Is the constant hounding of a trans person really necessary?

Just a reminder that all claims against Dr Upton were dismissed.

They shouldn't have been though. Anyone who watched that tribunal and possesses more than a quarter inch of brain knows it. The basis on which they were dismissed was laughable.

What an oppressive cycle it is when male people take female people through court for referring to them as male people and that that male person can label as being discriminatory.

It certainly makes speaking directly and explicitly about an incident much more difficult.

Helleofabore · Yesterday 18:05

Australia, France, Brazil (NZ too, because isn't Rex being taken through court?). Female people have to consider whether they even want to make statements about incidents if there is potential for a law case against them for describing a male person using commonly understood and established language to describe them.

You can ask - but they can't answer for the DM. Again, you will have to ask the DM.

Edited

But they can surely answer for themselves about where they got all the extra information from? Right? I won't hold my breath!

So being trans?

Did you just admit that "being trans" = pretending to be the opposite sex?
Will wonders never cease?

Although he did score an own goal as it's now known worldwide that he's a bloke, despite his claims to the contrary. If he'd just behaved appropriately and shown some courtesy and respect to the women he came into contact with, he wouldn't have this following him around. #sadtimes.

There is no excuse for a male doctor to present themselves to a female patient who has requested a female doctor.

There is nothing in the report that even suggests this happened. Unless you know something different?

Meaning he was demanding a female patient, who has a quite high chance of being a vulnerable female patient, decide whether or not he was 'female' and whether she would risk being negatively treated for rejecting him.

Again - there isn't a scrap of evidence that any of this occurred.

And again, that is your opinion.

Others can read the words and come to a different understanding. Language is great that way. You can choose to dismiss the report, others can understand why it might be more guarded and less explicit.

So, do you support Dr Upton if he presented himself as a female doctor if a female patient stated she needed a female doctor? yes or no?

Helleofabore · Yesterday 18:15

The issue is also that this discussion is also about the lack of clarity in the health policies that also mean that it is time for NSW Health to be very clear whether female people in NSW have the right to ask for a female health care professional and expect only a female health care professional.

I know that there are female patients in Victoria that would love to feel they had the confidence in a positive outcome also.

Neversofaraway · Yesterday 18:16

I would not be concerned about seeing a lesbian doctor, she is no threat to me. But a TIM claiming to be attracted to women, as Upton has stated, is the same threat as any other man.

More of a threat - he's openly admitted he would ignore women's requests. Decent men don't do that.

So, do you support Dr Upton if he presented himself as a female doctor if a female patient stated she needed a female doctor? yes or no?

My understanding is this:

  1. Patient sees and recognizes Dr Upton
  2. Patient becomes alarmed at the prospect of being treated by Dr Upton
  3. Big strong man stands guard in case the hospital forces his wife to get treated by this one doctor

Verdict: Dr Upton GUILTY of being spotted at her place of work.

Also, maybe you can answer whether you think female people in Australia should have confidence that if they do ask for a female doctor or female health care professional, that they will get a female person, or at least be told that there are none available right now and other arrangements can be made?

Because there are female people in Australia right now who don't believe they have clarity around that specific scenario.

Do you think that they should?

Given what Dr Upton said at the tribunal, I would be pretty alarmed to see him about to treat me, as well

No I think the husband's posturing is a little humorous considering there is no scenario where this would have ever occurred unless the patient was dying and Dr Upton was the literal only Dr on earth

I would say that it’s amazing that there’s so many posters on here who will indulge in any amount of disingenuous sealioning to defend, or even make a victim out of, this absolute scrote.
But it’s not amazing at all unfortunately, it’s boringly predictable and pretty much par for the course when some bloke with special lady feelz behaves like the horrible specimen of a man that he is.

It a typical post from this poster.

What a fucking surprise.

I’m surprised it took so long for the good doctor to pop back up again.

I half expected him to pop up at another NHS trust with this as I wasn’t sure if the Australia thing was true.

They’ll probably make him a saint over there

I don't perceive or categorize trans women as men so it's hard to answer. If a woman is actually distressed at the prospect of being treated by a trans woman, then a cis female doctor should be sent instead. Ideally, nobody should be treated by a doctor they feel unsafe with. But two things, 1) I don't think the number of patients with this particular need is that big, 2) I think inclusion should be the default and exclusion the exception, so I don't think Dr Upton is in the wrong to offer treatment. I also think it's ingenious to imply sexual or fetishistic motives; I would expect a Dr to offer treatment.

I will repeat the question because this is very much a swerve. it is not hard to answer at all. It is actually a yes or no answer.
