Oh, and I now want tractor nail decals.
Which is pointless, as all I ever do with my fingernails is trim them and keep them clean - the see a lot of the nail brush at the kitchen sink. My life is not friendly to elegant manicures.

And yes, Marie, the range of Valtra colours is shocking.

This is the closest I can find. It's slightly shimmery, which New Hollands aren't. NH have a habit of fading quite early, some of them look distinctly more periwinkle than royal blue.

Finally got the problematic wisdom tooth out on Friday morning. Took the dentist an hour to do it - it had to come out in slivers and part of it had been absorbed by the jaw bone. It was fully grown and lying on its side underneath the gum: she got the roots out first and the crown last. At one point, she asked the other dentist next door for a second opinion.

The other girl came in, peered and agreed with what my dental surgeon was doing, in terms of where to cut.

Halfway through, I discovered that I could have demanded a GA. Hey ho.

In the end, she cut another bit of the crown away from the jaw and then the last bit of crown just lifted out with tweezers. "Well, that was a cheeky monkey!" exclaimed the nurse.

My face keeps changing colour, but the swelling has gone down a bit. What puzzles me, though, is the bruise down my neck which now extends to both sides. I look as though someone's strangled me. (It was only one side yesterday.)

I ordered out for mince and tatties yesterday. When I opened the door, the delivery man exclaimed 'Whoa!'

I quickly explained that I hadn't been beaten up.

The feeling hasn't come back properly yet - and I did get the obligatory "It might be permanent" warning, but I appear to be able to speak okay so it's not as bad as it might be.

Sounds like you have all sorts of pretty colours of your own, Weary! I expect you'll look worse before you look better, that always seems to be the case for me, but glad the tooth is out. Fingers crossed for a swift and uneventful recovery.

It's raining today, the garden is getting a watering - another good thing.

I have been watering my porch plants, but some of the violas seem to have given up the ghost. Shall just wait and see whether they perk up again.

I always think of MF's as being red.
I associate that colour more with Claas.

I've had some tremendous bruises in my time (from stuff like balancing on chairs, being knocked over by a dog, coming off a horse - and almost coming off a horse, where your leg gets caught between the stirrup leather and the saddle). I always enjoy watching their progress from Sky of Doom to Amazing Sunset.

Bloody hell, Weary. I'm glad you survived it but it sounds grim.

Did they warn you about potential deafness?

I got mine done with a general anaesthetic so I don't know whether they used a lawnmower, but it sure felt like it.

The details are so awful that on the whole I'd rather read a post about actual spdrs than read again what the dentist did to you😨

The only positive thing I can think of is....it's over. You appear to have been big and bwave about it - infinitely more than I think I would be. And every day you'll be getting better, looking less multi-coloured, feeling more feeling, and able to eat proper stuff.

Just catching up….here are some random comments:

Cranes: there are quite a few in the marshes by the Severn at Slimbridge on the English side which I believe are the descendents of birds originally raised there and then released in the Somerset levels, which have found their way back. It seems some have made it up across the river and there have been chicks born in wales.

Bruising: MrDragons sprain has at this point developed to purple toes, reddish foot and a greenish yellow calf. He got it checked on Friday evening (yes, we know that’s a silly time to go to A&E but 111 told him to) and has been instructed to rest it for several weeks. He’s bad at staying home so we went to Martin Mere WWT and he sat in the nearest hide while I had a bit of a walk around. Too windy and wrong time of year for much but lots of the usual suspects including several of the recently increasingly common Great White Egrets standing among similar numbers of hunched herons. My walk included the recently opened ‘longest set of stepping stones in Europe’

And Marie - carets are the markup for italics, asterisks for bold. MN sometimes gets confused - in the app the post you saw chevrons in looked fine to me with an italicised section. It’s Them not You.

I decided to lie down for 10 mins after putting the shopping away & slept for 2 hours.

Great but unexpected.

No cranes in our bit of Mid-Wales, Angle, but we are one of the centres of the revival of the red kite in the UK. By the early 1900s only a few kites survived in remote areas of rural Wales and they were extinct everywhere else in the UK. The first feeding station in Wales was set up less than 20 miles from us, before young birds from Wales and Spain were reintroduced to Scotland and the Chilterns in the late 80s/early 90s. Now from from rare glimpses they are a common sight here and elsewhere. Such magnificent birds.

We've had some rain in Mid-Wales too, but all of it during the night, so I don't know how heavy it was or how long it lasted. Enough to give us a very few inches in the new water butt though and start to top up the original one.

As I wrote my WTF about the chevrons, I just KNEW there'd be at least one Stockinger who knew why they appeared!, and sure 'nuff, up stepped Errol thank you

The chevrons just look odd [or like wiggly eyebrows, as Shiny] said, but the asterisks make it look like you were swearing!

Somebody - it might have been Joseph O'Connor the novelist, who is a very witty writer of 'light' pieces for radio etc - said that Dublin people use the F word so profusely that a transcript of a conversation between Dubliners would have so many asterisks in it it would look like a map of the Milky Way😂
