Oh no! The previous thread has become full and suddenly we need a new one, with no way of linking old to new. I hope people will find this one. :)

This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome.

Ophelia, you're on - I've put you above the line where 'here be dragons' as otherwise it's only DAISY and me representing the North of England, with Formerly technically on the right latitude but in another country Grin If you live just south of the line, I'm moving the line down!

I'm surprised to hear Chester is short on wool shops, I would have thought it'd have a few naice places.

I'm off today to my 'knitting with colour' workshop so I am insanely excited to learn how I've been doing it wrong all this time.

Second square finished - little stars from Ravelry. Will put picture on profile in a bit.
Have decided to finish off my big star. Knotty, you can do whatever you feel like with it. It might be good to attach where 4 squares join, or applique it to a plain square. Again, pic later

RedRosie · 19/06/2012 19:54

I didn't see a single dragon. :(

Are they shy? Is it not dragon season?

Is there a hotline where I can complain?

On the other hand although I was mostly in a windowless room, it was sunny in The North.

:)

It's haggis season here Rosie! We are over run with the little buggers! Will I send some down to you?

PurplePidjin · 19/06/2012 20:43

They heard about Prince Harry and his shooting, so they're all hiding!

Ooh, pet haggis would be cool. They sell haggis in my local butchers but dp is so anti offal (religion) i daren't buy one in case he refuses to eat it :o

Glaikit · 19/06/2012 20:49

Anti offal?? That's awful! Boom boom! We can get little mini ones here ideal for a dinner for one!

The veggie ones are quite tasty too.

nickelbarapasaurus · 19/06/2012 21:12

I'm supposed to be watching the football.
I was really looking forward to it.
I came upstairs at half time to get a drink, and thought "I'll jsut heck my wholesaler for ...." and I appear to have been carried away. Blush

I know it's nothing to do with blankets, but the word game has disappeared, you know. I have nowhere to put my random musings....

nickelbarapasaurus · 19/06/2012 21:12

just
check

Molehillmountain · 19/06/2012 21:16

I know what you mean about hobbycraft, it is a pain especially if it's the only place, but if they started stocking it it would be a shame for the local yarn shops and online sellers.

Bloody thing has grown to 7" wide so I'm going to frog it anyway.

But I have learnt how to do bobbles! Although they do look a bit like small slightly saggy boobs Here

BarbaraWoodlouse · 19/06/2012 23:14

Nice boobies bobbles Minnie Grin

prettybird · 19/06/2012 23:25

Minniebar - my "knit three times into a stitch" booble square started off closer to 7" wide but at the other end was 6" wide, as I kept losing stitches BlushBlush

I've just started learning how to do doing a check slip-stitch pattern square, with my new blue wool, forest green and the pale pink beige/cream.

What I like about doing these squares is that they give you the chance to practice new techniques Smile

RedRosie · 20/06/2012 04:36

LOOK AT THE TIME!!

Oooh Glaikit.

A little haggis all of my own?

:) :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/06/2012 06:38

Rosie - you are up very early today! Or very late to bed. One or the other Confused

Morning all Brew

MinnieBar · 20/06/2012 07:06

I did bookmark a pattern with loads of slip stitches in, but it looked rather complicated. But now I can do boobles, maybe I'll give it another look - DS has karate this afternoon, so a good opportunity to get some done, hopefully?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 20/06/2012 07:11

The bobbles are luffly Minnie Smile

MinnieBar · 20/06/2012 07:30

Aww thanks Pistey (btw - in my head I say it 'Pissed-ee' (no offence) - is that correct, or do you favour 'Pee-stee'??!)

Original pattern was 45 stitches and I corrected it down to 40. If I just chop off another 5, I think, I think, I'll be there.

Go Team Boobles! No? Wink

prettybird · 20/06/2012 08:55

I noticed my booble typo after I posted but thought it was strangely appropriate! Wink

I've just measured the width of my check slip-stitch square: even though it's 34 stitches, it's going to be a very small 6" square BlushBlush

It does stretch a bit though! Grin

MinnieBar · 20/06/2012 09:07

I am nearly always over on size, even going down a needle size or two, but last week I did a daisy-stitch square and it came up a bit small too. It does stretch to 6" in each direction - but unfortunately not at the same time. Don't worry - Knotty or Pidj can whack a border around - they live the extra work, honestly!

MinnieBar · 20/06/2012 09:08

live = love, obvs. Although I'm sure they live for it too? Wink

KnottyLocks · 20/06/2012 09:32

Oh yes, we love the extra work Grin
Confused

KnottyLocks · 20/06/2012 09:33

Honestly though, if they stretch to 6" that's great. If they don't , we have ways of making them fit Smile

prettybird · 20/06/2012 09:36

It does stretch to 6" wide, and I'll make sure it's long enough. Smile

BarbaraWoodlouse · 20/06/2012 10:35

That sounds slightly sinister Knotty Grin.
