Is anyone’s MP Tom Hayes?

Fancy writing him a letter as a constituent asking why he is not concerned about 51% of his constituents but he really is about 0.5% of them?

Oh stop with this pathetic pitting of "51% of the population against 0.5%". Especially coming from a male poster who has no right whatsoever to claim to speak for that 51% regardless of how many daughters he uses as a shield. Most women do not support this extreme GC nonsense, do not spend our lives obsessing about other people's chromosomes or genitals, and do not want regressive reactionary bigoted policies of exclusion to be touted in our name. Good for Tom Hayes, he has raised some really good questions, exactly the kind of thoughtful job an MP should be doing.

Genuine question: do you really believe the fundamental difference between men and women is not our bodies but our minds? Do you really believe the difference in the risks and opportunities men and women experience in society are because we think differently?

They're not all Labour. 132 MPs have signed.
Labour 69
LibDem 48
Plaid 4
SNP 5
Green 3
Independent 2 (Corbyn and Abbott)
Your Party 1 (Sultana)

Two MPs signed but then withdrew their signatures - Tim Farron and Andrew George, both LibDems.

Pleased to see that no Tories have signed. Kemi must have them under control. Kudos to her.

If gay men/women are not willing to stand up for the sex based rights of their heterosexual constituents, heterosexuals should avoid voting for them.

Of course being gay or lesbian is predicated on 'Sex' - as in same sex attraction; though that is no guarantor of the ability to think critically or with clarity. For many it seems that their 'queer' identity trumps common sense.

It just shows that the whole thing is performative. If there was a genuine human rights issue here, some Tory and even Reform MPs would sign. It's a mixture of Lab and Lib MPs worried about the Green vote in their constituency and those Labour MPs who are happy to take any opportunity to have a pop at Starmer.
You can tell from the letters being sent to constituents that most of them have little to zero understanding of the issues, the law and the role of the EHRC.

No one who claims to believe sex doesn't exist would put opposite sex rabbits in the same cage.

She's getting a lot of pushback on the Your Herefordshire facebook page. Many people are saying live and let live but no men in women's spaces.
YouGov polling shows that this is typical of the whole country. Brits are tolerant, but not stupid.

I think this 'live and let live, but don't pretend anyone has changed sex' is the majority view.

The 'moderate' progressive view is 'yes, but is it the most important thing?', 'How can we tell?' 'How can it be implemented?'

These MPs are hard core TRA in that they are making it the most important thing, and believe stopping Eddie Izzard following girls into public toilets is against his human rights.

It's instructive to look at the percentage of each party who signed

Labour 69/402 17%
LibDem 48/72 67%
Plaid Cymru 4/4 100%
SNP 5/7 71%
Green 3/5 60% (Adrian Ramsey won't sign & Carla Denyer is taking a leave of absence to recover from burnout after just 2 years as an MP)
Independent 2 (Corbyn and Abbott)
Your Party 1 (Sultana)

Total signatures 132/650 Just 20% of all MPs i.e. at 80% the vast majority of MPs have refused to sign this EDM

V instructive. My MP also v depressingly on that list.

He spent a long time writing that didn't he?
Objecting to MAS & her colleague's "tone" 😄 Claiming she was reluctant to engage with "elected representatives". Objecting to the law. Objecting to the guidance. Objecting to women having rights to privacy and safety from men?

Always useful to see how a gay male MP can actively work against the rights and safety of 50% of the population. When someone shows you who they really are and all that..... 🙄

Working against women, but also gay men - how on earth do you define yourself as gay if you can’t define what a man is?

Once again, I wonder whether there should be a test of critical thinking that you have to pass to stand as an MP. Everyone is allowed to have different opinion, but they should at least be able to explain the arguments and say why they take the position they do.

”transwomen are women, but the definition of ‘women constitutes a dogwhistle” isn’t cutting it frankly. Come with a properly reasoned argument or stay quiet until you have one

Lararoft · 14/06/2026 18:11

He’s my MP, he does a lot for our constituency, in particular he’s finally forced the council to make my local train station disabled & pram friendly by having a lift installed! He’s very proactive in a lot of ways & very caring so a big improvement on our last MP.
And as I have a couple of trans friends I will definitely not be writing any letters on the subject sorry.

No female friends then?

Bully for you. Presumably you cannot see a problem with, say, putting a mentally ill trans man in a mental health unit designated for males?

Here's a link to all the signatories. I'm really cross to see my MP's name there. I will have to write to her. She normally does her level best to avoid anything controversial but she has Goldsmiths in her constituency and our council is now controlled by the Greens so she's probably fearful for the future. https://edm.parliament.uk/early-day-motion/65938/draft-code-of-practice-on-services-public-functions-and-associations

My MP is there too. Grrr.
