STONEWALL REVERSE FERRET INCOMING

Taytoface · 19/04/2026 07:47

So, it looks like their income tanking might have finally made them see that trans rights is not quite the gravy train they thought it was. They are now pivoting to getting compensation for gay veterans who were badly treated. And apparently JKR is a wonderful lady, just needs to be a wee bit more kind.

‘Things could go backwards’: Kezia Dugdale on safety, LGBTQ+ rights and the future of Stonewall

There are plenty of examples of Meloni's government rolling back LGBT rights. A quick Google check will show you that.
I mean, do you really think the far right want to see equality for LGBT people?
Unlike you, The Guardian happens to have its facts right, whereas your post would have the subs working overtime.

have looked it up and agree with the not lying on a child’s birth certificate, so it’s their mother and father named on it, not whoever decides they want to be… the birth certificate is for the child! They are entitled to know who their birth parents are, even if whoever brings them up is different.

The guardian thinks men are women if they say they are so no they are not generally great on facts

you are right that the meloni government has tried to roll back rights for lesbian and gay ppl but they have been generally stopped in the courts.

redboxer321 · 19/04/2026 22:05

It's a bit more than that @PoppinjayPolly
Some of it I agree with, I'm not keen on anyone using surrogates for example but certainly not two gay men.
Not a fan of Stonewall either.

The Guardian might not be right on everything but it's right on Meloni and that's the point I was making. And laws don't have to succeed in order to make changes to society and to bring about a more hostile environment for marginalized groups @Theeyeballsinthesky

FTR I have been known to talk about ferrets.

Whatever we think of Dugdale, she has certainly put the cat among the pigeons.

n.b. I also often talk about cats and pigeons.

Seems conclusive to me, he spoke to some unnamed people (EW? DR?) who said she's changed so that's it she's definitely changed.

I think that's an 11 year old girls logic not something you'd expect from a KC

It is also the Guardian's 'logic'.

I volunteered at the LGBA conference this weekend & it was wonderful to see the age range. Lots of enthusiastic Gen Zs.

Stonewall deserves to crumble.

Stonewall deserves to crumble.

I want this on a Tshirt!

(in pretty rainbow colours, of course)

Read the full article. Typical KD. Trying to appeal to everyone at once. We made mistakes! JKR is lovely! Let’s meet in the grey area. Yet also. We still fully support self ID. We just don’t want to work on that just now as it’s not very popular anymore. But we still thinks it’s great. One day…

It’s not just their trans position that is their problem. They set themselves es up as advising on legal conpliance and got a lot of companies in the shit by implementing policies and practices on Stonewall advice that broke the law. That is why companies stopped paying then. They destroyed their own credibility.

Totally agree.

i feel Helen Pidd piece was a total nothing burger which fits nicely alongside Dugdale’s word salad.

If you are writing about Stonewall and you don’t mention the way they have infiltrated schools and many other institutions; making a fuck ton of money from them, it’s pretty much the definition of a dereliction of duty.

That is a lovely ferret (also a bit scary). Do you suppose KD knows about reversing ferrets, or golden bridges, even?

I know we're supposed to, but I'm not sure I'm ready to build that bridge for Stonewall yet.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 19/04/2026 21:47

This!! Apart from anything, the fact they think we're too stupid to see that is really fucking annoying

We will have to remain ever vigilant. I'm so so tired of doing this!

lcakethereforeIam · 19/04/2026 22:53

I wish they'd ask her why she still supports self-id.

I never shut up about gerbils.

The sooner Stonewall goes under the better but I'll enjoy watching how this goes down first.

This is from Jolyon this morning

"I'm all for good faith engagement with people whose minds have been poisoned against trans people. But this is madness: JK Rowling is a toxic sewer of hate, aligned with fascists, and it's unforgivable for Stonewall to praise her"

A toxic sewer of hate? Well that's my new user name sorted 😂

By appointing Kezia Dugdale as a trustee, Stonewall has both doubled the number of women on its board of trustees (the other one being Jake Graf), and increased the number of women who know they are women from zero to one.

I know I often link to reddit to get the other side of stories like this but it's very revealing - https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1spmuec/the_new_chair_of_stonewall_is_cozying_up_to_jk/

As far as they are concerned, Stonewall are and have always been nazis who hate trans people apparently

Ingrates!

There's a lot of "if we are not centred then we are discriminated against" feeling in that thread.

I know nobody who talks about ferrets, so why use an obscure phrase?
And as to reading reddit why would I?

I will be celebrating my 80th birthday this week and I know exactly what a reverse ferret is. It's not an obscure phrase and even if it were, the beauty of the internet is that if you come across a word or phrase you don't know, you can find out instantly what it means.

As for Reddit, I used to belong to the Gender Critical forum on there until the misogynists that run Reddit decided that women weren't allowed to have opinions they didn't approve of. I no longer post there, but do check the transgender forum if I want to see how TRAs are reacting to things in the news. The mainstream media are all very well, but they don't give the whole picture by any means.

Happy very special Birthday @NotAtMyAge for whenever it is this week!
🎂(this probably doesn't have enough candles)

EmpressaurusKitty · 20/04/2026 01:49

Yes, Happy Birthday @NotAtMyAge!

knittedsloth · 20/04/2026 04:40

I've been on Mumsnet for just two years, and have encountered the phrase "reverse ferret" quite often. I admit I was puzzled at first but also intrigued, then delighted when I finally worked out what a reverse ferret is.

I love the way that posters use witty, funny, vivid words and phrases. Just above in this very thread, I've encountered a Nothing Burger to be consumed alongside a Word Salad - thanks @tobee - I've had Word Salads before but there's nothing quite so delicious as a Nothing Burger to go with it. Mmmm - mmmmmm.

Excellent thread, too. Great discussions and lots of information, thanks for starting it @Taytoface Smile - I feel encouraged and heartened by the slow turning of the tide, and the prospect of the madness of all the confused and contradictory gender identity contagion being washed away, until it is gone.

This is horrific – I know she's probably not going to sue him, but she'd have no problem getting him into court for defamation of character. It strays well, well beyond the bounds of acceptable criticism.

I wonder sometimes if she'd ever think of suing him, just as a means of discrediting him and his organisation and potentially stopping them going after other women. I suspect she doesn't want the unnecessary distraction – going to court is a massive undertaking and her life is so full.

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2026 06:46

Oh my, being sued by JK is probably Jolyon's wildest fantasy.

A horrible thought.

Right?

and the irony is they are constantly quoting 1984 and friends as if they have some deep connection to the truth, and not a bunch of fantasists.

The idea of Stonewall at Pride being booed by the TRAs on one side & us on the other makes me very happy.

ArabellaScott · 20/04/2026 07:31

The thing is that only one side turns up in balaclavas, issues death threats, and has a vandalism-and-terrorist wing.
