is I keep getting stuck on that pinterest page for hours!

KnottyLocks · 15/07/2014 21:45

Ooooooooooooooo Hodgehegs!

Smashing.

I'm having a go at some snails.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2014 21:56

Pinterest

Between that and MN my DCs are feral Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/07/2014 23:14

Not eating them are you? Snails?

Galena · 16/07/2014 10:13

Hmmm. What to make next...
