I went to Trans Pride and here’s how it went

I wrote a Substack about Trans Pride in Brighton this weekend.

The extent of the anti-woman extremism is pretty shocking. Anyone claiming it was a celebration of transgender people is seriously in denial.

It’s become a hate march against women who hold a protected belief:

It's the sheer level of hatred for the very people they claim to be part of that gets you, isn't it? You were brave to face that.

Seethlaw · 20/07/2026 15:33

Damn, you're one brave woman Shock !

Trans Pride is so very different to Gay Pride. Gay people just want to be intimate with each other. Trans activists want to share intimate spaces with women, the very people they loathe and despise. They demand total capitulation, nothing else will do.

That makes sense to me. Gay people are self-contained: they don't need straight people to exist, to live and love each other. If straight people ceased to exist tomorrow, gay people would go on being themselves.

But a lot of trans people only exist in relationship with the rest of the world. They need other people to both define a "baseline normal" from which to orient themselves, and to validate them. They can't be trans if they don't start out in one group of people, and are they really trans if nobody agrees they've moved to another group?

So it makes sense that transwomen hate women so much: they are literally dependent on women to both define themselves (they are trans because they are men who feel like women, which wouldn't make sense if women didn't exist in the first place), and to validate them (they will have achieved transition if women accept them as one of them).

And in my experience, men really don't like it when they are helplessly dependent on women. They'll use any means to ensure they remain the dominant partner in the relationship with women - hence the recourse to threats and violence and pissing and other "alpha male" displays.

Thank you @IamSarah - it's a depressing read, but you write really well and your analysis exposes so many of the problems. This isn't about emancipation, it is about control. And it's not like being gay. So very sad.

changedusernameforthis1 · 20/07/2026 15:37

I haven't been to a pride event in years because of this. I miss the happy, carefree feeling it used to fill me with. I doubt I'll ever go again.

For context, I'm trans (female sex) and seeing things like this is disheartening. I don't know why they have to be so aggressive. They're ruining it not only for themselves, but for everyone else who just wants to live their lives in peace.

It really is, as you said, a hate march now.

Floisme · 20/07/2026 15:42

Thanks for going and reporting back. I agree with a previous poster - you write very well. Hope you're doing OK.

IamSarah · 20/07/2026 16:02

Yes you’re right @Seethlawand the anti-woman protesting is so different from the gay marriage protests.

Gay people wanting to marry each other is such a different ask to male people demanding access to vulnerable women.

I really hate the comparisons between homophobia 50 years ago and supposed transphobia now.

It really is and the sad thing is the woman haters have taken over both Prides now. The main Pride event still tries to cling to some celebration of homosexuality but it is still dominated by anti-woman extremism.

My local feminist group weren’t allowed to march for lesbian visibility back in 2024 as apparently exclusive same sex attraction is too transphobic for Pride now.

Thanks for sharing that OP. Depressing read. Extreme end unwellness and antisocial personality disorder seems to be the main theme rather than gender now.

SinnerBoy · 20/07/2026 16:23

I agree that it's depressing, all that rage and vitriol and threats. It's all about intimidation, as far as I can see. I really don't understand why they're indulged, or why so many politicians insist that they are poor victims and that the hate is equal on both sides.

It absolutely is not.

IwantToRetire · 20/07/2026 16:46

Thanks for being brave enough to go!

And taking the time to write it up.

I just don't understand how bystanders, the police, council community workers just dont see the hate. Cant you imagine a women's march with placards and chants like that?

There would be loud and shocked responses and pressure for the "authorities" to "do something" about it.

Yet it seems this is now seen as normal.

Of course, it doesn't really need saying, but as it is about the worth of women, it is just another confirmation that women just dont matter.

IamSarah · 20/07/2026 16:48

Yes if you look at the fawning politician posts compared with the actual placards at Trans Pride it’s pretty jarring.

Just gross.

If this was all a fairy tale you would say everyone has had a spell cast on them by some devilish force. And one day the great good witch will turn up and reverse the spell.

But sadly it seems many adults are totally consciously siding with the anti woman public campaign.

WallaceinAnderland · 20/07/2026 17:15

Terfs (whoever they are) living rent free in TRA's heads.

