"WHO DECIDES? is a feature documentary exploring the growing national conversation in Australia surrounding the participation of transgender women in female-only spaces, alongside broader questions relating to education, healthcare and public policy.

As these issues increasingly move from sporting fields and schools into courtrooms, government inquiries and parliamentary debate, the film looks beyond the headlines to examine how competing rights, public policy and lived experience intersect. Through interviews with people holding a range of perspectives, alongside those directly affected, experts, advocates, journalists, legal professionals and policymakers, WHO DECIDES? seeks to foster a thoughtful exploration of one of Australia's most contested public conversations."

Thanks for the heads up, it looks interesting, the trailer has just as many pro women's right's speakers as anti-women's rights, so hopefully the film will live up to it's promise to foster a thoughtful exploration and not just a one sided hit job.

Might be a good time to be an Australian woman now, things could be on the up.😁

I am really looking forward to this and hoping that it gets plenty of views here in Aus, god knows we need the light shined on how thorough the institutional capture really is.
I signed up to be reminded and I guess, provided a link, but does anyone know if it will be on any of the TV channels, or will it be online?

You can tell from the promo this is a heavily biased video masquerading as 'just asking questions' given that 99% of the clips are pushing an anti trans narrative.

Looks like the latest desperate attempt to get a grass roots anti trans movement going in Australia where none exists despite their many well funded media campaigns to do so. It will be forever a lost cause in Australia as we don't have the same anti egalitarian cultural influences as the UK does.

It does look very interesting. I do think it’s odd how women saying no to mixed sex spaces is considered “anti-trans”. Surely that would suggest there is a clash of demands at the very least.

’You can tell from the promo this isn’t relentlessly TWAW propaganda and features women saying no, there fore I will ignore the vibe shift and slag it off because the idea of female rights makes me deeply uncomfortable.’

And just why does the idea of female rights and female only soaces make you so uncomfortable, Fairgo? What effect does it actually have on you?

Manyanamanyana · Yesterday 06:53

To the true believers, they understand that it is a way of saying that TW are not Women, which of course is exactly what we are saying, so that's the problem.

I know, “just asking questions,” which might cause people to start thinking about the logic of their position is so mean.

We all know the trans activists prefer to get legislation and rules changed “No Questions Asked”, but those days are over. If your position can’t withstand a few questions that begs the question “Why?”

Because as a GENUINE FEMINIST I'm not stupid enough to fall for a manufactured astro turfed moral panic designed to enable the ascension of right wing governments who give buggar all about women's rights.

As for women's rights what rights? There are no rights at risk given special exemptions exist for natal women under the anti discrimination act.

And what's absolutely galling is how this manufactured top down grievance that involves 0.5% of trans women has centred itself as the women's right's calamity of our time that effectively silences via its media saturation REAL problems like the epidemic level of domestic & sexual violence women face in this country.

So don't think for one second the women of Australia are going to give this colonialist victorian clap trap a second thought because we live in the real world where trans people are the least of our problems hence ZERO interest in this beat up at the grass roots level regardless of the political funding.

The first person on the clip is a 'trans', there was footage of Tickle and the narration referred to him as 'she' so any suggestion that it's 'anti-trans' is hysterical hyperbole. The remarks sounds like a last disparate attempt to keep 'No Debate' alive, it may turn out in the full version that the 'trans' narrative falls apart but that's not because it's biased, it's because the 'trans' narrative is a load of shite. As Kevin said the Overton Window has moved and it's shifted back to where it should be.

Men are not women, and sorry Kev but you're not a man.

I was also wondering if it was going to be shown nationwide on TV or is just going to be on line.

It's only one token trans woman with the rest being the usual Murdoch right wing shill suspects in the clip. Maybe if you knew anything about Australian politics you would know that, Grahaaam.

Oh look another AI Garbageteer, it started with Nietzsche - German, it was misappropriated by Foucault - French and then spewed forth by Butler - American. Aus has been re-colonised by stealth, you're now part of the Post-Modern Global blob, there nothing authentic about you and the 'anti-women feminist's' of Aus.
Why don't you wait until you see the film before you pass judgement.

BusyExpert · Yesterday 07:44

Pointless discussion. There is only one group that can decide about the inclusion of men in frocks to a woman’s arena and that is women.

and the majority don’t want them

No sweetheart they haven’t decided. In the UK trans”women” are being firmly put back in their box. Any woman that supports this rubbish cannot call themselves a feminist.

The clips said it all. And mark my words, no major TV stations will touch it when they see its just another Rupert project.

The right know the they have zero credibility when it comes to affordability in this country that's why they have to rely on scapegoating immigrants, women, trans & indigenous people to get any motion with what remains of their only hope: ignorant bigots.

Then why the fear, why the aggression, apart from the fact that gender idiots are permanently set on the 'bullying and shout down' setting, why are you so afraid of one little film, paid for by the proverbial 'far-right', who no one pays annnny attention to.

Why the anger? Why ask something that you aren't interested in? I already told you:

"And what's absolutely galling is how this manufactured top down grievance that involves 0.5% of trans women has centred itself as the women's right's calamity of our time that effectively silences via its media saturation REAL problems like the epidemic level of domestic & sexual violence women face in this country."

That you don't believe domestic & sexual violence epidemics is anything to be 'angry' about shows exactly the sincerity with which your interest in women's rights are.

StealthTroublemaker · Yesterday 08:24

So @fairgo, we have women saying letting males into their spaces makes them uncomfortable and unsafe. You say they’re overreacting. Can you explain how making all spaces mixed sex makes women safer and what material benefit women receive from doing so? You seem very sure that women asserting their rights to single sex spaces is “anti-trans”, but then that shows there is a conflict. Why do you believe the feelings and wishes of a TIM to access a female space trump the feelings and wishes of a woman who needs a single sex space?

do you believe that TIF should not use any female space but only male spaces? Will this be safe for them? You seem to not mention them at all….

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · Yesterday 08:26

@Fairgo - I didn't say anger, I said fear, and I didn't pay attention to your AI slop post.

There are plenty of women in your country raising the matters you're so concern with, but they're being hamper by the fact that there's no such category as women in Aus any more, thanks to the actions of Gillard when she was at the very TOP.

This thread isn't about VAWAG, your whataboutery is just an attempt to deflect from the topic at hand because you have no arguments to back up the genderwang you're so devoted too.

LouisTheYardTeacher · Yesterday 08:39

@Fairgo What we've had in the UK is a gradual process of the arguments for and against gender ideology being aired and publicly debated, and inevitably over time the GC side has gained support and the gender ideology side has lost it. I expect the same process will happen in Aus over the next few years.

Since when does ‘egalitarian’ mean not being allowed to ask questions or consider other perspectives?

Egalitarian =/= No Debate

Sorry to burst your bubble but in Europe the TWAW is certainly not a done deal. The focus is less on toilets though, and more on sports, healthcare, prisons and changing rooms.

My government still tries to treat it as isolated incidents, led by a gay prime minister who is very 'protect the dolls' and is 'expecting' a baby by surrogacy. That alone probably says enough
