BREAKING: The Women’s Sports Union have formally warned 9 sporting bodies and parkrun that they are in breach of law by failing to protect women’s and girls’ sport from transgender ideology.

While many governing bodies changed their policies to protect women’s sport following the landmark ForWomenScot Supreme Court ruling last year, the sports bodies threatened with legal action today still allow males to compete in female categories.

Biological sex is the essential foundation for safeguarding women and girls and preserving fair competition. Any governing body that continues to permit biological males to compete in the female category contravenes the Equality Act 2010 as interpreted by the Supreme Court.

The ball is in their court. Sporting bodies can act now to comply with the law and protect women’s sport, or face legal action.

I’m so glad to see this, too many sporting bodies have been taken over by gender ideologues who have forgotten why women’s sport exists in the first place (or claim that it is because men don’t want women beating them or other guff like “it isn’t a race”).

Here’s British Baseball’s policy, which seems to suggest a case by case decision, but also relies on teams to ensure that unfair situations don’t arise. It also implies that there were objections to men playing on women’s baseball, but these have been overridden in the cause of being inclusive.

Thanks for the link

"The BBF acknowledges that during the consultation there were concerns about skill levels which could undermine fairness in the game. Baseball is a game where superior speed, strength and power is a distinct advantage in playing the game and the BBF wants to ensure that fairness is preserved."

Then they went and did the exact opposite of fairness, what's the point of a consultation if you don't bother to listen.

I'm glad it's on the list of the organisations The Women’s Sports Union are tackling, well done them and hopefully they'll succeed with their action.

No males in female sports.

Thanks OP will follow with interest and am up for a bit of gardening if required!

As a family we sailed and raced dinghies. I am surprised that RYA is on that list. Over the years at different levels it spent lots of time money and effort into encouraging women and girls into the sport. DH was an instructor in two separate classes. One of the coaches that signed him off as an instructor was a woman. It is appalling that they have neglected the females.

JFC I hadn’t heard this story before.

Until recently, Parkrun published course records, before shelving the idea on the grounds that they could be off-putting. The all-time female record in Aberystwyth, of 17min 38sec, was set in 2012 by Lauren Jeska. Except Jeska was a man, whose eligibility to compete as a female was questioned four years later by Ralph Knibbs, then UK Athletics’ head of human resources. Jeska stabbed Knibbs multiple times and is now serving an 18-year prison sentence for attempted murder.

Will be following this with interest. Some sport can be mixed sex but when a team is designated as a women’s team then it should be female only.

YY, it’s scandalous.

The Parkrun subreddit is hilarious for people claiming it's so unfair that people are being mean and nasty and who cares about women's race times anyway, it's not a race etc - and then the exact same people in the next thread get outraged because there's a group of people only doing 2 laps out of 3 or missing a loop or they've been held up by a dog/pram/Santander and whawhawha it's not fair what about my time?

Agree, the “it’s just a fun run” crew are weirdly competitive.

Oh yes.. and his record for that track still is there! As a female record.

I am adding this that I noticed a few days ago from Dr Hilton:

"Mara highlights something important here.

ParkRun might say it is ideologically “not a race”.

ParkRun is clearly structurally a “race”. It has all the hallmarks of a competitive race.

They can say it isn’t a race all they want, but that is basically the same as saying an apple is not really an apple.

Or indeed, a man is not really a man."

https://x.com/FondOfBeetles/status/2045905064057847857?s=20

This is Mara's tweet:

https://x.com/mara_yamauchi/status/2045879287287329146?s=20

"It isn’t an error. I understand that parkrun does not have sex categories. That is the whole point.

Why does parkrun have age categories? Start & finish lines? Results in descending order of speed? Timing equipment? Starter setting everyone off together? There’s no need forany of this if it is not a race. Why does parkrun have a category called “Female”? Who is it for? What is its purpose? 280+ males have got 1st Female - fine by you? 20+ female records held by men - fine by you? What is “female gender”? What is its relevance to running?"

They are right and we have been saying this for years on FWR.

The Women's Sports Union legal action - 9 sports including parkrun
GreenEyedFeminist · Yesterday 19:49

Great news. At last sports will be forced to change their ways. Well done Sharron and Tracy 👏🏼 Women’s Rights Network have been running fair sports listings for a few years now … there are still so many that let men in and there are the ones like tennis and golf that protect competition but not recreational or grassroots. You can train up for women’s hour at your local tennis club and end up playing a man just because it’s not a formal competition. It’s infuriating. And then they come in the changing room as well because they’re supposedly women 🤦🏻‍♀️ https://www.womensrights.network/sporting-body-policies

Sporting Body Policies | Women's Rights Network | UK

We play sport with our bodies, and therefore, in the interests of fairness, we must keep sporting categories separated on the basis of sex, and not gender identity.

Thanks for the link 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

"I have seen correspondence in which an RYA officer suggests, in response to one female sailor’s deep concerns about changing in front of a trans-identifying male in the women’s changing rooms, that “cisgender women” should “explore the reasoning behind the thoughts” and whether they might be “discriminatory, based on an opinion, prejudice, dislike or hatred of trans people”.

In other words "reframe her trauma" 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Oliver Brown needs to name and shame this (un)useful idiot. 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Thanks for sharing @Helleofabore and all power to Sharron Davis, Tracy Edwards and everyone else involved in the Women's Sports Union.
@SternJoyousBeev2 I think a lot of us will be following this with interest, but as you say, it's simples. Men only in men's competition, women only in women's competition and open entry to mixed. It's not rocket science, it's biology and common sense.
Thank you @GreenEyedFeminist for that link to the Women's Rights Network info. Really useful and all power to the women who have compiled that info and keep piling on the pressure.
And wow, what an amazing champion Oliver Brown continues to be.

I believe Jeska is also being held in a women's prison.
