How many councillors has Reform UK lost since the May 2026 elections?

IwantToRetire · 11/05/2026 22:03

Given how popular (and lengthy!) the list of Reform councillor departures after the May 2025 elections turned out to be, here is a new list, this time for councillors elected under the Reform banner on 7 May 2026, or in by-elections after that date, who have already departed the party for one reason or another.

Reform councillors kicked out for racism.
My irony meter just exploded

socialdilemmawhattodo · 11/05/2026 23:18

Probably quite a lot. Kent has lost a few. Some due to actual internal fighting.

MintBird · 11/05/2026 23:46

https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/four-reform-councillors-suspended-farage-party-election-5HjdYyG_2/

Article from tonight. Only a few days in and four suspended so far with one sharing a Social Media post depicting a b*mb being dropped on Mecca.

As I said in another politics thread the party is straight up racism and "patriotism" and "illegal immigration" is just a cover.

I expect there will be many, many more to come. They can't keep their racism contained and they will keep sharing or replying in agreement to violent and racist posts they come across online.

Cllrs Ashley Monk and Jo Monk were suspended for "refusing to accept the democratic decision of the Reform UK group" - as the former hit out at Nigel Farage.

That's what the link is for in the OP.

Somebody has been, as he did last year, keeping a record.

So no speculation needed.

Just click and you will know!

As already said it is in the OP!

And the point of the link in the OP is that it will be updated, as happened last year.

That is the point of the OP!

Well not really. This is a discussion forum and people in good faith are answering the question posed in your title with their opinion. You could have put the heading “here’s the link to keep tabs on Reform councillors who step down after election”.

WarriorN · 12/05/2026 06:10

The other issue is the number of paper candidates- barely anyone had written a speil about their aims in my ward. Greens and reform alike. And now have to actually do the job!

some will quit or not last the distance

Could you set your rules for posting on your threads clearly in the OP please?

Well, posting in the correct forum wasn't a rule

I'm just pointing out that if there is a link with the info you are interested in it why not go and have a look.

It isn't about rules but the function of an OP.

Why wouldn't you bother to do that?

Yes, this is going to cause some pretty quick re-elections for a range of seats. There were also a few Greens who were suspended for antisemitism just before winning their seats, so not sure if they now stand as independents?

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 12/05/2026 20:38

There’s a man who was elected for two different councils? Like, how? Didnt anyone notice before the election? 😵‍💫.

MintBird · 12/05/2026 22:11

Keeping count, 6 so far.

https://www.thecanary.co/uk/2026/05/12/reform-uk-sixth-councillor-suspended/

This one is Glenn Gibbons the Reform councillor voted in in Sunderland who violently wanted Nigerians to be "melted down and used to fill potholes".

As Geordies may vouch the people of Sunderland aren't known for making the most intelligent decisions...

Im interested in anti-semitism but also in their view on women's rights.

Here's another. This one shared Nazis swastikas, suggested the UK has a "subhuman underclass", and blamed Jewish people for anti-Semitism.

He denied being anti-semitic or pro-Nazi saying he "enjoys risky humour and pushing boundaries". He admits he "flirts" with far-right ideology.

Here's another. Defamation this time.

A council has confirmed there will be a by-election after a Reform UK councillor who posted a "defamatory" social media message about a Conservative candidate was found guilty of breaking electoral law.

He was convicted of making or publishing a false statement under the Representation of the People Act 1983 at Westminster Magistrates' Court last month.

Andy Osborn arriving at court. He has short white hair and a goatee beard. He is wearing a dark zip-up top and a light shirt underneath.

Stephen Place is the Reform leader in Bradford. He has twitter (he got banned in the past but signed back up) and Instagram. Let's play Reform bingo...

Rapey, creepy and sexist jokes about women- check
AI images of children- check
AI images of Muslim women being beaten up - check
Pro-alcohol -check
Pro-horse racing -check
Defending Lucy Connolly, who hatefully threatened/incited arson attacks to burn asylum seekers alive- check

He needs investigated. Possibly by the police too for his rape jokes.

It's easy to see why women under 50 are overwhelmingly voting Greens and avoiding Reform like the plague. It's clearly a "boy's club" for the older generations where they spend a lot of time in the pub and tell rapey and racist jokes to each other.

That will be interesting to watch. We may need to chase that up. It’s possible they’ll face a disciplinary hearing, get told off and just carry on as part of the greens.

MintBird · 17/05/2026 23:00

Stephen Place has deleted his misogynist rape joke Instagram page. It's all archived of course.

I'm waiting patiently on his resignation or suspension.

MintBird · 17/05/2026 23:06

A couple more:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/clypdj4412ko

"One of Reform UK's councillors elected in Bradford last week is no longer a representative of the party, the group's leader on the council has said. Daniel Devaney, who was voted in as one of two Reform councillors for Clayton and Fairweather Green on 7 May, apologised before the election for previously describing Muslims as "pure scum" on social media."

https://www.easterneye.biz/ken-tranter-reform-uk-racism-hampshire/

Ken Tranter hasn't been suspended but he faced backlash after complaining about "non-white people" being in a park.

So it isn't even about illegal immigration to many of them, it's just about skin colour huh? Too bad if British-born people with brown skin wanted to go to the park in his area.

Blocksfruity · 18/05/2026 16:55

Where are the police in all of this? If the average person openly spouted calls for racist violence they would quite rightly be arrested and charged. I can only presume the police are full of Reform voters as they seem to be choosing to look the other way.
