New thread. You know the deal - women's pub, men to the Staunch Ally next door.

Some of us are currently on the trail of an international seed smuggling ring, just for background information.

Myrtle, should you need a being who can swim, Brains is very good at it and can take directions when in the water...

I'm assuming that Batshit is still swinging from the rigging of the Dreadnork. Unless she's fallen off and hurt her paw.

She was Herself earlier today. I got Brains to hop up onto a piece of abandoned farm machinery for a treat. She stretched upwards and checked out the landing zone before making a very sedate, controlled and precise leap. Batshit, when asked, launched herself into space and.... made brief contact with the landing zone and then her momentum took her off the other side.

As long-time Bluey regulars will know, she's done this before. At least this time her second jump was successful. Mostly because she came up from behind the machinery, and was able to make use of a wheel as a staging post.

Oh, and the other day another dog walker, well known to us all, chucked Brains a treat. Brains snatched from the air. He threw a treat for Batshit. She missed it so thoroughly that it landed on her head, where it sat until she looked up, bewildered - when of course it fell off and Brains nicked it.

I have just laughed out loud! 😂

The weirdest thing about plotting and drafting the final two episodes is having to think of the broad plot of the next adventure so I can lay a clue at the end of this one.

I've just spent half an hour with ChatGPT discussing potential settings...

We should all go and open The Strait of Hormuz. We’re definitely capable.

That would likely get overtaken by real events I fear.

Thehorticulturalhussie · 01/06/2026 19:53

Bar gerbils would please assemble an Unwitting Accomplice for me? Easy on the chillies.

But we’d have A Cunning Plan! Those seem to be woefully absent on one side of the conflict.

Thehorticulturalhussie · 01/06/2026 19:56

But not a topic we should be debating in here I suspect so I’ll get my coat (once I have my drink in my hand)

Me too😁

Exciting episode! I now have to send a letter to Portland Head Light to instruct them to actually build that dock. There is a little beach close by though. The lighthouse is on what used to be a military base but is now Fort William Park, so there are places near it where there were once gun emplacements.

EdithStourton · 01/06/2026 21:27

Damson and Myrtle, Batshit assumes that you're laughing with her, not at her.

And so she is pleased to have brightened your day.

Well, of course. She is a joy to have around - even though I've never met her!😂

Hi Germoline, I have had one of those days. Please may I have a Gin and IT and one for yourself?

AsWithGlad · 01/06/2026 22:25

Welcome back, and happy birthday @Myfluffyblanket ! It sounds as if your day is going well.

AsWithGlad · 01/06/2026 22:36

👻

Apologies, I’m not keeping up very well.

Now, a dilemma.

The first baking challenge on Bake Off The Professionals on channel 4 at 8pm tomorrow will be to produce 24 classic Battenbergs and 24 reinvented ones.

Assuming they haven’t already divined it somehow, do we tell the waitgerbils and have no service for an hour or so?
Maud is so supportive towards KnottyandPistey’s excellent endeavours that she’ll have to know.
Will this result in a tsunami of ‘reinvented’ Batterbergs in The Bluestocking? Perhaps some will have the marzipan in the centre, which will make it more difficult for a certain gerbil to pinch it all before the cake is served to everyone else.

ChristmasStars · 01/06/2026 23:16

Well that will be interesting. I can see that battenburg with marzipan in the middle would have a certain appeal. not for Maud obviously

MarieDeGournay · 01/06/2026 23:19

Oh Batshit, you're such a delight!💙

I didn't say a proper welcome to fanOfBen earlier, sorry, I had just popped in for a few mins and there was the Gosie Chronicles to read as well as your interesting post about Reddit, which I then went off and investigated😱
Hope the White Lady is to your liking - we've never had a complaint about the bargergils' mixology skills, so I'm sure it's AOK. Lots more where that came from, with zero negative effects - you're familiar with the magical nature of alcoholic beverages in the Bluey?Wink

ErrolTheDragon · Yesterday 00:29

Ah yes, iirc we accidentally invented the Batterburg a while ago, but marzipan in the middle and the batter next to the cake probably would be better.

I’ve forgotten this.

Is a Batterburg like a deep fried Mars bar, but with Battenberg in the middle instead of a Mars bar?

Something like that.

Oh dear lord someone has actually tried it.

This is what deep fat fried Battenberg cake looks like, we had one for breakfast

We don't even care if you judge us for this

That deep fried Battenberg is one of those really disgusting things I’d have to try if somebody sat me in front of one. How about a Battenberg with four blocks of marzipan wrapped in cake? I’d eat that.

EmpressaurusKitty · Yesterday 07:31

I have to be in my office in Central London today. Normally this is a direct tube journey that takes 45 mins or so door to door.

Thanks to the bloody tube strike it’s a bus, a train & a tube & has taken nearly 2 hours. Getting home is probably going to involve a lot of walking in the rain, given how busy it’s going to be.

There are times when I think changing places with Kitty would be an excellent idea. Then she could be out wrestling with public transport & I could be relaxing at home.

That’s grim. Probably better some rain than if it was still sweltering I suppose. Kitty wouldn’t have a problem commuting - she’d be able to saunter on ignoring any queues and would always find a seat whether already occupied or not.

I think people would find themselves competing to offer Kitty a lap!

No you wouldn't.
It would never reach your mouth, you would have been wrestled to the ground and it would have been ripped forcibly out of your hands and stuffed into my mouth before a crumb of it ever got near your mouth, mwah ha ha ha ha😈

What's that? 'Now now, Marie, share nicely'
Oh all right then, I'll share it if I must😠

Marzipan=catnip, innit?Grin

That sounds like a nightmare, Kitty🙁
As Errol says, the only redeeming feature is that it's not sweltering.
I wonder how much longer London will be liveable if temperatures keep going up and up - when I lived there, the Tube was becoming unbearably hot at times, the city wasn't designed for such high temperatures.

I hope your day goes as well as possible.

I love your photos of Kitty, she knows how to work that camera, doesn't she?😁
