We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Hi Soupy, long time no see! (waves)

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2012 16:58

www.facebook.com/Crochetmania has lots of brilliant left and right handed videos :)

Dingle · 24/02/2012 17:08

Thank you...I will not be making promises for crocheted squares just yet though!

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 17:21

Hi Dingle, not the same thing but in a previous career I did arts and crafts with adults with Down Syndrome. They realty enjoyed silk painting and we even made cloth hats which they loved. Perhaps she could try cross-stitch or simple hand sewing? One of the ladies was amazing at tapestry.

A technical question, does anyone know how many rows I do when I am knitting this six inch square? I did know, but cannot for the life of me remember... Stripes you see, and I need to do the maths...

Knotty can you get my Jack Wills square out and count for me?!

Grin Maybe not that option, but does anyone know?!

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2012 17:53

Wasn't it 45???

If I did 2 equal stripes how many rows in a stripe?
But if I did three, what would it be then?

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 24/02/2012 18:07

Someone mentioned sewing in the threads to make it easier and to avoid getting poked in the eye by the sewer upper anyone have a video link to the preferred method if there is one?

Honestly, volumes of cava will make not the blindest bit of difference when it comes to my maths skills Grin

Chipping, I am the blanket builder. I hook them together rather than sew them. Double crochet ridge.

Just seen this thread. I would like to knit a couple of squares.

( I have wool, Debbie Bliss, in silver and soft purple.)

muddymooncups · 24/02/2012 18:26

Count me in.

I would love to be a donor. I can send wool in the post!

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 18:34

ChippingIn, sorry I completely misread your question Blush. Must stop
Multitasking. There's no prefered method re sewing in pesky ends, as long as they are sewn in and secure. A large farming needle should do the job.
