We recently heard the tragic news that CritterPants’ son James died on the evening of the day he was born following devastating complications. There is no separate thread, Critter has been a rock to so many on the Conception TTC 10+++ thread, she still is, and is being supported there. Our thoughts are with James, Critter, her DH, their families and friends. Please do use this thread for messages to the family.

We have offered to make a blanket and lovely Critter has said she is so grateful and moved that we would do this kind and generous thing and that it means the world to her and her DH. Bless her heart. We hope that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can.

Thanks

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us? ?

Knotty ( KnottyLocks ) will help with any crafting queries. All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts. Please do PM Knotty if you need help.

If you would like to donate wool or funds, I can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, I can help there too.
Please PM me with your offers of help ( RatherBeOnThePiste)

Suggestions for squares
Snowflakes, bobbles, stars, stripes (Critter lives in the States with her American DH) and we have initials, both individually and if anyone can do a design with 3 initials on one square do message us.

Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info such as help with buying colours, recommended online retailers and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for patterns. Squares to be 6 inches, using 4mm hook or needles.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs/@MNWoollyHugs which are both good ways to keep in touch.

As always heartfelt thanks for your support

Thinking of baby James and his family

My wonky stars and stripes square is ready to post, all peskies sewn in [bitter emoticon, there were a lot!!!], I meant to post it last week but have been flat out and in bed with the flu. Will hopefully post tomorrow or Tuesday.

BellaVita · 23/02/2014 21:40

Jack, I have a stack of squares for the other woolly projects that I have sat down with today and sewn all the bloody ends in it took me forever!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/02/2014 22:45

Peskies are by their nature pesky.

Beautiful butterfly Bella and fret not. All is well. X

jacks, hope you are fully recovered soon. Flu is awful. X

I posted squares over the weekend. I can't remember if I added a note or not. So the ones from Finland are for Critter's blanket. I don't imagine there are too many coming from this neck of the woods.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2014 07:07

Thanks lovely, not many others no, actually I think you are the Finnish Branch of the International Blanketeers :)

Morning Brew

Somersaults · 24/02/2014 09:33

Morning all. Mine might get posted today if the weather here brightens up and I venture out to the post office. How lovely that sounds to a full time teacher who is finally on half term and home with my little one! The fact that I might be able to leisurely walk out to the post office if I feel like it on a Monday morning is such a luxury. Ill pm you now Pistey for an address.

Jacksmania · 24/02/2014 17:46

So MasterFlea is the Finnish branch, I am the Canadian branch... are there any more one-person branches? :)

I'm still rather flat. And we have gobs and gobs and GOBS of snow, a rarity here on the West Coast, so I won't be going out to post my square today. Boo.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 24/02/2014 18:38

Just popping in to keep you on my list, so I can check whether my squares arrive! Beautiful butterfly btw!

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2014 20:30

Aww, lovely butterfly Bella Smile

Yus Jacks, you are it! Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2014 22:18

Evening all :)

Was out today and missed the postie. I have a red card, so if you had hoped to see arrivals today, that's where they are. I will go and collect first thing tomorrow.

Thanks
ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 25/02/2014 11:02

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2014 11:21

Will get back to you on that Hop Thanks We still have folk joining us.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 25/02/2014 11:29

OK, I've managed to totally bollox up my arm and knitting is taking substantially longer than I had planned!

Poutintrout · 25/02/2014 13:58

My wool has arrived but I am having problems with the sizing. This is my third attempt now and I have just measured my square to be 6.5 inches wide. I'm guessing that the squares have to be precisely sized & I will be unthreading this one too! understands now the importance of watching the "boring" YouTube tutorial on gauge

Kveta · 25/02/2014 14:12

just checking in as this thread fell off my threads i'm on.

I've made 2 squares so far, but would love to do a star one - does anyone have any crochet star square patterns they'd recommend?

TheNinjaGooseIsHooking · 25/02/2014 14:54

Kveta, I've used this one before, it works up bigger than 6in but once square (after round 6 I think) a round or 2 in uk tr makes it the right size. I've also used this one with a couple of extra rounds to size up.

lovesLemonDrizzleCake · 25/02/2014 16:58

Phew, just breathing a sigh of relief! Crochet with donated wool is more stressful as it has to be very pretty and must arrive. It did :) the wavy pattern is what I am using for a baby blanket for our IVF boy, due in June. It felt apt to put a little if that in critter's blanket!

KnottyLocks · 25/02/2014 17:15

Pout, send your 6.5 " square, we'll manage. We tend to have a few variations on 6 inches Smile

Somersaults · 25/02/2014 18:31

Pistey did you get my pm yesterday? I'm not nagging, only asking as it is unlike you to not reply. I'm wondering whether or not I actually clicked on send.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2014 18:59

I replied no?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/02/2014 19:02

I honestly thought I'd replied! I remember agreeing with you about the coffee, clearly I needed more too, or the PM system did, most likely me though!
