The continuing story of how Team Woolly Hugs does running. All newcomers very welcome!

Our first fabulous runner, PiggyPlumPie has been there, done that and quite literally has the tshirt (gorgeous btw) and we are looking forward to more runs taking place round the country, and further afield maybe?

We are doing this to support the Billie's Blanket Project being run by the Woolly Hugs community, see here This project was launched as a tribute to beautiful Billie, our lovely MrsDeVere's daughter, who devastatingly died at 14 from leukaemia. We launched this at the time of her 21st birthday. In Billie's name, and through World Child Cancer we will send little blankets to children who are suffering from cancer, and who really need a Woolly Hug and to feel loved and looked after. Our first batch has already gone to Malawi, the next will go to Ghana and Bangladesh.

We are helping raise funds so that alongside Billie's Blankets, we can send a donation to World Child Cancer. Money is so scarce, they really have so little. There will be other fundraising events this year, but we are RUNNING!

These are where the 5K runs will takeplace, they are all over. But even if you run round the block and someone sponsors you to do so, it all counts!

Our Just Giving Page is here. Donations are welcome at any time, huge thanks for those already in. At this moment we are up to £1,116.33, where will be be when this thread is full?!

Enter established events soon to avoid disappointment. Let us know when you are running so we can cheer you on, and please use this thread for support, and general running things, the support here is awesome and we love Piggy's idea of tying a woolly bracelet on to run, then we are all with you as you go. Smile

MNWoollyHugs on Facebook - come and find us, you can still remain anonymous Smile

For novices....Woolly Hugs Guide to Running

  • Put down your woolly wool, crochet hooks and needles.

  • Find your trainers, these are sort of soft bouncy shoe-things that go on your feet.

  • Find something loose and comfortable to wear, and no we don't mean a caftan.

  • Open front door and go outside.

  • Put one foot in front of the other with speed and determination!

YOU are RUNNING!

The children that WCC support need all the love and comfort possible. So please, in memory of a sparkling young girl who always thought of others, we'd love you to help us help them.

As ever, thank you so much for your support.

Thinking of Billie and her family Xx

Tantrums that's a fantastic time!

BIWI - ouch! Sounds like you need to see someone.

Waves to Team Woolly and grabs Energysportsdrink from pistey. DH had his knee op yesterday morning. The op itself went OK but he had a horrible reaction to the anaesthetic/pain killers and was really poorly with them. Couldn't even keep water down, and therefore couldn't pass any (the nurses seemed more worried about his inability to pee than the sickness). I was with him until they kicked me out at 10.30 last night and am about to go back.

Mouseface · 15/05/2013 16:42

Hey lovelies

I have contacted WCC and they are sending me a pack out, I'm working on my FB post and making sure I get the links right. I get to wear a bright orange T-shirt but deffo want Woolly Hugs splattered all over the place! That and a pic of my Mouse, I'm having a think....

This is what I'm going to post on FB, is it okay?

" I am going to do my sponsored hobble/shuffle on FRIDAY JUNE 21st. It's 2.9 miles (door to door) and I'll be doing it in aid of WORLD CHILD CANCER and the most fabulous WOOLLY HUGS

PLEASE HELP AND MAKE A DONATION. Read the link below and you'll see what a real difference these organisations make. I don't normally do things like this, and as most of you know, I'm disabled so this is going to be a real achievement for me, and yes, I know it's going to hurt like hell afterwards!

But these are children and families of children touched by cancer and loss. Even £1.00 helps. Just One Pound.

If you do kindly give via the JustGiving page linked, can you please add a message to 'Mouseface' letting me know who you are and how much you've donated so that I can thank you from the bottom of my heart and also, keep a separate total.

Thank you dear friends, so very much xxxxx "

Anything need changing? :) xx

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/05/2013 16:47

Link to Twitter too won't you?

OP posts:
Mouseface · 15/05/2013 17:27

Sure will gorgeous, sure will. Gonna do it all once Nemo is in bed, I'm just helping Trinity out with something that needs doing now, so need him distracted, Disney Cars 2 on DVD!! Grin

But nope, I won't forget Twitter, I promise :) xxx

Mouseface · 15/05/2013 17:33

Can I link my FB page with the full message on, to my twitter page so that they can read it all? Does that make sense? If I C&P mu FB URL onto my Twitter page, technically, my 69 Blush followers should see it, right?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/05/2013 18:15

Well I Have done that on Woolly Hugs twitter. I think. Blush

Mouseface · 15/05/2013 19:05

Coolio, two technophobes should be able to spread the word? Grin xx

BIWI · 16/05/2013 09:02

Mousey - what's your Twitter name? I'll follow/retweet you.

Off to see the osteopath today. She treats shin splints so will be able to tell me a) if I have them b) what to do about them. The good news is that she thinks the (rather spectacular) bruising I have on my left shin is unlikely to be related to shin splints, and is probably coincidental. (Although I'd like to think I'd remember what I did that resulted in this bruise!) don't say anything about gin consumption

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/05/2013 09:58

Ooo then she'll have 70 Grin

I think I follow you Mousey as me, but I never seem to get on Twitter anymore. And I use too many words in life to be able to get on with it. Lovely MrsKwazii says that's all part of the fun, and that you get the hang of it, but I haven't yet.

BIWI - hoping today is helpful for your poor shins X

Mouseface · 16/05/2013 11:40

BIWI - I think you already are? It's MousefaceVB thank you xx

Well after only a day, I've got £44.75 in sponsor money and that's without tapping my friends, family and DH's business! Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/05/2013 11:42

A bit nearer the time Mousey, you OK with us sharing your stuff from the Woolly Hugs FB page?

OP posts:
Mouseface · 16/05/2013 11:53

Of course, absolutely whenever you feel is right :)

I am so honoured and proud to be a part of this, I've never done anything like this before, before I became disabled, I'd always say, "I'll do the next fun run, sponsored this, that and the other." Blush

But I never did. So now, I am Paying It Forward :) xx

BIWI · 16/05/2013 12:24

Ah yes - I am. But I'll follow you in my other name and re-tweet you from both [beams]

BIWI · 16/05/2013 12:26

... actually that's not your Twitter name!

Mouseface · 16/05/2013 12:45

Nope, you're right, it's @Mouseface75 dozy mare that I am! I knew you were following me, as YOU and as the MN you I do believe?
