Support thread for Woolly Hugs - summer (sort of) 2013

Our sympathies and thoughts are with daisydotandgertie, who lost her husband this month.

Woolly Hugs is now in action and this is the support and chat thread at which all are welcome - knitters, crocheters and donors. If you are a first time crafter please do have a go. There is bags of support and plain squares are just as important to our endeavour as fancy ones.

As flowers was one of the requested motifs, I'll just note there's a flowers section in the crafting guide. I might try the posies pattern on this sock pattern. For Welsh (or at least Celtic) patterns, I did this for a previous blanket.

Morning

Keeping Survival, her boys, their families and friends close in my thoughts today, it's her wonderful husband's funeral, sending much love, bless them all X

May I ask a possibly strange question please?

Do you accept squares knitted on the diagonal or do they need to be straight? I ask that for all of the projects where you can send squares instead of the whole thing. Sorry of that's been covered already. Blush

My thoughts are with Daisy and Survival and their families.

GoodJam, we do indeed. As long as they are 6", all is good Smile

Thanks Knotty. I prefer to do squares on the diagonal. I don't think I'll be able to do one in time for this project, so have donated wool instead. Hopefully the lovely crafter will recieve it soon. Smile

Well done to all those who have been able to contribute. People pulling together when they're needed. This is why I love Mumsnet.

Thanks

Forget-me-nots have been requested for Survival's blanket - a few suggestions here.

I've just finished the Saxifrage square here.

I have a question about intarsia in the round. I'm getting big holey gaps. I can go back and put a little stitch in the gaps once finished, but I want to know what I'm doing wrong. Anyone want to hazard a guess??

Report
tribpot · 10/05/2013 22:56

Are you going back and forth despite working in the round, Glaikit?

has a good tip to avoid the gapey hole when you turn and go back around.

No just going the same way as that is how the pattern is written. I'll just stitch the gaps, maybe!
