I have to admit that it has taken me while to write this. Sometimes it feels that despite all the words at our fingertips, there are never the right ones.

This morning we learnt of the heartbreaking news that Cupofteaplease's beautiful daughter, Beatrice, had been taken from us: another bright star to light the skies above us.

If you have followed Cup's threads, you could not have failed to be touched by Bea's magic and be inspired by her mother and her family (affectionately known as The Teaset ) who ensured that for Bea, 'A life filled with love is a life worth living.'
Their dedication to Bea, their bravery and love reached many hearts and touched many lives. Bea will live long in our hearts and memories.

Our thoughts and love are with them all and we hope that this blanket may give whatever comfort it can to them.

We would be very grateful for your help. Here's how:

We need knitters, crocheters and donors.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
Whatever way youd like to be involved, please PM Pistey: it really helps us to know how many people are involved. Thanks

The wool we are using:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK (NOT the baby cashmerino)

  • Rowan Cashsoft DK.

*Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK.

*Artesano Superwash Merino DK.

They are very similar and can be combined.

  • 4mm knitting needles or hooks

  • knitters cast on 33 stitches (this is a guide for less experienced knitters)

  • 6" squares

The Colours:

Pinks, blues, greens, warm purples, silvers and cream (we'd be grateful if you use Debbie Bliss 013, if opting for cream)

If you wish to make flowers and bees and would like to use yellow, please PM Pistey as we have some in our stash and we would like to use the same colour throughout. Thanks

Ideas for squares:

Motifs:
Bees, primroses, violets, daisies and any other flowers.

Please don't feel daunted by any of the ideas as we really love plain squares and simple textures too. They look as stunning as the more complex squares and actually play a vital role in the overall effect.

Previous blankets can be seen here on the Woolly Hugs website . We also have a Facebook page: MNWoollyHugs and are on Twitter @MNWoollyHugs. If you 'like' our Facebook page, you'll be updated on progress via your News Feed.

As always, we thank you so much for your support.

Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Nope, not found it! I think it must have run away with my little scissors as I can't find those either! I hope they live happily ever after and have little scissor/needle babies :)

I am sleep deprived , so no knitting for me tonight. I'm off to bed.

PacificDogwood · 07/11/2012 21:44

Hi, all, I am just having my dinner after providing telephone counselling to my poor brother who finds himself between a mother (stone) and a MIL (a hard place) Grin - poor guy!

Anyway, I did not make it to the post office tdoay. I am not sure what I was thinking - Wednesdays are usually a bit very busy; so tomorrow it is, honest, guv Blush. Parcel was all lovingly packed yesterday, so ready to go onmthe nursery run tomorrow. I love working P/T.

Macarooned · 07/11/2012 22:13

Evening all,
inspired to attempt a more complicated square by the Butterfly Garden link...I have completely a crinkely square tonight, but I have a question....

It is a smudge over 6" and the last round is the bottom of the second row of butterflies, so is this ok for joining or would it be better to frog back to 1st round of butterflies and finish it off with solid rounds???

bobkate · 07/11/2012 23:16

I've been so bad at checking in - has there been a deadline yet? hopes to goodness I've not missed it note to self - I must work out how to check MN and knit at the same time...that's virtually impossible though surely!

KnottyLocks · 08/11/2012 07:44

Morning all Smile

No deadline yet. Pistey and I will have that sorted by tomorrow.

It was an honour to be involved.

PacificDogwood · 08/11/2012 20:58

Evening, all, I managed a trip to the post office today with DS4 in tow who proceded to shoplift Shock - why on earth does a post office have Fredo Frogs on display at all, never mind at toddler height?? Due to his young age and ineffectual mother, the post mistress was lenient and he did not receive a custodial sentence. I may never be able to use the local post office ever again...

4 squares sent; I packed them marked for cup and expat (thanks for allowing me to jump on board so late there) with respective cards, but am happy for you to change them around or use otherwise as required.
Knotty and Pistey, you are stars for organising us all ThanksSmile.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 08/11/2012 22:27

Aww well done everyone, sounds great .

LadyWellian · 09/11/2012 01:13

Pistey are squares going to you for this one? I can post tomorrow if so.

I've done one specially for this and another I didn't get round to sending in the summer that can go in a mini hug - are those to you too, or to Knots or elsewhere?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 09/11/2012 06:48

Morning all Brew

Thank you everyone, yes please Welli, just coming to you now Thanks

Morning! Finished a flame square last night to mount my candle on. Next is a plain green (probably) for my butterfly and flowers. I already have a large pansy on a square of it's own.
Unlikely to get much done this weekend as it's DS's 9th birthday tomorrow.

KnottyLocks · 09/11/2012 08:13

Sounds lovely, Droitwich Smile

Happy Birthday to your DD Smile
