All females welcome for intelligent discourse and non-harmful comestibles.

DAD GOT THROUGH SURGERY!!!

Wonderful news in the Pasta clan - I heard a rumor any spare Sleep Gerbils were on Wishing MrPastaSnr Well duty, so my heartfelt thanks to them and all of you.

I spent the day blitzing Dad's kitchen as a distraction. The oven is clean, and there are no out of date items of food in his 2 fridges, cupboards or pantry.

There is, however, a bulging food waste bin and plastic, glass and cardboard recycling bins packed to th gunnels.

Yay! So glad to hear this, Pasta!

That's wonderful news, Pasta, bravo Mr Pasta Senior! I hope he continues this positive trajectory.
He has an entire pubful of women, an entire horde of gerbils, some of them winged, and a whole host of of other small furry animals cheering him on😄

Your tidying splurge sounds like a good way to work off all that nervous energy, I hope you can relax a bit nowSmile

WearyAuldWumman · 21/04/2026 18:05

Wonderful news. :)

ErrolTheDragon · 21/04/2026 18:06

Glad to hear that, Pasta.

The youth now seem to say 'train station'. It's the bloody STATION. Bus stations are like hen's sodding teeth.

I grind my teeth every time.

A lot of them - mine included - also tend to say 'glaysher'. It's a gla-ci-er.

I will admit to being an arsey mare.*

*I have handled enough mares over the years to have great respect and liking for the arsey ones. We get on well. My two favourite horses of all time were both mares, both 'a bit too strong' for the inexperienced, but absolutely wonderful when ridden by someone who was reasonably competent and had the confidence to keep them in line.

It's what Americans say, so I guess they've absorbed it from films and TV.

If anyone wants a laugh, here's the out of date food stash.

Bear in mind I emptied the pantry part of the kitchen last summer.

I was a very responsible recycler.
All the food emptied into the council food bin bags
All the cartons, tubs, containers and bottles washed and sorted into paper, glass, plastic.

But I am NOT opening the tin of tuna out of date in November just to recycle the can, because there are limits.

My first canvasser. Wanted me to vote for Jenny Gilruth.

Told him that I'd never vote for her again, given her failure to take a stance to protect women's rights. Also told him that I'd left the party over this.

Great news Pasta.
And breathe..... x

EmpressaurusKitty · 21/04/2026 18:44

That’s wonderful, @PastaAllaNorma. And great work, @WearyAuldWumman.

AuntieMsDamsonCrumble · 21/04/2026 18:50

Great news, Pasta It must have been an anxious wait for youFlowers

And at least you know he won't immediately poison himself with out of date food when he comes home😁

Chersfrozenface · 21/04/2026 18:57

Heartening news, @PastaAllaNorma. That's quite a job you've done there, too - you deserve whatever you like from the Bluestocking bar.

Ooh, diligent indeed! I would have tried my best to do all that you have done, but, yes, maybe not the tuna? Does tuna in a can really go off? Would it be wrong to feed it to a cat?

Power to the people! Serves him right. I hope he thought about that a bit on his way home tonight.

i thought it interesting that some of our newbies would not recognise Inky mouse, of course not. Some of a regulars have stopped visiting, and we sometimes ask about them or think of them.

maybe we need a hall of fame.

Yay, Pasta! And well done with sorting out the food.

At the very least, it's a good excuse for a regular (in both senses) toast: Absent friends! Once a week, maybe.

I think the same thing when I make reference to Swashbuckled, Hedgey - maybe not everyone knows that she has a special place in our hearts because she lost her son in an accident last year.
Because of her username, she was a Pirate in the Bluey, and although she no longer visits, she is always remembered, and sometimes her pirate galleon appears in the background...
Woolley Hugs made her a beautiful blanket, with lots of lovely squares by BluestockingersSmile

I like to mention Swash from time to time, in case she ever pops her head around the door she'll know she is still in our hearts💙

Was it AlisonDonut who used to make pots in France?

Yes, that’s right.

Hedgehogforshort · 21/04/2026 21:10

If my failing memory recalls i was horsing around with Swashy on here playing peek a boo with boiled when it all happened.

i wept for her, as i think many of us did.

Here is to Swashy and Bear, 💔 i miss her and hope she is okay as one can ever be, losing a son of tender years.

Alison is still knocking around under a different name fighting the good fight from her shed in France, but does not come here.

I remember (with a red face) having a hissy fit about my arranged marriage with another hedgehog.

but life moves on……

ErrolTheDragon · 21/04/2026 21:17

A bit like physical pubs - people can be regulars and then move away or life changes. But in the Bluestocking their favourite chairs will always be available if they drop by.

I'm totally behind with everyone's news (sorry) but am delighted to see Senior Pasta has survived surgery. Very pleased to hear that. Wishing him a strong recovery @PastaAllaNorma .

Thank you so much!
Dad has messaged and is feeling well. After so many near death experiences in the last 9 days, I'm so wrung out.

I'm still doing my best but in a few days I will have to head home so I'm trying to work out ways of checking on him or visiting via public transport.
