We have heard the dreadfully sad news that Chipmonkey's baby daughter died unexpectedly this week. Condolence thread is here Chipmonkey has said tonight that she would love to receive a MN blanket.

Because Knotty is snowed under a mountain of wool, I am taking on the coordination for this, so if you are a donor or a crafter needing a match - please PM me and I will match you up. I know there is an amazing army of donor, knitter and crochet stars, and I am hoping that you will feel able to help with this blanket too.

So if you feel that you can help, please PM me with your offers: crafting, donating, need wool, don't need wool, and I will sort it all out, and when you are ready to post, PM me for the address.

I will have to get back on the deadline...

But thank you in advance.

The edging is the easiest bit...if you can crochet Grin

For example, last night I undid the two sides of edging I'd done on WTW's blanket then redid them. It's the quickest bit.
Putting the squares together is more time-consuming as often 6" varies quite a bit Grin. The squares also have different tensions and stretch differently so a bit more of a challenge.

To be honest, I wouldn't feel great about half done blankets being sent across the country. It makes me twitchy! We had a near disaster with Edgar's blanket when Parcelforce lost it. It did turn up, but without packaging, in a dusty old warehouse. It could have been lost forever or damaged. There have also been incidents of squares going astray. Don't want to risk it too often.
So far, we have delivered the blankets and the quilt by hand, often using a relay if necessary. It's taken some organisation but we didn't want the stress and upset of a missing blanket on our hands.
Pistey has the delivery sorted for this one. I'm delivering WTW's and will organise Cheese's.

Also, people work differently. Which is great on separate blankets, but more complicated if working on the same one. If people want to work together, I really do think the best way would be to actually get together to do it. Like Pidj and I will do for this blanket. Unless one puts it together then one edges.

Still have the additional transportation issue.

I'm of the 'minimise trips, minimise risk' mindset.

My wool arrived yesterday and it is gorgeous. Off to get knitting. If you see me waffling on any threads tonight - kick my arse and tell me to get back to the wool.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/10/2011 19:47

Get back to your wool!!!

Glad my squares arrived OK!!

Whenisitmysleepytime · 21/10/2011 20:06

Fab! Glad the squares arrived. For once royal mail deliver something quickly!

Bloody knackered here after epic day of teething from dd and over tired silliness from the rest of the family.

Wine all round I think. Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 21/10/2011 20:09

Knotty I do agree completely that it is better to avoid posting blankets or blanket squares around the country where possible, although obviously squares need sending in initially. But it is very risky, and they are too precious to take additional unnecessary risks. The outcome of Edgar's blanket saga could have easily been so very different.

One square has already gone missing on this project, and wool has failed to arrive from donors.Sad

Go me.

And that's just in your own head.

NellVarnishedInAPuffOfSmoke · 21/10/2011 21:16

Oooh well done Pistey. You have more patience than me, I can't be doing with knitting, takes too long.

Wool is indeed purplicious, and so snugglesome. I've done three grannies tonight so far, sans wine as I've got to go and get Mum's Taxi out. Grrr.

skinnymuffin · 21/10/2011 21:45

So glad to hear my squares have arrived :) [Thanks] again to my donor.

I was a bit worried at the Post Office because the man insisted I could leave the parcel on my side of the window, not his, to be collected. I was a bit worried it would get nicked!

Anyway, hope they'll do. I'm no expert but hopefully they will provide a plain backdrop so the lovely fancy ones can stand out more ...

skinnymuffin · 21/10/2011 21:49

Does thanks not work with a capital T??? Chuh!

Thanks to my donor. And while I'm back Thanks Piste too. I'm really annoyed now I didn't think to pop some chocolate in for you, what a brilliant idea! I had some buttons in my bag too. Unfortunately I've since eaten them myself...

KnitterNotTwitter · 22/10/2011 00:10

I'm probably arriving to this far too late to be useful but .... if it's not too late I'd love to do some squares....particularly if there is wool looking for a good home! I contributed to a couple earlier this year but then had some time off MNet so have missed the recent ones.

Alambil · 22/10/2011 00:17

knitter the deadline for squares is next friday, I believe ....

am just glad the first class post actually worked... I can't wait to see what magic happens with the wools I sent!

KnitterNotTwitter · 22/10/2011 00:20

Thanks lewisfan. I think I have some Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK lurking in my wool box so I'll get going on that... I should be able to do 2-3 before middle of next week when they'll need posting...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/10/2011 07:02

Morning Brew Cheers!

I could have had a lie in today, but I've woken up bloomin early Why does that happen?!

Thank you so much KnitterNotTwitter - lovely to have you here.

purplewerepidj · 22/10/2011 10:37

Morning all!

Knitter, I assumed you'd namechanged and were still around Blush hope everything's ok?

Skinny, that's exactly the right theory - 100 very fancy cableknit lah-di-dah squares would look like a right old mess. We need plain ones!!

KnottyLocks · 22/10/2011 13:28

Hello, lovely wooly folk Grin

TimeForCake · 22/10/2011 15:44

Pistey how was your crochet course? Are you now able to produce amazing things at the flick of a hook? Envy

KnottyLocks · 22/10/2011 15:45

She'll be reporting in very soon, no doubt. I'm awaiting a photo at the mo!

TimeForCake · 22/10/2011 16:11

I shall look out for a progress report with attached photographic evidence then! :)

KnottyLocks · 22/10/2011 16:13

She'll be making undergarments next lesson. Such progress! The woman's a genius.
