The continuing story of how Team Woolly Hugs does running. All newcomers very welcome!

Our first fabulous runner, PiggyPlumPie has been there, done that and quite literally has the tshirt (gorgeous btw) and we are looking forward to more runs taking place round the country, and further afield maybe?

We are doing this to support the Billie's Blanket Project being run by the Woolly Hugs community, see here This project was launched as a tribute to beautiful Billie, our lovely MrsDeVere's daughter, who devastatingly died at 14 from leukaemia. We launched this at the time of her 21st birthday. In Billie's name, and through World Child Cancer we will send little blankets to children who are suffering from cancer, and who really need a Woolly Hug and to feel loved and looked after. Our first batch has already gone to Malawi, the next will go to Ghana and Bangladesh.

We are helping raise funds so that alongside Billie's Blankets, we can send a donation to World Child Cancer. Money is so scarce, they really have so little. There will be other fundraising events this year, but we are RUNNING!

These are where the 5K runs will takeplace, they are all over. But even if you run round the block and someone sponsors you to do so, it all counts!

Our Just Giving Page is here. Donations are welcome at any time, huge thanks for those already in. At this moment we are up to £1,116.33, where will be be when this thread is full?!

Enter established events soon to avoid disappointment. Let us know when you are running so we can cheer you on, and please use this thread for support, and general running things, the support here is awesome and we love Piggy's idea of tying a woolly bracelet on to run, then we are all with you as you go. Smile

For novices....Woolly Hugs Guide to Running

  • Put down your woolly wool, crochet hooks and needles.

  • Find your trainers, these are sort of soft bouncy shoe-things that go on your feet.

  • Find something loose and comfortable to wear, and no we don't mean a caftan.

  • Open front door and go outside.

  • Put one foot in front of the other with speed and determination!

YOU are RUNNING!

The children that WCC support need all the love and comfort possible. So please, in memory of a sparkling young girl who always thought of others, we'd love you to help us help them.

As ever, thank you so much for your support.

Thinking of Billie and her family Xx

That's the one where you start in Richmond Park, walk to very near me and back again. I think. You could always come and have Pimms/tea here before walking back Grin

Pistey I know - DH has posted on my FB that the company will give/match £250 if I can raise the same. I need £105 to get to that! I am going to start standing on the street begging! I've got to get that money for us!!!!! :)

BIWI · 11/06/2013 14:52

Mousey - that link on your FB page doesn't take me to the right story/post!

How do I donate to you specifically, rather than the Woolly Hugs Just Giving page?

Mouseface · 11/06/2013 18:28

I'm sharing the Woolly Hugs page with them, so if you put a message to me at the end of the donation process, with my mousey name in, like others have on the page, I'll know you've donated to MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Grin

Or you can send me a cheque? I have a paper form too. :)

Thank you lovely BIWI

Grin

Thanks for the reminder, young whippersnapper

BIWI · 13/06/2013 12:02

Week 2/Run 1 ripped and sorted Grin

I managed to pause the Get Running app at 3 minutes by mistake, during the warm up at the beginning. So instead of carrying on warming up for an extra 2 minutes, I put in an extra run. So 7 runs today, rather than the scheduled 6.

It was quite nice running today - thankfully the rain held off - although I did have to wear my jacket as it wasn't as warm as it could have been.

And lovely baby ducks beginning to arrive! (Pics on Facebook)

Mouseface · 13/06/2013 16:52

Awww to baby ducks! We have them at the castle and the baby swans too! :)

Glad you managed your runs xxx

Mouseface · 13/06/2013 21:39

Another £10.00 gift aided too, taking my total up to £297.50, so far, with an extra £250 to come.... get in!! Grin

Am I allowed to say that? KEEP THE DONATIONS COMING IN PLEASE!!!!!

I'm so excited but have been poorly yesterday and today a bit, it appears to be every 10 - 14 days so fingers crossed it shall keep at bay for next Friday!!

Send healing vibes to my tummy please Woolly's :) xxx

Mouseface · 13/06/2013 21:40

Sponsorship - sorry! Not Donations! Blush

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/06/2013 22:04

Mouseface · 15/06/2013 12:54

Sponsorship is at £553.75 today which includes DH's Company sponsorship - my parents are yet to be forced to sponsor me added, as are a few others who will be getting an email this week with a 'gentle nudge' shall we say!!! Grin

I AM SO EXCITED!!

It's fabulous that we've gotten over the £2k mark, I am really going to ramp it up in the next few days until my hobble on Friday so please forgive my Facebook posts!

Oh, and Pistey - my Woolly Hug wheelchair banner and bracelet have arrived, and they are absolutely gorgeous.

Nemo said, 'aww, Mamam, dats o ice ov Feasteeee' Grin He can't say some of his letters, so it could have been a lot worse! Grin

All joking aside, I really do think that this is the most amazing thing that we're doing. I love you guys for letting me help! Thank you.

All pain meds have been ordered so that I will not be without. Super organised, all I need is for my tummy to behave, and the weather to not be torrential rain or it will be a sponsored swim!

Mouseface · 15/06/2013 13:18

OH MY GOD

My mother has just text to say she's giving £50.00 this weekend!!!!

BIWI · 15/06/2013 13:43

... and I've got £190 on my page to contribute as well! Will ramp up the pushing nearer the October date.
