I saw this article a few weeks ago

https://www.sportbible.com/darts/noa-lynn-van-leuven-transgender-player-banned-220090-20260317

In it he seems to take a different tone

"I knew it was coming but I didn’t know when or how. I didn’t even know when I was allowed to play anymore in the women’s game.
“I was like, what am I going to do with my career now? Am I just going to stick to the PDC or am I going to try other things?"
"I just didn’t know what to do. When the ruling came out, I was like, at least it was clear now."
And once she knew exactly what the next step was, Van Leuven found a new motivation and drive to prove she can be one of the best women in the sport.
It does motivate me to become a better player again," she added.

My bold. He seem to imply he was cruising in the women's game. Cheating bloke.

That is a remarkable statement, Cake.

A better player again…

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 09/04/2026 21:04

He'll be motivated to be a better player again? Well that's quite an admission. Looking forward to seeing this lad in front of the really big crowds once he's back up to speed with the men's game.

TicketyBoo11 · 09/04/2026 21:04

There is no place for men in women’s sport. The tide has turned.

About bloody time - thinking of Deta Hedman and her strong stance on this in the face of PDC cowardice

also thinking of the ppl running the PDC X account who can now turn their replies on (every time noa lyn played they turned off replies)

editing to add the very low key notice on their X account https://x.com/officialpdc/status/2042244626887630868?s=46

and that they've turned off replies for it 🤪🤪🤪

Yes Deta has lost out on a lot of potential prize money for her brave stance on this.

If Peter Wright can play with pink hair and trousers in the men's league there is no reason Noa can't present as a woman if he wants while playing (because the women just wear shirts and trousers). He just has to qualify as a man (which he won't).

Women's inclusion in darts is improving but the social aspects as well as the physical still remain. I can't imagine Deta found it easy as a black woman competing in pubs 30 years ago and that matters.

Can't remember the individuals involved, but at least one man in a women's sport said that the displaced women should just train harder.

Caster Semeya said that.

Deta did a very interesting mini sky sports doc about that a while ago. She went through a LOT of racism. I like her a lot, and fully see why she takes no shit.

Semanya Caster said that re the Rio 800m final. I think one of the weightlifters may also have said it.

So did JP Sears!!!

Is it too much to ask for proper clarity from the national broadcaster? And most other media, for that matter. Probably is, but "transgender women" implies 'women who are transgender'. Because that's the way the English language works. Many people still understand "transgender women" to mean 'women who want to be/think they are men'.

Yes, it started off as 'transwoman' - which, whilst still somewhat confusing, was generally understood. Then there was that tiny, subtle little change to 'trans woman' - the separating of the words making the 'trans' bit look like an adjective defining an actual woman.

Now they've gone the whole hog and made it so utterly (deliberately) confusing that the majority of laypeople would automatically assume that it meant TIFs, and wonder what on earth the issue was with people seeking to exclude these people from things that are exclusively for women.

NewGirlInTown · 10/04/2026 07:36

Splendid. Let the sub standard male players compete against the really good male players and see how they get on (badly) instead of trying to vulture victories from excellent women.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

ChapmanFarm · 10/04/2026 08:25

Having read the comments on a lot of darts pages, it is pleasing to see they pretty much all say 'about time'.

But it is also clear that the majority of men commenting assume being trans automatically means you've had your bits removed. I think this leads to a lot of the 'they are no longer male' attitude and is one of the biggest barriers to the GC movement.

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 10/04/2026 08:42

It is noticeable in almost all the articles now that the article is phrased with pure sympathy and emotive focus on the man involved and is usually highly manipulative with no mention of women or the actual issues at all, just how sad it is for the man, followed by a lot of comments from people who haven't bought it at all and are bluntly saying good, men shouldn't be in women's spaces.

Maaate · 10/04/2026 08:45

NotAtMyAge · 09/04/2026 18:20

Because he can't be guaranteed to win. Being defeated by another man in his first round match in the World Championship shows that clearly.

But how can that be?

Being male confers no advantage so surely he would fare just as well against other males as he does playing against females?

Unless....

rareandunique · 10/04/2026 08:55

There’s no ‘men’s league’ just the main PDC tour which is open and of which Noa-Lynn isn’t good enough to compete as you need a tour card. They’ve tried for one and failed. (2 women have inc Beau who is currently on the tour)

it’s never been a man league and woman league situation. Noa-Lynn can also play challenge league and other open tournaments such as the Modus (which is mostly invitational) note- they were never invited to play in the Modus Woman’s series (and Deta was)

The PDC woman’s series was set up alongside for females due to the playing and social disadvantages they have in the darts world. Noa-Lynn shouldn’t have been anywhere near it.

the WDF banned non biological females from their women’s events ages ago. The PDC should have done this sooner
