James Groves "who also goes by the name of April"

What a brave victim and good to see accurate reporting at least

The victim, who was praised for her "exceptional bravery", said she lost her childhood due to the abuse.

Was he April before the charges I wonder. Another sick man

Chersfrozenface · Yesterday 17:58

Avon and Somerset Police's communications on this case avoid pronouns altogether and use "Groves" throughout.

I'd love to know how he was referred to in court.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · Yesterday 18:42

Horrible human being. Hope they rot in prison.

How they identify is irrelevant though.

The victim's bravery astounds me and I hope they get proper support, which so many rape survivors do not.

Justice for all victims, and restored trauma recovery services, is what we should all be campaigning for.

Using a rape victim's trauma to further transphobia is sick. It also downplays the individual's responsibility and horrific choices by implying that trans women are inherently sexually violent.

I was abused by someone with learning disability. I spend precisely no time online claiming that people with LD are violent, and have often pushed back against that harmful stereotype.

All love to this survivor. They deserve so much help and I really hope they get it.

TransParentlyAnnoyed · Yesterday 18:46

I just want to add: everyone who continually reposts names and images of rapists, risks retraumatising their victims.

At least asterisk out their names or anonymise them. Stop reposting details of what was done, and their photos. It is deeply harmful to survivors.

Don’t try to shut down MN for discussing a story that’s on the bbc website FFS.
And the rapist is ‘he’. Just the one of him.

solerolover · Yesterday 18:55

My heart breaks for the victim, it truly does, she will never be the same again thanks to the actions of this depraved man. I hope he rots in the male prison where he belongs.

Exactly this, it's very obvious what @TransParentlyAnnoyed is trying to do here.

What is wrong with you?

This is a parenting website predominantly populated by women. Stop gaslighting us into accepting child abuse and misogyny.

GreyskySexRealistsky · Yesterday 18:59

What do you think risks retraumatising the victim more?

A group of women discussing how dreadful this attack was and sympathising with her?

Or seeing her rapist pandered to and called "they" not "he". He did it. A man. He.

I really hope so too. Makes you really appreciate the work of women like JK Rowling, doesn’t it, ensuring rape victims get the support they need. Especially those women who were told by other services they needed to ‘reframe their trauma’. Despicable, isn’t it, when you think about it?

Joolsin · Yesterday 20:14

Why are you misgendering the victim, @TransParentlyAnnoyed - the article clearly refers to she and her. And at the very same time, you can't or won't bring yourself to identify this piece of scum abuser as he really is, a perverted man.

backformoreofthesame · Yesterday 20:20

No one is claiming that transgender individuals are any more harmful than other men

the issue is that some people want us to see them as less harmful, less dangerous and that’s unacceptable. And plain wrong. I have seen many a Facebook post claiming that “no transwomen has ever …” and that’s straight out lying. Fraudulent. Dishonest. Deceitful.

if men didn’t try to force us to accept them as women then this thread wouldn’t exist

slughater · Yesterday 20:22

how 'they' identify is very relevant though
man rapes girl=sadly unremarkable statistically
woman rapes girl=impossible
transwoman rapes girl=sadly unremarkable, and the reason we need to treat TW as men

borntobequiet · Yesterday 20:32

The more people see these pictures the better, which is of course precisely why certain people don’t want them posted.

Yeah. That's totally why you want a trans-identifying rapist anonymity because of the vanishingly small chance that the child he raped multiple times might see his picture. You might want to have a word with the BBC (where the OP found his photo), they're always pulling this shit. I kid you not, even on the telly!🫢

The Police do it too.

Transparent, means see through doesn't it?

That may be how you feel. I personally take every opportunity to name my paedophile rapist so people can Google the sick bastard.

Steven Rushworth - thoroughly vile human being, thankfully died painfully whilst serving his prison sentence for raping me as a child.

https://ukdatabase.co/2013/07/17/steven-rushworth-ellesmere-port/

And how these rapists identify does matter. Mine identified as an upstanding member of society. Which turned out to be as big a lie as any man claiming to be a woman is.

James "April" Groves identifies as a woman. It is an important detail about this particular paedophile rapist as once again it shows that at the end of the day that men claiming to be women are still just men.

Men remain just as dangerous after their decision to claim to be a woman as they were before their decision to claim to be a woman.

Groves is just yet another example that men are men no matter their pronoun choice, name change and choice of attire.

I'm not saying all men are rapists, and I'm certainly not saying all men who claim to be women are rapists, however the possibility that any individual male human may at any moment decide to rape women remains. Even the ones with lady feelz.

Well done to the girl who reported this despicable man who raped her. How brave she has been to do that. I hope she is getting the support she needs.

Actually the prison stats do seem to suggest a higher rate of sexual offences than other men, which wouldn't be that surprising when identifying as a woman would potentially lead to being placed in a women's prison etc.

In any event, it definitely doesn't seem to be lower than other men.

@TransParentlyAnnoyed why do you come here?
I also wonder why you defend this?
How can you not see the pattern?
It just makes me think that, like anyone who steadfastly refuses to see this, you simply cannot remove the blinkers.
I'm sure there's a term for people who when faced with a constant and growing barrage of evidence, simply will not consider an alternative point of view.
Men pretending to be women are liars. When people lie to your face about something that is blatantly untrue, they are telling you so many things about themselves, and one of those things is that they have no concern for your discomfort, that they expect you to go along with that lie, regardless of your own sense of reality. It is textbook gaslighting, which is a red flag for dangerous behaviour.
Many women have learned, on a cellular level, what red flags signify, and will instinctively retreat, and warn others.
Other women, and I used to be one, will decide to ignore the red flag, out of some sense of wanting to give the benefit of the doubt. It is this generosity of their nature that attracts red flagged men to niave women and children.
When you demand that women and children over-ride their instincts, you are cooperating with, and actually supporting the type of man who looks for opportunities to exploit the trust of niave women and children. You become complicit in the damage they do.
You are complicit @TransParentlyAnnoyed and you are worse than that, you actually come here and actively harangue women who recognise red flags, and tell us we are bad people for wanting to protect the trusting and niave women and children most likely to be victimised by abusive men who lie about who and what they are.
And you are raising a human being to specifically participate in this gross lie, to live a life of dishonesty and deciet, and to chastise (at the least) anyone who does not go along with that blatant lie.
I couldn't hold you in more contempt if I tried, and you are an excellent example of why women and children have a new danger to navigate in this already dangerous world.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · Yesterday 22:02

Don’t care how he identifies- I identify him as an utter bastard. That poor little girl.

Transparently is content to allow their ideology and bigotry to blind them to the truth- transwomen are men like all the others, certainly no better, possibly worse and absolutely indistinguishable.
