"WHO DECIDES? is a feature documentary exploring the growing national conversation in Australia surrounding the participation of transgender women in female-only spaces, alongside broader questions relating to education, healthcare and public policy.

As these issues increasingly move from sporting fields and schools into courtrooms, government inquiries and parliamentary debate, the film looks beyond the headlines to examine how competing rights, public policy and lived experience intersect. Through interviews with people holding a range of perspectives, alongside those directly affected, experts, advocates, journalists, legal professionals and policymakers, WHO DECIDES? seeks to foster a thoughtful exploration of one of Australia's most contested public conversations."

A legitimate aim would be that female people with a particular sexual orientation could meet without male people. It is not just a matter of their interest. It is also a safeguarding issue for those female people.

Maybe, it hasn't been determined yet.

Thanks again for bumping this thread so much, and showing just why the doco has been made.

I'm sure the women of Australia will be all ears to MN musings! 😂

There are plenty of Australian women on MN. But the audience for the doco is not limited to Australia at all.

Isn’t global interest wonderful? The internet makes it all so quick and easy to!

Another keyboard Gender Idiot warrior trotting out all the same ol', same ol' tired mantras. It shows why this film is needed, there's no hope for the likes of our poster, they're gone beyond the rim and are deep in the abyss but if we have any hope of preventing future generations from such stupidity, this ideology has got be stopped now.
Come on Aus you can do it, you know it's not fair, as a sporting nation you of all nations can see how unfair it is to let men compete in the women's sporting category.

Ignore your idiot offspring and do what's right and proper, give women back their rights.

I somehow don’t imagine that Fairgo will trouble us with a reply to your very important points

Nor to the issue of many documented attacks by transwomen on natal women in single-sex spaces

Nor to the issue that MoJ statistics suggest that transwomen commit sexual offences at a higher rate than other men

Nor to the fact that transwomen are such a tiny proportion of the population, but can nevertheless remove single-sex spaces/sports/services from 100% of women

Nor the fact that polling repeatedly shows that the majority of women do not accept men in their single sex spaces/sports/services, regardless of how they identify

inconvenient truths

Yes I’ve been over this already and the usual posters couldn’t answer it then.

If someone is one of the unlucky people who have a cardiac arrest in a toilet compartment (11% of cardiac arrests are in toilets), or a seizure, hypo, choking episode, overdose, head injury, stroke etc then it’s better not to be in a unisex design of toilet because no one will know you are having a medically emergency. But this was overlooked by Canberra because they were concerned about one thing above health and safety.

They should have done a risk assessment. Separate sex toilet washrooms are designed with sinks outside the toilet area and not to be fully enclosed for health and safety reasons. But for these designs they have to have a proper definition of sex which Australia doesn’t seem to have now.

The policy of increasing unisex provision will have most impact on Australian women, children and anyone as their most medically vulnerable. When design is written into policy, it matters.

I collate data here but I have a small amount of data from Australia. I have also been in contact with Australian academics. I know this policy will have lasting impacts.

The introduction of Rupert into the discussion is hilarious really.

It is a contradictory argument. Telling us that Rupert would think women’s rights are going to influence politics in Australia while at the same time telling us that no woman in Australia is concerned about female single sex provisions.

All while then admitting that there is no evidence at all to support that Rupert had anything to do with making the film.

Great stuff.

Rupert's scaremongering tactics re immigrants, muslims, socialists & indigenous people have been 'sellers' in the past here & abroad so he naturally goes with what has worked in the past. That the younger generation aren't held hostage to the views of his media ownship now changes that. What's the contradiction in that?

I believe one poster recently told you that they would not interact with you again. So I guess if that is the case, they will ignore you no matter what name they are posting under.

We all appreciate your posts regardless of who answers.

Any evidence that he has in any way supported, let alone even knows anything about it? Or are you just hoping that mentioning his name invokes the cloak of fear of guilt by association that people will discredit a documentary that you seem to be heavily invested in discrediting.

Wonderfully, proving the reason that any attempt to pull together information so people have a better overall understanding of the situation is very much needed in the first place.

Meanwhile, people can follow the link and decide for themselves whether it is a valuable documentary or not.

Because as a GENUINE FEMINIST I'm not stupid enough to fall for a manufactured astro turfed moral panic designed to enable the ascension of right wing governments who give buggar all about women's rights.

As for women's rights what rights? There are no rights at risk given special exemptions exist for natal women under the anti discrimination act.