Imagine them wanting to put Terf on a banner. As if that's the most important message they want to display in today's climate. Or are they just re-using banners from 7 years ago?

This was because it was about love, about people who wanted to be together being allowed to be together with all the same protection and recognition of law that heterosexual couples have.

Pride now is totally about hate. It’s about taking away the protections of women, children and those of gay/lesbian people. It’s about misrepresenting the law, distorting it and the rights they confer.

I don’t understand how society and the media have taken such a wrong turn.

That's grotesque. The DSD (intersex is a very outdated term) people have asked not to be used as ammunition in the trans debate.

Bonkers1966 · 20/07/2026 17:41

Fantastic piece. Thanks for sharing.

Justme56 · 20/07/2026 17:56

Thanks for posting. Interesting to read the comments by the person who writes I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, while hurling a whole load of angry abuse. Not sure what to make of that!

Igmum · 20/07/2026 17:58

Thank you @IamSarahyou are pretty heroic and thank you @Seethlawyour analysis is spot on. This is hate-fuelled activism. How sad that they couldn’t think of positive messages for their placards.

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 20/07/2026 19:22

Thanks for the link, you're right it's just frothing at the mouth hatred, at anyone who won't give them what they want, mostly women of course.
There was a poster from the other side of reality on a thread that's since been deleted, who was emoting hate all over the place. This is what happens when you pander to lunatics, they're behaviour just escalates to epic proportions.
When are the handmaidens going to wake up and see the monster they've created.

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 20/07/2026 19:30

Again with the "arm the dolls" - why are none of them helping the bricks? I mean the dolls get an easier time of it all anyway. It's all so weird and bizarre and illogical it makes my tiny mind fizz with the lunacy.

I can only think that it is becaise they all belive that they are dolls and all convincingly pass. At least in their own minds.

Whatchamacallitt · 20/07/2026 19:56

The aggressive, angry men make me blind with rage. Meanwhile the young women with mastectomy and self harm scars break my heart. I wonder how many of them have been abused? They are so at risk by being grouped in with paraphilic males.

I remember reading the story of a trans-identified woman who was raped as a barely pubescent girl by a much older trans-identified man she had met on an online trans group. She got pregnant as a result and had to have an abortion at just 12 years old.

She was being slated for sharing her experience and calling for better safeguarding of vulnerable children in the 'trans community'. The slurs 'TERF' and 'transmisogyny' were thrown at her despite her being a fully fledged 'transman' complete with brutal mastectomy and even more brutal phalloplasty.

I can't help but wonder if her dysphoria would have naturally resolved if it hadn't been for the brutal rape in her formative years. Now she's mutilated like many other vulnerable young women. When we look at the rates of trans-identified girls and women who have been sexually abused or raped it's an epidemic. No wonder they want to run away from their female sex.

icingonmycupcake · 20/07/2026 19:58

Great piece. I'm sorry it was such an unpleasant experience for you. ☹️

What it highlighted for me was how much transwomen fall back on male aggression when they don't get their own way. If they truly were 'women born in the wrong body' they would understand us, empathise with our need for single sex spaces etc and attempt to find a middle ground that would have been acceptable to our needs/rights and theirs.

But we were never offered that option. It was 'no debate' from the get go. It was about control and dominance. Be fully compliant or we'll do our best to ruin you via your employment, social life, family ties etc
For some 'alleged' transwomen I believe this is one of their primary motivations for transitioning. To bully women with limited consequence. And in some instances with outright support from Government, Business, Institutions, Media etc.

There may well be casualties who genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria and don't participate in or condone the harassment of women & girls. But their voices (if they exist) aren't being heard. Perhaps drowned out by TRA's screaming abuse.

Suffice to say the well of compassion I had for the plight of the trans community has run dry. I'd like to think that could change in the future.

redboxer321 · 20/07/2026 20:11

It is indeed a great piece but such a shame it needed to be written (which it absolutely did).
Her piece on Peter Tatchell is excellent too. Another who is hiding in plain sight.

GrumpyPanda · 20/07/2026 20:25

Thank God you went incognito and didn't bring a placard of your own! I was honestly concerned reading this.
