It is if you're using gender stereotypes to reach that conclusion.

How is recognising someone's sex based on gender stereotypes?

SinnerBoy · 22/05/2026 08:03

DrBlackbird · 19/05/2026 06:02

Appears to be no limits. In addition to a female being a woman, a women is also a tree. No one can tell me what to limit what a woman is. So I’m adding that sub category. A tree woman.

I shall call you Daphne.

Unless providers are conducting gametal & chromosomal tests to meet their enforcement obligations then they have no other choice than using gender stereotypes.

Being able to correctly identify a person’s sex category, regardless of what they are wearing and regardless of extreme body modification is nothing to do with gender stereotypes.

Do you think the physical differences between male and female bodies are gender stereotypes ?

I believe that is the case being posted by Gretel and Emily (on another thread ).

Didn’t Howsa tell us all this over and over, too?

Yeah? What's it got to do with? 'Xray vision'?

Oh that's right 'we can always tell'…. except you clearly can't according to gender non confirming women….& the new EHRC guidelines.

Does a gender non conforming women have a different skeletal structure to a gender conforming woman?

No but the perception of the observer maybe based on it.

Based on typical associations with cis people.

Well I agree that you are beyond silly. People can tell the difference between male and female bodies. It doesn't matter what clothes people wear, if their hair is long or short, if they wear makeup or not. I

Isn’t this a replay from back in August / September?

Are you telling us that male people with transgender identities are going to ignore the law and the policies where they apply and therefore act in a predatory way? Isn’t that transphobic of you?

How you deduced that from my comment is rather bizarre.

The comment was in reference to cis gender non conforming women being falsely accused of the wrong sex by enforcers of the new guidelines because they are 'guessing'.

In terms of trans identities using the ladies I imagine some will continue to do so because they sufficiently pass & as such can't be detected under 'sophisticated' gender stereotyping 'tracking' surveillance systems. This maybe illegal but to suggest it's 'predatory' is an irrational stretch.

Why do you think it's illegal? What behaviour coming from men do you think makes it necessary to prevent them from entering women's spaces?

sanluca · 22/05/2026 08:57

Gretel346 · 22/05/2026 07:40

No harm done

And yet isn't the whole GC world view centred around being anti gender stereotypes? You can't have it both ways nor do you get to speak for all gender non conforming women.

Exactly, my viewpoint is that gender stereotypes can go in the bin and womens safety is important, so that means I accept due to my physical build (nothing to do with gender conformation) I can get asked a question. Not sure where you want to see a conflict in this

I also never said I speak for all women, just like you can't decide for all women all toilets must be mixed sex.

Any male person who deliberately chooses to act in a way that ignores female people’s boundaries (in this case as clarified in the EA2010) is acting in a way that harms female people. That seems to be a very good fit with the meaning of the term predatory.

A male person deceiving people about their sex category when their sex category matters is a violation of the consent of those female people needing to know that male person’s sex category.

Because the law in your country says so. Not in mine.

I don't think its necessary to exclude trans women because I don't believe they are a threat to women's safety.

Helleofabore · 22/05/2026 09:00

I don't think its necessary to exclude trans women because I don't believe they are a threat to women's safety.

And yet, they are a potential threat to cause female people harm. As supported by the Labour government of the UK.

I am sure some male people will outwardly be sufficiently feminine that women won't care in toilets and let them be. I am also sure that most male people will be noticed but women will still not challenge because of the possibility of an extremely aggressive reaction from the male person.
What I am left with is the sour taste that these male people KNOW they shouldn't use the womens, still CHOOSE to use the womens and still berate women when they do object to their presence. Really nasty behaviour and yes, the sign of a predator. If these male people just wanted to pee in peace, they could use the mens. Most men are really nice, namalt and such

Gretel346 · 22/05/2026 09:13

I don't consider being more comfortable using a preferred toilet as 'preying' upon others. It might be predatorial of resources/providers but not of individuals. If it were, my 9 month old pregnant self could be accused of 'preying' upon men for using their toilets to avoid the queue in the ladies.

Your usage of inflammatory language of course could be considered as 'preying upon' the ignorant to manipulate their views.

Helleofabore · 22/05/2026 09:13

I believe that there is a high likelihood that there will be a female person who will correctly identify a male person's sex category regardless of how much extreme body modification that male person has invested in and how they present. It may not happen every single time that male person accesses a female single sex provision, but that is not the point.