And what's absolutely galling is how this manufactured top down grievance that involves 0.5% of trans women has centred itself as the women's right's calamity of our time that effectively silences via its media saturation REAL problems like the epidemic level of domestic & sexual violence women face in this country.

So don't think for one second the women of Australia are going to give this colonialist victorian clap trap a second thought because we live in the real world where trans people are the least of our problems hence ZERO interest in this beat up at the grass roots level regardless of the political funding.

Nice to hear from a GENUINE FEMINIST.
Scotland had something similar at one time, if I remember correctly.

If it wasn't for the self proclaimed "debate pervert" ChoppingGoodGretelTottenhamEmilyNorthernBaileyHowseIcelandicnightsBeePattiesFairgo boosting this thread with their very convincing arguments, that we totally haven't been hearing for the better part of a year, I would have missed this thread entirely, so cheers for that!😊

The man at the 1:37 mark says: "none of us voted for this, this has all just smuggled its way in," this seems to be the tactic with regards to trans ideology doesn't it? I'm reminded of the Denton's Report.

Again, it's absolutely baffling that you think it's a good argument to say that the men who should be allowed into women's spaces are those who really really want to, and who don't like to take no for an answer.

Adding that, come on, there's hardly any of them, really isn't the killer you imagine.

Wishesandhorses · Yesterday 10:42

Always interesting too that when the wheels fall off, the ranting and blame from activists is that everyone's tolerance has failed/bigotry/facism/right wing/ blah blah blah and thats why -

wholly ignoring that the tolerance was mostly there but was destroyed by the behaviour of the men with genders as soon as they got into women's spaces. And by the activists who then couldn't stop themselves bellowing the quiet bits out loud. Repeatedly.

Who was it so wisely said the other day something to the effect of 'it's not lack of visibility that is the problem - it's that this movement has had huge visibility and people discovered they really did not like what they were seeing, or what they realised they'd been facilitating'.

And the bottom line is always rage at being faced with other people having rights too, betraying quite a lot of the lack of health and capacity beneath a great deal of this movement.

As apposed to the TRA's scaremongering tactic of
SHOUTING 'literal genocide' when anyone questions the sense of GI.
Or SHOUTING for the 'decapitation' of women who dare speak up for themselves.

Or SHOUTING NAZI at anyone who mentions the reality that men can't be women.
Or SHOUTING about 'thousands of trans committing suicide' because they feelz unsafe.

The youngest generation aren't buying the crap, and are looking at the generations before who have as if they've all got a screw loose.

Please can you explain? It doesn't seem obvious to me why lesbians aren't allowed networking apps.

Well, I hadn't expected so many replies to this thread.

A big thanks to Fairgo for bumping it so many times - I didn't read a single word, so next time maybe just post: "Bump" as it would save you a lot of time.

Hopefully all the Australian MNers have seen about the film now and can decide for themselves whether they want to watch it or not.

An even bigger thanks to Keeptoiletssafe for your informative posts.

So, howse that GENUINE FEMINIST discussion tactic working for you today?

Getting much traction as a position of authority? Do you yell it at people who won’t just fall in line with your discussion points that everyone you disagree with is being manipulated by Rupert?

You can tell from the promo this is a heavily biased video masquerading as 'just asking questions' given that 99% of the clips are pushing an anti trans narrative.

Looks like the latest desperate attempt to get a grass roots anti trans movement going in Australia where none exists despite their many well funded media campaigns to do so. It will be forever a lost cause in Australia as we don't have the same anti egalitarian cultural influences as the UK does.

You mean it is pro-women and sex reality? Doesn't give whole field to trans advocates is what you actually mean, isn't it? I watched the trailer. It is clear that trans voices are given half the space - and I heard Mr Tickle speak before I saw him and he is most definitely a man. A mentally unwell one who needs help.

Helleofabore · Yesterday 11:03

Reposting for anyone who just skipped over the past couple of pages.

Just in case anyone has missed this UK doco or wants to rewatch it in prep for next week‘s launch here is the link

https://adulthumanfemale.info/wp/

Of course, there are threads on MN about the protests that blocked the showing of the doco in Edinburgh at the Uni. How male people intimidated and blocked female people from watching it together.

https://archive.is/guKEW

All because feminists rejected that male people should be included in female single sex provisions and made a documentary about it.

No doubt, the Australian doco would be similarly protested if the location for the launch gets leaked.

Look that's fine I have no issues with anyone promoting their view however disagreeable but don't pretend its balanced & then have the full cast of sky channel agit prop right wing pundits as the over arching view point. Its false advertising.
