Drifting into the arena of the unwell.

... and we're back on topic.

Notice they have to make a decision whether to charge the suspect in Widdecombe’s case today. I am wondering whether there are any links between Herbert and Kelly - maybe just through membership of a forum or something?

I can’t believe Herbert is only being considered for that one tweet? Am also surprised at how long it seems to be taking to either charge or release - the Scottish system seems a little slow given I’d have expected the report submission/Procurator Fiscal to have responded quickly given the media attention?

I have a home made Findus crispy pancake recipe saved to try - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZiLxyOoE7U

The outside is crushed Frazzles, which I'd forgot were even a thing.

Yes I’ve got it too, I love her recipes. As a veggie could probably find another sort of snack to use instead of frazzles.

Aren't frazzles veggie? Most crisps that claim to be meat flavoured are in fact veggie.....

AgedPudding · 20/07/2026 17:16

OMG - it was the gerkhins that gave it the tang, wasn’t it? Had no idea until now! Fancy a nice cold dollop of sandwich spread in a slice of white

I sometimes still use it in a fish finger sandwich. Just bloody love it.

AgedPudding · 20/07/2026 17:20

Plus, if a cyber attack knocks out electricity the tinned stuff would be easier to eat than a pie

I've a couple of camping gas stoves with half a dozen gas bottles in the garage.
That's a weight off my mind.

Lalgarh · 20/07/2026 17:27

Yeah we've got a camping stove for End Times too.

And noodles

AgedPudding · 20/07/2026 17:28

Findus crispy pancake, anyone?

The molten cheese ones took the skin off the inside of your mouth if you didn't let it stand 10 minutes.

Noodles are all one of mine eats. We buy them in bulk already. Maybe `i should get extra though…

They probably are but I’d rather not have the bacon taste!

Ah, fair enough. I think I'd pick a ready salted in that case. Or maybe kettle chips sea salt and black pepper, they'd crunch well and are nice.

I think we've got a couple of camping stoves and there's plenty of gas. We've also got our main gas bbq plus a couple of cast-offs from other people which still work. About 10 years ago, for fun we built a cob oven in the garden, initially for making pizzas and then found that once it's heated, you can cook for several hours. Pizza, bread, roast veg and sausages and last to go in a joint of meat. It all comes out slightly smoked which is very tasty.

Oh yes, perfect! Frazzles are more like monster munch type snacks, so those or wotsits might also work, I was thinking.

You'll need to report back, enquiring minds need to know!

Herbert has been charged by Police Scotland and referred to the Procurator Fiscal - he’ll probably have been released on an undertaking to attend court if required and possibly with other conditions.

The PF can take weeks to decide whether to prosecute or not.

It was crack for kids, wasn’t it? If I friends to tea, a bowl of butterscotch angel delight and bread and butter was always served for pud. But then I used to take sandwiches to school with ‘sandwich spread’ in - a weird concoction of finely chopped salad veggies mixed in a tangy salad cream that really looked like vomit and probably acted like battery acid on my stomach lining. Loved it though. Not sure they make that any more.

Oh yes Sandwich Spread! We often had sandwich spread on our lunch sandwiches. I can’t remember if we had anything else in them but I don’t think so. Yet when I think of it now it seems more like a sort of mayonnaise with sprinkles rather than an actual filling doesn’t it?

Mmmnotsure · 20/07/2026 23:26

FarriersGirl · 20/07/2026 11:46

I'm amazed you can still get Angel Delight - it was a treat when I was a child. Does anyone remember Vesta meals? They were dehydrated chinese style food. My DF was a fan and when my DM went back to work he used to produce them when we came in from school.

Vesta beef curry. With sultanas in. And the picture of a ring of very very white rice with the curry piled up inside. 'Twas the most exotic thing.

I'd just like to point out that my mum made the best childhood chips. No lard involved. She subjected a Belgian friterie owner to inquisition, until she established the secret (two fryings at different temperatures) and they were amazing. Posh chefs did not invent double/triple frying chips.
