"Love is Love" T-shirt by Stonewall and S&M (yes, really)

One of Stonewall's contributions to the innocuous "Pride Month":

https://www.stonewall.org.uk/news/stonewall-launches-range-of-collabs-to-mark-pride-month

Stonewall has partnered with three top designers and a renowned comic publisher to create a range of merchandise to mark this year’s Pride month. All profits to go to supporting its purpose of creating a safe and equal world where all LGBTQ+ people can live, work and thrive.

The House of Kind “We Are All Equals™️” tee, created in collaboration with Single Swan, is designed to symbolise unity and allyship and features an embroidered equals sign and love heart as a reminder that all deserve to be treated fairly and equally. [My bold. I'd like to believe they meant this].

Oh, dear, one of their "collabs" is a brand called Scotty & Mirko (S&M - I kid you not!) with a T-shirt that says "Love is Love."

Do they really not know anything about history, or are they just hoping we won't notice?

They went all in on designing it too. Really! It must have taken them...ooh...seconds.

If MN approves.

Notice what? I really don’t get the issue here- is it the S&M brand name?

GreyskySexRealistsky · 18/06/2026 11:51

The T-shirt looks like a slogan for sadomasochism

Oh, I’d never heard that- it’s disgusting to see the gay rights movement bastardised like that.

That said, I’d imagine almost everyone these days recognises “love is love” as one of the most famous slogans of the international gay rights movement, especially with regards to same-sex marriage? As I say, I’ve been involved with the community and community history for a good while and “love is love” is an incredibly common message on pride march pins, banners, posters and other gay messaging from the 1960s through to the 2020s. It doesn’t surprise me that Stonewall use it, as pretty much every gay rights group have done or actively do.

I assume the centre bar of the E is supposed to look a big penis-y.

Thingybob · 18/06/2026 12:18

Sorry in advance for this slightly unrelated post but..

Poor Stonewall seem to be struggling and the TRA's hate them so I'm sure T Shirts are the least of their worries.

Only three employees visible in the building yesterday. Or it could be just one employee, one support human and one identifying as a support dog.

A trans activist walked into Stonewall’s offices today and read a letter demanding that Kezia Dugdale and Stonewall publicly condemn @jk_rowling Stonewall’s response? They reportedly called the police.

Not just PIE but also MBLA (Man Boy Love Association) which is a scarily influential organisation now. I suspect they did swipe the phrase from LGB activists but I won’t be the only person who now solely associates this with paedophile activists.

Interesting take. It seems to be derived from Stonewall's logo, where (to me, at least) it doesn't look quite so "penis-y" but I think you may be onto something there.

Well I wondered, but it really looks like the 4mm hose tail connectors on my micro irrigation system and I wondered if I was missing something.

Dominoodles · 18/06/2026 12:21

Unless I'm missing something here, I don't see the problem? It's a lazy design for sure but there's nothing inherently wrong with a 'love is love' t-shirt

Echobelly · 18/06/2026 12:23

What is the issue here? That a
T supporting LGBTQ+ people has the letters S&M on it because its the designers' logo it's pretty ugly and maybe the Es look a bit like dicks? Meh.

Love is love is widely understood as a gay rights slogan and I don't think has or should have any populat association with paedophiles.

I wasn't aware of what the SW logo looked like, but yes I can can see the link. Although the SW logo arrow point is implied in the design but 'hidden' beyond the egde of the logo, if you see what I mean.
In comparison the flat arrowhead on the t-shirt doesn't over reach the edge of the design, it isn't as clever a design and just looks a bit penis-y 😂

That needs it's own thread. Because I'm absolutely dying to ask who the cis women of colour athletes are who are suing JKR. But I really don't want to derail this one. Please??

I agree about those Es . Very penetrative looking 👀

You're absolutely right. It really shouldn't have any association with paedophiles. It really shouldn't.

I see some of the the 'I don't know why you are seeing anything untoward here, you must all be uptight pearl-clutchers' brigade are here.

Off the back of another thread, I never realised that the depiction of a person wearing black leather straps round their torso and neck on a family friendly pride poster isn't wearing bondage gear, they are wearing totally normal leather accessories, like any of us would wear down to the supermarket. I need to unclench, obviously.

WallaceinAnderland · 18/06/2026 12:39

It does look like a promotion for fetish. They should have put S&M on the sleeve.

I suppose they all think they are being "edgy." Or perhaps it really just does what it says on the tin, and they don't care what it says to the rest of us.

And that's why it will slide past the radar because 'what's the big fuss really', and yep, we've normalised a paedophile slogan and pushed acceptance that little bit further. The paedophile manifesto, a repulsive document published some years back, explained how you could get the general public to go 'what's the harm' just like this, and step by step you loosen off those so very inconvenient social boundaries to men abusing children.
