We have heard the very sad news that our own lovely WubblyBubbly passed away very peacefully this week, after two years living with breast cancer. MrWubbly let us know on this thread, where many have expressed their condolences and shared their memories of Wubbly.

We have offered to make a blanket for MrWubbly and their son, Lawrie. MrWubbly has said that both he and Lawrie would love this and they are very touched by the idea. We hope that it may bring whatever comfort it can to them both.

So, we need knitters, crocheters and donors. If you would like to donate wool, then we can match you up with a crafter.

RatherBeOnThePiste will coordinate and match crafters and donors, and deal with the admin side. I'll try to answer any queries you may have and will put together the blanket.

If you would like to be involved in any way, please post on this thread and PM Pistey with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, etc, and she will match you up.
If you are offering to donate, we would be grateful if you would let us know if you'd like to donate 1 or 2 balls of wool. They cost roughly £5 per ball.

Crafters, if you need wool please let Pistey know if you'd like 1 or 2 balls of wool.
One ball should make at least 2 x 6" squares.

Thank you all so very much Thanks

Grin

I have heard from Lydia ( lydiathetattooedlady ) who is the Mumsnetter who owns the wool shop that people were talking about on the last thread. From our colour palette this time she has some debbie bliss cashmerino dk in blue in stock. She will sell this at £4.50 plus postage. She is very happy to hear from anyone needing wool. Just PM her if you are.

Thanks to her x

WG, any time you like - just let me know :)

The knit and natter appears to be turning into many knit and matters, so anyone who thought they couldn't make it needs to check Wink

I "embroider" my faces on, no need for evil bastard fiddly safety eyes. Pretty sure that if I can manage a Moshi monster I can do a penguin so will have a bash in the next few days.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2012 14:29

Do you see how easily I used the term colour palette there?

Now I REALLY want to see a photo of OpheliaBumps amigurumi nativity scene with the alien Jesus... Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaase Ophelia?

mumatron · 24/02/2012 14:35

soupy that was me. Hope the colours were ok. I let ds pick them.

Knotty I laughed too, especially when DD took him to nursery (she loved him so much she carried him round in her pocket for weeks) and his halo came unravelled so he had these huge eye & one very long strand of gold 'hair' sticking out of his head

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2012 14:40

Mine either, with amigurumi the back doesn't matter because it's hidden thankfully

Pistey I haven't got a photo, and they're all in a box in the garage now with the rest of the Christmas stuff. I really wish I'd taken a photo now, cos apart from Jesus' eyes they looked ok (Mary, Joseph etc were much bigger than Jesus obviously, so their eyes were in proportion).

I did say to DH that I'd order smaller eyes online this year, and make a new Jesus in December, but he wouldn't be half so memorable as the original Grin

Hello Ladies, I've been away and just spotted this thread in active. So sad another blanket is needed, still have a bit of wool left from last time so will get crocheting. Pistey, I'll PM you when I have something to send.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2012 15:04

Hello August Smile Lovely to see you and have you with us, just PM me when you are ready X

Mousey84 · 24/02/2012 15:11

Just found out about this and would like to have a go at a few squares. I can't work out how to pm from my phone but I'll get onto laptop later and do it. thankfully, squares are something I can do...

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2012 15:17

August and Mousey feel free to join in the knit and battering and cake scoffing link is a few posts up Smile

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2012 15:28

Pidj There is to be no battering. What have I told you?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/02/2012 15:37

There will be four daughters contributing to this blanket along with their mums. Tis rather nice I think. The next generation of mumsnetters!

SoupDragon · 24/02/2012 15:52

Thankfully, DD (6) will not be one of the daughters contributing :o

Mumatron, the colours were perfect. I will get hooking shortly. :)

KnottyLocks · 24/02/2012 15:58

That's really nice, Pistey. We had a mum and daughter team, and a Mil and Dil team on a previous blanket. Slovely

If you still need knitters I would be more than happy to help, if possible could someone donate the wool please. I have never helped on a MN blanket before. I don't visit that often and always seem to find out when it's being sewn together.

It would be wonderful to contribute.

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2012 16:33

Blinking autocorrect!

Wtf is there a wiggly red line under the word autocorrect, surely it knows how to spell that Shock

Dingle · 24/02/2012 16:33

Feeling quite saddened by this, not just the need for the blanket but wondering if I will ever be able to contribute with my DD! (DD is 10 with Down Syndrome, I wonder if I will ever be able to teach her...there's a challenge for me! Might be a very holey square....er shape!

PurplePidjin · 24/02/2012 16:38

Dingle, absolutely no reason why not. If she struggles with knitting I'll teach her crochet.

The first four blankets were constructed while I was working in residential care with adults with ld, my chaps found it very relaxing to just sit and chill with me crocheting, sun out, radio on Grin

Dingle · 24/02/2012 16:49

I can't crochet, to make matters worse, I am left hander & knit "weird" with my RH needle tucked into my tummy. Blush

SoupDragon · 24/02/2012 16:54

teach yourself to crochet first then :)

SoupDragon · 24/02/2012 16:55

BTW, Dingle, I thought of you today when I saw a thread form someone looking for a personalised christening card.
