BREAKING: The Women’s Sports Union have formally warned 9 sporting bodies and parkrun that they are in breach of law by failing to protect women’s and girls’ sport from transgender ideology.

While many governing bodies changed their policies to protect women’s sport following the landmark ForWomenScot Supreme Court ruling last year, the sports bodies threatened with legal action today still allow males to compete in female categories.

Biological sex is the essential foundation for safeguarding women and girls and preserving fair competition. Any governing body that continues to permit biological males to compete in the female category contravenes the Equality Act 2010 as interpreted by the Supreme Court.

The ball is in their court. Sporting bodies can act now to comply with the law and protect women’s sport, or face legal action.

This has made my day. It will serve parkrun right if they waste money on a legal fight and lose. Although they'll probably have to spend money either way.

pretty we've asked parkrun to remove cheating Jeska from the women's categories and they even refuse to do that. It's disgusting.

I wasn’t aware that they had been asked and had refused. That is a significant indicator that management is really adhering to an ideological position.

And now Sharron Davis is being threatened by the disgraced ex policeman.

Why we have written to parkrun.

1 Parkrun should be for all to enjoy, including trans-identifying individuals. If parkrun wants to categorise run times, it should do so by sex. Only biological females should be in the 'women's' rankings. It's very simple. #TheLawIsTheLaw

2 Males as a sex class run on average (at elite level) 10-12% faster than females. At non-elite level this gap is much greater.

In the UK, men have finished 1st in the Female category more than 280 times, holding over 20 female records.

3 If it's not a race parkrun, why do you measure times and celebrate course records? A woman's course record should not be held by a biological man. #XX

4 FWS Supreme Court Judgment was clear. Where something is provided for men and women respectively, that must be based on biological sex.

parkrun has a legal responsibility to comply with the Equality Act 2010. We are asking them to comply.

5 Everyone knows what sex they are. Being trans-identified does not mean you can forget or erase one of the few fundamentals of your being - your biological sex. #SexMatters

6 parkrun received £3million in public money between 2018-2021 in part to "increase female participation". How can it know if this is good use of public money when it does not collect reliable sex data?

The Women’s Sports Union was set up to support, protect and grow women’s participation in sport. This involves protecting the female category, without fear or favour.

All of you casually ignoring that this is being done with the assistance of ADF International. ADF who were largely responsible for Roe v Wade being overturned. Who vehemently oppose to gay and lesbian rights and whose idea of feminism is that the woman should be at home functioning as a babyfactory and having no ambitions outside of marriage and taking care of the husband. You're all quite the collection of feminists.

Tracy Edwards was my absolute hero as a teen. It was amazingly inspiring to watch what she and her crew achieved! And now I find out that she’s involved in this too- an awesome woman!

As well as Sharon and Tracy who are both amazing, I was very pleased to see that Judy Murray is on the advisory board.
