Revised UK Code of Practice risks institutionalising discrimination against transgender and gender-diverse persons - UN experts

UN human rights experts warned that the UK’s revised Code of Practice for Services, Public Functions, and Associations, in force as of 5 August, may place transgender and gender-diverse persons at heightened risk of discrimination and exclusion.

“We remain concerned that the revised Code adopts an unduly rigid approach to trans-inclusive services, leaving insufficient scope for service providers to consider whether inclusive arrangements are lawful, justified and appropriate in the particular circumstances.”

worth repeating:

'UN unhappy with women having rights'.

The capture of the UN is frustrating in the extreme. Incredible they don’t care about women any longer.

That would be the UN that appointed a man who claimed he had become a woman as head of UN Women UK?

How about the UN encouraged the trans rights groups to lobby for / set up trans inclusive services that can run alongside and not instead of single sex services?

That way everyone gets the services they want / need / deserve.

Oh wait, I know the answer to this one.

So "good" they say it twice?!

Everyday is like groundhog day.

Trans rights are more important than women's rights. Even according to "Equal Rights Experts" - just look at the list of who signed this "statement".

The UN is a joke.

I hope it does lead to exclusion of men from women’s sports and spaces and discrimination against those men trying to access female spaces. That is the whole point. Not all discrimination is bad.

Helleofabore · Yesterday 21:04

Considering who they appoint into representation roles in UNWomen, I would be surprised if they did support female single sex provisions being female only.

Does anyone listen to what the UN says anymore in relation to anything?

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · Yesterday 21:17

Anything we can do to piss off the UN I'm all in favour of.

😁

I think it is worth remembering that within the UN, much like within UK political parties there are some standing, or trying to stand up for women's sex based rights.

But as usual their voices are drowned out by the TRA majority.

(Must admit I was tempted in the OP title to put experts in quotes. How can the UN claim to have "experts" when they say things that contradict each other?)
