We recently heard the tragic news that CritterPants’ son James died on the evening of the day he was born following devastating complications. There is no separate thread, Critter has been a rock to so many on the Conception TTC 10+++ thread, she still is, and is being supported there. Our thoughts are with James, Critter, her DH, their families and friends. Please do use this thread for messages to the family.

We have offered to make a blanket and lovely Critter has said she is so grateful and moved that we would do this kind and generous thing and that it means the world to her and her DH. Bless her heart. We hope that the blanket may give whatever comfort it can.

Thanks

So once again we are calling on the Blanketeers for help - whether it be donating, knitting or crocheting. Will you join us? ?

Knotty ( KnottyLocks ) will help with any crafting queries. All crafting abilities genuinely welcome, squares made by beginner or expert are equally welcomed. It really is the love and thought that counts. Please do PM Knotty if you need help.

If you would like to donate wool or funds, I can match you up. If you would like to join in but need donated wool, I can help there too.
Please PM me with your offers of help ( RatherBeOnThePiste)

Suggestions for squares
Snowflakes, bobbles, stars, stripes (Critter lives in the States with her American DH) and we have initials, both individually and if anyone can do a design with 3 initials on one square do message us.

Do use the crafting guide on the website to help you with lots of practical info such as help with buying colours, recommended online retailers and if interested there are a lot of linked suggestions for patterns. Squares to be 6 inches, using 4mm hook or needles.

Previous blankets can be seen on the Woolly Hugs website and we are on Facebook and Twitter at MNWoollyHugs/@MNWoollyHugs which are both good ways to keep in touch.

As always heartfelt thanks for your support

Thinking of baby James and his family

Pistey and Knotty Thanks

That link from Ninjagoose was the one I followed when I learnt. Very useful. And I watched a couple of Catherine Hirst videos too, just to get me going.

Morning all, just to let you know I posted three cream squares today. One wavy pattern (made square inexpertly) cos it's the pattern I am using for the babyblanket I am making for ours expected in June; one with a sort of sun in it, cos I hope the sun will start shining again on critter and mrC and James' twiblings (as we've christened them on the 10++ thread) and one granny square as I ran out of wool to make something more complex.

PrincessChick · 20/02/2014 09:47

This is what I have made this morning... Please tell me if it's too wonky to include and I'll start again. Otherwise I'll add another round later. X

Princess, if you look at the top left corner I think you've missed a set of 3 Trebles which is why it's gone a little wobbly.

KnottyLocks · 20/02/2014 10:07

Sorry, should've said that's on your red round.

yegodsandlittlefishes · 20/02/2014 10:15

Sorry I can't see it very well on my phone Princess, so I could be wrong, but you may have missed out some stitches (ie a chain stitch?) In the top left corner and stitches in the bottom left corner seem to be not done yet, possibly. (Or your square might be curled up at the edge. (Very hard to see as sun is shining on phone screen.) That sounds bad but if I am right (don't throw it out, undo and reuse the yarn) it is easy to put right and your treble stitch is admirable. :)

Also, is that yarn one of the dk merino yarns used for the woolly hugs, as it looks thinner. The ones I've used from the woolly hugs recommended list have all been a little bit more chubby than the yarn I think I can see there. The dk mwrino wools are easier to use and great for fiddly squares or learning new stitches.

Hopefully someone will be along soon who can actually see and be more help!

What I can say for certain is, it is better than my first few attempts.

PrincessChick · 20/02/2014 10:15

Thanks knotty. I'll start again and concentrate more next time x

yegodsandlittlefishes · 20/02/2014 10:16

Two squares finished and not enough wool for a third. Are there any little motifs I can make for embellishments or should I send the spare wool back with the squares?

Hello there Somer - how about some stars or snowflakes if you have a chance?

Thanks
Spacefrog35 · 22/02/2014 12:26

Brilliant. So glad they've arrived safely. It's been an honor to be involved.

Thank you so much for organising us all Thanks

yegodsandlittlefishes · 22/02/2014 18:54

Let's see if this works (I tried to put them on my profile but it wouldn't take.)
'star' (adapted from a flower pattern) 'snowflake & snowballs' (adapted from a blueberries in snow pattern, but a bit fiddly) and a red/white/blue bobble.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 22/02/2014 21:59

Oh no, many hugs to Critter and CritterDH, am so sorry. I'd like to send some small squares with sympathy to add to the whole. Will PM you, Pistey.

KnottyLocks · 22/02/2014 22:50

Beautiful woolly treasure arriving already. Huge thanks to all for your efforts Thanks

Sorry not been around much - half term chaos here.

Somersaults · 23/02/2014 09:01

Snowflakes and stars, I'm on it. Do you want me to sew the ends of the motifs in or leave them dangling so you can use them to attach them?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/02/2014 10:35

Thanks lovely. X

A long tail on each would be great for attaching with. Thank you so much Thanks
