Following on from the terrible news of the loss of Mumof2TeenBoys' ds, a new Woolly Hugs project has been started and, as ever, MNers have stepped up to offer whatever little comfort we can to Mumof and her family. We also keep close in our thoughts Aillidh, the dd of expatinscotland, who died yesterday.

We've put together some general info mostly about knitting but with some crochet bits thrown in, which should get you started but please feel free to ask for any help - I'm not sure if the crocheters are going to set up a new support thread but their current one is found here.

Please dive in - we will inevitably end up talking bollocks rubbish at some point but all are welcome aboard.

Morning ladies. Met the wonderful Pistey yesterday to drop off my squares and now packing for camping. Joyous weather predictions for northern France of course (ahem) :)

KnottyLocks · 16/07/2012 07:22

Morning all Smile

Flubba, I can only assume Pistey was on her bestest behaviour Wink

Enjoy your camping trip Smile

She was indeed knotty :)

RedRosie · 16/07/2012 08:28

Oh yes Pitsey. Although I always call you my special name.

JoyfulPuddleJumper is lovely though - one cannot help but smile, and see a diminutive person in bright red wellington boots leaping gleefully into a massive puddle. What's not to like?

Stripy double-moss stitch square on profile ...

Morning! Sun is shining at holiday cottage Glaikit! Ds is roaming free terrorising the chickens!

I had a knitting lesson from my mum yesterday when they came to visit, and I think I may have mastered the finger weaving of the wool thing. Mum also knitted a square, so that will be sent off with mine later.

I'm working on my second magic square ooooohhh for aillidh's blanket.

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 16/07/2012 09:52

Morning Brew - Tis raining here, as always. I am however excited about the squares I have planned for Expat and giraffe's blankies. I hope they come out as well as I want them too...

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 16/07/2012 09:57

of and regarding Puddles name -there are those than messed it up after a few glasses of Wine and for whom she is now the joyful puddle dancer, which presumably makes me jumps with wool et wellies?

Jules146 · 16/07/2012 14:08

My squares so far, with all of the lovely 'recycled' wool I received :)

HairyPotter · 16/07/2012 14:14

Jules those squares are fabulous! I'm very Envy

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/07/2012 14:18

I love it Jules! We send you odds and ends of woolly wool and you work your magic, tis smashing, I just love seeing what you come up with! Smile Thanks

Jules146 · 16/07/2012 14:49

Thank you :) It's funny I almost like the odds and ends more as I feel it's bringing different parts together to make something bigger, exactly like our blankets :)

DancesWithWoolsEnPointe · 16/07/2012 16:38

Jules Those are amazing! I'm also Envy and think I may need to take up hooking as the croquet squares seem far flasher than knitted or is that just my knitted squares

flubba · 16/07/2012 17:06

Wow jules those are beautiful!

I am very glad, and hanging on to the words of others, that plain squares are also good as mine are exactly that! Blush

MinnieBar · 16/07/2012 17:58

Lovely - especially the warm purples Wink.

PurplePidjin · 16/07/2012 19:03

Flowers need leaves so they can be noticed, so fancy squares need plain ones Thanks

soremummy · 16/07/2012 19:11

After my feeble attempt at crochet today I'm gonna be sticking with 2 needles it was going good till I had no longer got crafty sitting at my side helping me.

Pic now on profile

Rosie, plain squares are to blankets as leaves are to beautiful flowering plants Thanks

Jules146 · 16/07/2012 20:50

Pidj that is gorgeous! Beautiful :) and I love what you said about leaves and flowers, so true and never thought of it that way before!! Brilliant

PurplePidjin · 16/07/2012 20:56

A little more poetic than the usual mantra, i have been Channelling the Spirit of Rosie

chipmonkey · 16/07/2012 22:00

Haved uploaded my Hello Kitty square to my pictures. It is very puckered in the middle and I'm tempted to take an iron to it but I know that's Not Allowed.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/07/2012 22:05

Ironing?

Tis gorgeous lovely Chip. Thanks
