Has there been an influx of TRAs to Mumsnet recently?

I'm a long time reader. Only recently started to participate.

I very rarely saw any TRAs on here over the years. But in the past few weeks, I've noticed a lot of them coming here.

You can generally tell by the absolute shite coming out of their mouths, such as being avid apologists for sex offenders.

What's their deal with coming here? Are they saying that their 'womanhood' is reliant on us conforming to their belief, so they're trying to get us to agree with them? If that's so, then welcome!!! You're going to have to get used to reality real quick if you stick around.

Has anyone else noticed this, or just me?

Yes, now that you mention it, this is coming up a lot lately. "Criminal gender" is going on the list!

Maybe they're having a competition. Go on mumsnet, post something stupid and see how many replies you can get, with a point per quoted post.

I think one of the problems is that there has been an increased number of threads about TW / TRAs. Speculating etc., etc..

As though they were interesting.

Personally I dont think women, let alone gender critical feminists who believe in women's sex based rights need to "understand".

All that is important is that they, and all the hangers on understand and accept that women have the right to self determination about their lives.

It likes spending time discussing why men are violent. Unless you are one of those men we dont know. But we do know that women have the right not to be the victim of male violence.

Equally women have the right not to have their sex based rights impinged on by men.

I think (given the male ego) having threads about them just implies to them that really we are interested.

Far better to take up FWR posts with news, ideas, actions, frivolity, etc., etc., that are centred on women.

Or maybe ask MNHQ who have already divided the feminist forum into a third one for Feminist Analyis of Trans - FAT.

It’s already the summer break for most in the USA - where a hell of a lot of the TRA energy and (un)reasoning comes from judging by the language used.

But absolutely no one would go to all the trouble of pretending to be trans...

I come on here regularly because I'm GC and there's generally interesting and well-informed posts on here to support my position.
If i see boring or wind-up ('please explain all this to me') posts i don't bother with them.

It’s also Pride month (although, when isn’t it?) so they are probably whipped up by that too. Sex is real, gender is nonsense. And I say that as a Christian.

Honestly, I dont think coming here would burst any bubbles.

I think perhaps the reason they are staying longer is because moderation has become more fair and/or better generally.

My bad, secondary school holidays in Ireland since the end of May. College and university vacations. Silly young people with time on their hands and absolutely no idea that they are not being original.

I don’t believe that this is new at all.

I remember posts where one poster who kept telling us how highly qualified in this field of study would take this position. That person would then deny that they were personally arbitrating who was and wasn’t trans.

OP. People name change all the time. I think that there is not as many new ones as it might seem because most of them have styles that are familiar.

I used to think I agreed with FWR. I am glad I see things differently now.

For a good number of years we were asking for debate, we were thrown 'no debate' as the response. It was very frustrating. I welcome any and all who want to participate. We have great arguments and need to keep our skills honed. This debate isn't over and I, for one, want to know what others are thinking.
If we're shying away from confrontation, then, are we worthy of calling ourselves feminists? Just askin

@highame I'm happy to debate, but I don't think the recent influx of posters are posting in good faith. They just want to provoke.

I’d really like a proper debate with a TRA to see if there could be any understanding of trauma from and to them, and any workable solutions to identifying trans individuals in a way that isn’t just internal to them and a discussion around why it’s so important that they take over single sex spaces of the opposite sex. I’ve tried multiple times.

There was never good faith. Nothing has changed, except we are now in a much stronger position and TRA's are having to make an attempt. Worrying for them is that their arguments don't stand against reality, they never did. It's the new kid on the block - you don't have to justify anything if you are the most persecuted against.
