The continuing story of how Team Woolly Hugs does running. All newcomers very welcome!

Our first fabulous runner, PiggyPlumPie has been there, done that and quite literally has the tshirt (gorgeous btw) and we are looking forward to more runs taking place round the country, and further afield maybe?

We are doing this to support the Billie's Blanket Project being run by the Woolly Hugs community, see here This project was launched as a tribute to beautiful Billie, our lovely MrsDeVere's daughter, who devastatingly died at 14 from leukaemia. We launched this at the time of her 21st birthday. In Billie's name, and through World Child Cancer we will send little blankets to children who are suffering from cancer, and who really need a Woolly Hug and to feel loved and looked after. Our first batch has already gone to Malawi, the next will go to Ghana and Bangladesh.

We are helping raise funds so that alongside Billie's Blankets, we can send a donation to World Child Cancer. Money is so scarce, they really have so little. There will be other fundraising events this year, but we are RUNNING!

These are where the 5K runs will takeplace, they are all over. But even if you run round the block and someone sponsors you to do so, it all counts!

Our Just Giving Page is here. Donations are welcome at any time, huge thanks for those already in. At this moment we are up to £1,116.33, where will be be when this thread is full?!

Enter established events soon to avoid disappointment. Let us know when you are running so we can cheer you on, and please use this thread for support, and general running things, the support here is awesome and we love Piggy's idea of tying a woolly bracelet on to run, then we are all with you as you go. Smile

MNWoollyHugs on Facebook - come and find us, you can still remain anonymous Smile

For novices....Woolly Hugs Guide to Running

  • Put down your woolly wool, crochet hooks and needles.

  • Find your trainers, these are sort of soft bouncy shoe-things that go on your feet.

  • Find something loose and comfortable to wear, and no we don't mean a caftan.

  • Open front door and go outside.

  • Put one foot in front of the other with speed and determination!

YOU are RUNNING!

The children that WCC support need all the love and comfort possible. So please, in memory of a sparkling young girl who always thought of others, we'd love you to help us help them.

As ever, thank you so much for your support.

Thinking of Billie and her family Xx

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

Okay..... so, DH reckons the 'circuit' is 2.5 miles which takes him and hour to walk it with the dog. It's all flat apart from a bit of a hilly bit in the road but I am not going to estimate a time, I'm just going to say "Please sponsor me to complete this circuit in aid of..............." and tell people who don;t know me why it's going to take me much longer.

Does it have to be in May?

If so, I'm looking at Friday 31st of May, in the morning when Nemo is at preschool. That gives me 3.5 clear hours to 'walk' it. Otherwise, I'd like another couple of weeks to drum up more support as such, so then would be looking at Friday 14th of June, again, giving me 3.5 clear hours.

Now all I need to do is set everything up once someone has said which date is better please Grin

It doesn't have to be May my lovely Mouse friend. BIWI, Frankie and I are doing our thing in October. Tis a year long fundraise, so any time is good, really the best time for you is the best time for us.

You are a star! Xx

Mouseface · 07/05/2013 13:59

Okay, I'll look at a later date and also it's 2.9 miles, DH has just re-checked the distance so the longer I have, the better :)

Will sort a definite date this week and then get my arse into gear, thanks Pistey xx

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/05/2013 22:28

Thank you Blush

The laminated plan worked, I can run. And, I have discovered, I actually quite like it.

I think by October, I might even have a hope of keeping up with ds1 Grin

BIWI · 09/05/2013 00:19

27.48? That's just showing off. No need for it.

5madthings · 09/05/2013 07:19

TantrumsAndBalloons · 09/05/2013 07:20

It's good isn't it 5mad?

I never thought I'd be jumping out of bed at 6am to run, but I feel so much better when I do.

OP posts:
TantrumsAndBalloons · 09/05/2013 17:49

There will be no racing Grin

I just want to know I did it. Without falling over, or making a idiot of myself.

Ds1 is going for a world record time or some nonsense.

Mouseface · 09/05/2013 18:00

Tantrums - I am Envy Envy Envy of you!! As for your DS? I'm ignoring that epic time Grin

I love MN.

Well done 5mad too! You two are fab, I love early mornings for good reasons, mine tend to be because Nemo needs me and they can start from 12am! Fancy a run then? Wink

I have to say that I miss jogging/running and getting up sans DC go out and just, well, be :)

Just so you know Pistey and Knotty and others who know my conditions and are like "Shit Mouse you absolute head case, are you bat shit bonkers? You shouldn't be doing this at all....." Grin

I'm off to the see my lovely GP on 17th May and I'm going to tell him what I am planning to do. I've been walking up and down the swimming pool with a float so that I can build a bit of strength up ready for the big day which is going to be ..................

Friday June 21st

So there you have it, my official date. Can You guys help me with links etc, I'm going to do it as Mouseface and don't want my RL name on here or the JG page, can that happen if I link your JG page to here/my FB page?

Grin

Also, I have people who will need the paper copy, most of my and DH's parents! Grin So will let you know when that arrive 5mad :)

Well done all of you, I'm cheering you all on, no matter how long you run or walk for, you're all fab!! xxx

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/05/2013 09:12

You are a star Mousey X

I'm going to put JG on my FB page for you to get the link and share but it is here

I need to update the JG page, and will only write you on it as Mouseface

am I helping at all? Grin

OP posts:
Mouseface · 10/05/2013 14:21

Erm, yes, you are helping. Hmm Grin

So, I just C&P the JG page URL at the top of the page and put it onto my FB page?

How do people donate to me, how do I know who has donated to me? Does that make any sense at all? I'm crap at these things!! Grin
