I think I love David Mitchell. Look at this article he wrote on pole dancing in the Cambridge Union

I knew I was right to like him

WingedVictory · 18/04/2010 22:40

He wrote another scathing and beautifully moral article which I have bookmarked: Spare me that rubbish about your "rights".

Will read the pole dancing article now. Thanks, HerBeatitude!

AnyFucker · 18/04/2010 22:40

yep, he has it

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2010 22:41

I'm quite desperately in love with him.

gomez · 18/04/2010 22:41

Genius.

Just wish he was a bit sexier...

AnyFucker · 18/04/2010 22:43

gomez..ya see, if he was sexier, it just wouldn't work would it ?

he is a geek, like your best male mate

you wouldn't shag him...but you love him

yes ?

Spidermama · 18/04/2010 22:44

Excellent David. Good for him. It's extremely refreshing to hear a well known man say, 'Lapdancing is grim'.

I totally agree about the politicians wives and Sarah's toe.

gomez · 18/04/2010 22:44

Aye okay I'll give you that one.

But I certainly wouldn't give him one

he's a smug git though

edam · 18/04/2010 22:48

David Mitchell is lovely. And right.

ShowOfHands · 18/04/2010 22:49

dittany, you can hear him can't you? Raging nicely.

I'm afraid I find him v attractive. Tried to convince another MNer of this when she stayed for a few days this week. She accused him of looking like he has thyroid issues. We agreed to disagree.

AnyFucker · 18/04/2010 22:56

lol @ thyroid issues

skidoodly · 18/04/2010 23:27

this quote is from the wheelie bin article, but works well for the "PC gone mad" thing:

"Our evolution into apex individualists has superbly attuned us to injustices against us while atrophying our awareness of the vastly greater number that work in our favour."

AnyFucker · 18/04/2010 23:34

I don't get that last quote < thicko >

blackcurrants · 19/04/2010 01:22

Oh I love this! I love it!
DH read it and said "He's wonderful! He's right!"
We're sitting here and swooning together over his wondrousness

SethStarkaddersMum · 19/04/2010 09:54

he writes so well he makes me squirm with delight.
and the content!

LadyBlaBlah · 19/04/2010 10:03

What a lovely and fantastic article

I especially liked his line "So far, so undergraduate."

LOL

Effjay · 19/04/2010 10:06

I agree, great writing. But, folks, this thing about him being sexy or not. Isn't it a bit ironic - are we not reducing ourselves to the level of those who write about Sarah Brown's feet? It's not really relevant, is it?

policywonk · 19/04/2010 10:06

Agree with spider - it's horribly rare to see/hear/read a man saying this stuff. Thank god for Mitchell.

Molesworth · 19/04/2010 10:22

I'm just waiting for someone to pop up on this thread accusing David Mitchell of being a man-hater or attempting to curtail women's right to choose pole dancing as a route to empowerment ...

KinderellaTristabelle · 19/04/2010 10:25

Excellent article! Thanks for posting.

He's very funny on the page. You can certainly hear that 'tone' he has.

Brilliant!

That one about the bins is hilarious too.

LOL at "I can almost hear the oxfam advert."

Oh, he is just too good.

hatwoman · 19/04/2010 12:23

that wheelie bins one is just fantastic. I too, it would seem, am warming to this man. (he has the same approach to clothing as dh)
