We have heard the shocking and devastating news that TrinityRhino's DP died suddenly this weekend. Very sadly, many of us will also know that Trinity tragically lost her DH four years ago. Trinity's thread is here
She and her girls are in our thoughts and we send them much love.

We've offered to make them a blanket in the hope it may give whatever comfort it can.

So we are now asking for help once again Thanks

Pistey (RatherBeOnThePiste) will co-ordinate and I'll be here to answer any queries you may have. We need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool).
If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc.

Thank you so much Thanks

The wool we are using

  • James C. Brett Pure Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (being discontinued, but still some around)
  • Rowan Cashsoft DK
  • Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK
  • Artesano Superwash Merino DK
  • Debbie Bliss Rialto DK (new to us)

Just from these please as they are very similar and we know they can be combined for wash and wear. These are all easily available online, try Deramores, Laughing Hens, RKMWools, AWoollyTail, WiseBadger.

The Colours
Warm purples, blues, silvers and cream
If choosing cream please go for either the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK 013 or the James Brett no 7
Green and pink but only for embellishments

Suggestions for motifs
*Fishing, fish and the sea
*Themes from nature, flowers
*A submarine, a gecko
*A teddy bear, a crocodile (for Trin's teddy bear in a crocodile suit)
*We have their initials if you would like to help with this, please PM Pistey.

Thanks

Squares to be six inches, using 4mm needles or hook.

Simple or complex, made by beginner or expert, we genuinely welcome them all. It really is the love and thought that counts.

Previous blankets can be seen on our website We also have a Facebook page MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you like or follow us you'll be updated on progress via your feed. If looking for ideas for a pattern, there are many linked to from our website under Crafting

When ready for posting, please PM Pistey for info.

As always, we thank you so much for your support. Thanks

Knotty and Pistey

Not too late at all. Glad to have you on board Thanks

Hopefully all the info is in Knotty's OP. Do PM if I can help in any way. Thank you.

flipflopper · 22/05/2013 21:27

Do I just buy the wool myself? In any colour?

KnottyLocks · 22/05/2013 21:44

Flipflopper, the colours we are using and types of wool are listed in my OP at the top of this thread. There are also some online suppliers listed who stock the wool.

Feel free to ask more questions if you need to.

TerrysNo2 · 23/05/2013 20:05

anyone know how many crochets it takes to make a 6 inch square? just about to cast on!

Jacksmania · 23/05/2013 22:09

I just posted my squares for Daisy's blanket, and TS's... now eagerly awaiting the woolly treasure the lovely wonderful fabulous Glaikit has posted to me :) :) :)
Am hoping it arrives before next Weds, so I can take it with me, and post it from my mum's in Toronto... 5000 km closer to the UK so should hopefully arrive faster than from here Hmm.

KnottyLocks · 23/05/2013 22:30

TheWoollybacksWife · 23/05/2013 22:36

I've just done a square and made 27 chain to start giving me a foundation row of 25 trebles (3 turning chain and 24 trebles to be completely accurate) Smile

TerrysNo2 · 23/05/2013 22:44

I did 21 fdc's to start but it was only 5 inches as it didn't get any bigger after the chain but I just added a DC row both sides at the end, it looks quite good, a knobbly bobbly people crochet square Grin

TerrysNo2 · 23/05/2013 22:44

people = purple!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/05/2013 22:49
