Ex GC social worker to sue over pronouns

Does anyone have a Times sub? This popped up on my FB feed, from The Times, but I don't have a sub so can't read the details.

" A gender-critical social worker who alleges he was stripped of a case over his views on transgender issues is launching legal action after a row about pronouns.

Charles Plummer, a former social worker and family court adviser at the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), claims managers removed him as guardian for a family of nine children after he refused to use “they/them” pronouns in official records.

The move followed complaints from the child’s school and local authority that Plummer had used “she/her” in written reports. Plummer defended his actions, arguing that preferred pronouns require parental consent and that non-binary terms like “they/them” make legal safeguarding documents “incomprehensible” "

The comments are mostly reassuringly sensible.

And will there be another crowd funder for this?

He was a guardian for vulnerable children. Of course he was fired for disrespecting them, how could anyone trust someone who puts their own 'views' above a child's wellbeing? Quite incredibly selfish.

He appears to have been fired for protecting the children

But that is exactly what the school was doing. Social work records must be accurate as to sex and the Cass review said that social transitioning was not a neutral act. If SS are using wrong sex pronouns that is both dangerous and appalling and a huge safeguarding issue.

If you want to read the article before having 50 fits you will see that he always used a child’s preferred pronouns when speaking to them. In reports to the court he quite properly specified both sex and gender identity. CAFCASS only get involved when there are serious issues (violence, sexual assault etc) so sex actually matters here.

Cafcass are not social services, just a point of fact
